They've also made it a lot easier to parse what you need to do per fight by creating the new 'roles' tab which basically tells you the core two or three things you want to look out for as a dps/healer/tank. There are still a couple bosses where you won't really know what to do, but for something like SoO you can probably just use that and be fine.

Hadn't been playing much until tonight when I was helping out in H SoO but I was finding that I ran through focus a little more than I did last week. Did I miss a change in BM hunters that would affect this?

Did you lose your pet in phase transitions? I usually have to resummon. Focus regen is slower when your pet isn't out.

Got my pally 90 and geared enough for a Garrosh BoA run. At like ilvl 509. Pretty much done with him and my druid til the expansion lol. Been leveling a Rogue again and may buy the expansion now to boost a character and get used to the class before WoD. My boost will likely be a Shaman, Warlock, or Hunter. When they did that free 80 for resubbing I picked a Priest (went Shadow) and didn't like it too much.

Any UH DK's with WoD beta arena experience answer a few questions for me?

It seems like with the removal of Necrotic Strike and the addition of multi-strike, that the spec has really become RNG based, which is unfortunate.

In MoP, UH DK's were the definition of miniscule RNG. It was all about managing death runes for necrotic and maintaining pressure. The only real RNG aspect was the sudden doom procs which were not that big of deal to rely on. You even reforged any crit into mastery or haste, so you weren't reliant on crit either

I quit playing about the time SoO was released, but with the little bit of pvp I have done since I have returned it feels like UH is simply, spam your abilities as they come off of CD, but even then I didn't see health go down much. For comparison sake, I switched to frost and immediately did much better...this is not encouraging for me if frost will be the go to spec for DK arena.

As for UH, death rune management isn't really necessary since nothing specifically requires death runes (unless you get the health refilling ability, forget the name). And with Multi-Strike apparently being a major stat to invest in for UH DK's it appears the class now becomes heavily invested into RNG for optimal damage.

Am I reading too much into it? How has your experience with the class in lvl 100 pvp been? I know there are opinions that NS was holding the class back, but I definitely enjoyed that aspect of the play style and now that it is gone, I feel like things are not changing for the better (IE rng reliant).

Yeah, I had it happen last night on Spoils and Thok (apparently my talbuk decided he was fucking out of there when Thok started chasing me) but I caught both of those right away.

I'll just keep an eye on it. Might have been one of those unspoken things where they were thinking more about 100 than 90.

Reading up on the lvl100 Gladiator talent for protection warriors, I think this is a really cool idea for bringing back more of that sub-spec customization which ought to be applied to other classes as well. I think one of the most obvious things they should do is offer an equivalent for holy paladins and bring back the offensive shockadin playstyle. Buff offensive capabilities at the expense of healing.

Wish it wasn't a level 100 talent. I would love to level as gladiator stance.

Does anyone else find themselves losing buffs when they change zones or enter an instance / raid of any kind.

I know I'm bitching about a tiny problem here, but it's throwing me off because it's never happened before in my years and years of playing. Seemed to start with the new patch. Like on my hunter I'll lose trap launcher any time I switch zones. Or lightning shield on my shammy or dark intent on my warlock. It's not a big deal, but it's quite annoying.

Poisons get randomly thrown off, which is super annoying.

Also, lol:

Earthquake visuals are no longer visible for friendly players.

Fuck earthquake. Looks like bad and you have to think too hard to realize it's not.

Speaking of, I still think it's hilarious that there's a couple mobs in Lost City of the Tol'vir with the Old OLD earthquake visual which just looks silly. Unless it was changed with this patch. The pancake of doom.

Yep. Friend also gets dismounted too. Probably a buff or aura that changes as you zone.

It's weird getting Moonkin form at 16 now. I remember in late BC(or maybe it was early WOTLK) having a real struggle leveling balance. Most people leveled feral then switched over, but I stuck with balance, and it was like 'oh I gotta root and kite' then you get Moonkin form at 40 and I think treants at the same time? And you were face tanking elites like they were nothing. When only pet classes and pallies could do that back in the day.

I remember first playing my mage and being super excited getting my water elemental at level 40/50/60 (can't remember which although I think it was 50 as I was questing in Felwood at the time). It was like all I'd ever wanted, everything I'd ever dreamed came true and it was awesome.

