It was from a rather dismissive quote from Patrick Klepek to the announcement of the port.

And that was after he blew off arranged interviews with the guys running the petition.

You mean Patrick Klepick is dismissive of opinions that aren't his? I'm shocked. This is the guy that was "clapping" when Tetsuya Nomura moved off FFXV.

I just hope good sales for this, drums up more Japanese Sega games for the PC. And I hope good sales for VC on the PC means that it would have a future rather than dying a pitiful death on the PSP.

Just bought five copies, one for myself and four others to my friends. I have done my part and there's no excuse for the rest of you to do the same!

It's quite different from X-com (because it's quite different from every other strategy game or SRPG), but the base research / army development mechanics are pretty similar. I gave a rough overview of the battle mechanics earlier in the thread:

Anyway, I think if you like strategy games at all you should at the very least try it, especially at this price. There's a very good chance you'll enjoy it.
Sounds good, I've been itching for a good strategy game for a while now, will definitely pick this one up.

What time is it?
I wish everyone could've been as hyped as I was after Ikaruga released on Steam :( 1999 game with absolute no chance to be on PC makes it to PC... And maybe one day we get Radiant Silvergun too.

So, yeah, happy that a dream came true!

edit: Top #13. Keep on climbin', baby!

Can we add Rez to the dream list? *drools*

My excuse is that it's strategically better to buy a few copies around launch as well, considering placements on the various top seller lists and the front page.

And this is a strategy game after all.

Preordered.

Love the game but the whole scout rush is best tactic really holds it back. Would love a sequel that addressed this and made it more tactical.

I honestly consider Valkyria Chronicles the spiritual successor to the Tactics games (FFT/Tactics Ogre) we got in the PS1 era. I am so happy Valkyria Chronicles gets another shot at success, and I hope it does really well.

When you support arbitrary timesteps :p

But really, coming off a 6 year old PS3 exclusive, that furthermore is not at all a twitch/reaction based title, 60 FPS is more than good enough.

I can't speak on the dev side! When I first read the post I was actually wondering what higher than 60 FPS would really do for this game.

I am still buying the game!

Just want to enjoy it at the quality settings my monitor allows.

I understand.

Now to hold out hope that Sega eventually makes a Shining Force in the same style for consoles/PC, with Valkyria style graphics engine, classic art design, 1-3 story style, and music from Sakimoto.

Fuck it. To play this game again in even better quality than my PS3 copy, i'm getting into PC gaming ASAP. I would not do that for any other game

Man, It would be amazing if great PC sales could give the series a second wind (even if it only means that we´ll get...say... HD ports of 2 and 3).

Good enough for me (well, for now.) Hopefully they also give it the next gen treatment for digital release so you get some PS4/XB1 exposure.