That and mounts, finally getting a mount after having to run through desolace, stonetalon mountains and thousand needles when you hit level 40 was incredible. Now I get the first mount and it feels slow as hell :/

I remember by first epic mount being the PvP war wolf because it was easier to get honor than be able to afford the mount in addition to the training cost (1000g at the time?). Early Wrath.

My first was on my Hunter in Vanilla, the Black War Kodo. I even BOUGHT gold to have enough to buy it lol

So 6.0.4

My leveling balance druid can't queue as anything but damage
my 90 Unholy DK can only queue as damage
but my fury warrior can queue as damage OR tank

Clear warrior favoritism from Blizzard as always

Beta is ending on Monday. I've probably spent less time in this beta than any other expansion. Probably because once I got to Garrisons, I spent all my time messing around in there and didn't bother questing.

Do you have dual spec learned and one of them is prot?

I can only queue as damage on my leveling fury, because I don't have a prot offspec.

That seems kind of arbitrary for lowbie stuff, but that seems to be the case.

These starfire cast times are killing me inside.

You know you can easily heal as caster specs for hybrids, right? Is this new to you? You can also tank as a dps spec at lower levels.

Regardless on whether that worked or not (it didn't, having a real tank is always faster), it's not possible after 6.0.

It's clearly not intended.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
For low level content, the distinction between an on-spec tank and an off-spec one is probably trivial.

Let people queue as they will from 1-60. Everyone would benefit from this. Faster queues for the hybrids, less competition for queue slots for the pure DPS.

The only people who'd suffer are the dedicated tanks/healers and it's not like they can't switch to a DPS spec for leveling to make up for lost time waiting for queues.

The only people who'd suffer are the ones who are inherently less suited to level in other ways?

I suspect Blizzard don't want to encourage the notion that "you simply shouldn't attempt to level as something that's not DPS". That was true in Vanilla, and it sucked for people who didn't particularly want to.

you know what, I find it more enjoyable to level a new character with no heirlooms, no more one shotting mobs and outleveling an area and actually use the quest gear they give you.

I have never used a single heirloom to level.. ever.. in the history of heirlooms. I just don't get the appeal.

How can someone "not get" the appeal of heirlooms even if they don't want to level quickly themselves? Lol

It's something that speeds up a long process. The value is self-evident.

you know what, I'm about to quit this fucking game forever

so sick of not getting this HH mount.

/vent

You are not alone. 10 years of running Hallow's End for the darn horse and nothing. Oh well...but I have to be honest if I did get the mount I would probably stop doing it in the years to come. Blizzard knows that I think so I'll never get it and be forced to forever kill the pumpkin king for nothing...

Because the actual point of the game is loot. And heirlooms destroy that completely. I still level fast enough where that extra 30% or whatever doesn't mean much when I'm fully rested on most chars anyway. These garrosh looms are literally the only looms I've ever owned.

Do we know if there will "coins" that we'll have to farm to get a second roll in raids in WoD?

Speaking of raids, when will they be available after launch? Will there be a week before they release the raids?

You have 3 bonus rolls a week. You can either get them by a) gold, b) honor, c) apex's crystals or d) garrison resources. or you have a bunker which is free.

Each time you use one of the currencies to get a roll, the price for the next roll will go up for that said currency. For example, 500 gold for a bonus roll. Want to buy it with gold again? 1000 gold, want to buy another with gold? 2000 gold.

two weeks after launch is when flex normal, and heroic highmaul opens, and a week later will be mythic.

I actually like leveling. The sense of discovery and evolution going from 1 to cap appeals to me far more then the minute refinement of end-game.

Paradoxically, I also like heirlooms (although I only have one piece), because it can get to be a real chore near the cap.

Mine was the Black War Raptor back in BC.

Like you said, grinding the Honor was a ton easier at the time as opposed to getting a bunch of gold.
(Which ended up happening later anyways.)

I like heirlooms. Leveling is boring and all the good stuff is at max level.

Pretty much.

Honestly, it's just a major convenience.

You can get all you need for your toon/alt and start wrecking stuff and blazing through leveling content without having to worry about messing with gear upgrades too much.

Yup.

Also, if you build an Armory in your Garrison and get it to Level 3, it'll give you one Bonus Roll completely free every week.

This is how I feel. Heirlooms do wind up feeling like a vacant slot though, and I really miss the ever-changing visual progression of my character when I'm using them.
