So tired of this. They fucking said they gimped a version. Period. Dude let the cat out of the bag by accident. Based on the stupid moves they continually make they deserve every bit of hate they get.

tired of common sense and facts? you can not be serious.

The parity conspiracy bullshit makes me laugh everytime.

So, yeah, a few bad pictures. Whatever. You can move on sir. It's kinda sad holding on like you are.

He's fine. Who are you? The thread police? What's up with; "You've talked enough shit, time to move along sir."

Ubi admitted parity to stop debates... and stuff.

That's fucked up. He's pissed. So am I. So are many others. Go check the thread if you weren't around for it.

I don't want to get used to 900p gaming on PS4. But I'm interested to see if this AC is a step forward for the franchise. Also curious whether it maintains a solid 30fps given that it's running at the same resolution as Xbox One.

what? my understanding is that blurry images come from streching lowres images to a higher res screen. so if you look at a 900p image on a 1080p pc screen (if you dont look at it fullscreen) shouldnt be blurry.

so, again, what? don´t be a jerk and gif me like that, at least explain

<img style="-webkit-user-select: none; display: block; margin: auto; cursor: -webkit-zoom-out;" src="http://image.noelshack.com/fichiers/2014/44/1414714592-assassin-s-creed-r-unity-20141031012602.jpg" width="1920" height="1080">

these aren't 900p images, these are "content rendered in 900p upscaled to a 1080p output" images. But that's not because of a physical 1080p display, but rather due to it happening straight within the game. The GAME outputs 1080p, under the hood the content is rendered in 900p though. There's no actual way of getting 900p screenshots, as the output is locked to 1080p.

Hope that helped.

They admitted to the resolution and 30fps being the same. There's no way that literally every aspect will be the same.

Laugh away. Most people don't find this funny. Here is the OT and quote for anyone who missed it. http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=907457

"Assassin's Creed Unity will run at 900p/30fps on both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, Ubisoft has confirmed, with the publisher opting to aim for platform parity to avoid discussion over the differences in performance.

"We decided to lock them at the same specs to avoid all the debates and stuff," senior producer Vincent Pontbriand told VideoGamer.com while explaining that it's the consoles' CPUs – not the GPU – that prevents Ubisoft Montreal from improving the game's performance.

"Technically we're CPU-bound," he said. "The GPUs are really powerful, obviously the graphics look pretty good, but it's the CPU [that] has to process the AI, the number of NPCs we have on screen, all these systems running in parallel.

"We were quickly bottlenecked by that and it was a bit frustrating, because we thought that this was going to be a tenfold improvement over everything AI-wise, and we realised it was going to be pretty hard. It's not the number of polygons that affect the framerate. We could be running at 100fps if it was just graphics, but because of AI, we're still limited to 30 frames per second."

Last year's Assassin's Creed 4: Black Flag also shipped at 900p/30fps on both PS4 and Xbox One. A post-release patch, however, bumped the PS4 version to 1080p. Ubisoft has given no indication that it has plans to do the same for Unity.

Assassin's Creed Unity launches on PS4, Xbox One and PC on November 14."

Look at what you're making reference, if the game is mostly CPU bond, then...

go and investigate the differences between PS4 and Xbox CPU's, you might be surprised.

Dude. Seriously? That quote is from the dev. It's obviously bullshit, and weren't we talking parity? Please check the thread for better comprehension.

They admit to forced parity on both systems to "avoid debates and stuff." It's all right there in front of you. Nobody just says that for no reason.

I think people who know about this kind of thing replied in that thread and called bullshit on it.

It's forced parity, you can ignore it all you want, they said it themselves.

Image quality isn't everything guys. Graphics are more than pixels and AA. Unity is doing a lot with complex geometry and density, much more than previous games. You can look at a character and say it looks like PS3 but when you're on top of Notre Dame and have a near endless draw distance or see thousands of characters in an open square there's nothing to compare it to. It's all a balancing act between AI / IQ / Poly Count / Level Size and much more.

Exactly! When people tell you the truth, here's a little advice, BELIVE THEM!

We got lucky the first time around with the producer admitting to parity. Everything else after that point was back pedalling.

So there are chests in the game that can only be opened if you've connected ti Uplay. As in, you're just exploring around Paris, try to open a chest and splat you're given a form to sign in to Uplay if you want to open that chest.

Additionally, there's these things called Nomad chests that can only be opened once you've completed certain missions in the companion phone app.

I guess I'll have to find out myself when I buy the PC version, how can anyone know if the game isn't even out, I'm genuinely curious, wouldn't you need to run some tests to see, I mean, in the PC version is really easy to see this, but in consoles is a whole other story.

It's their choices though, after all it's their game and your right to buy it. You shouldn't get that upset over it. Just don't buy it and if enough people stop buying it maybe they'll change the way they make and present their game.

Getting yourself that agitated over a bunch of pixels for a toy is borderline childish reaching a certain point. I don't mind discussing and debating over opinions or practices but you guys are just saying over and over again that the game doesn't look like you hoped it would and that you won't buy it. It's a one-sided conversation. This terribly negative energy and vibe on the forums. It just becomes noise at one point.

Debating this kind of approach would be neat even, but this right now is static. It helps no one and I get the feeling no one is enjoying these types of thread.

Buying the PC version to prove there wasn't parity between PS4 and Xbox One? (When the guy from Ubisoft said they were forcing parity to avoid debates and stuff).

Speaking of fun. More impressions from the same user. Still a french translation.

level gameplay is better than previous ones. Climb down and it's much better. Current through the houses to escape it's great. . The infiltration also play
the moment the story is good, the missions are fun and exciting story:).

Combat is apparently not crushingly difficult if you know what you're doing.

Looks decent...honestly what do you guys expect from a $400 box?

perhaps you need to open your eyes, because the same box, has already display much higher quality gfx in almost all aspects than this footage here. And I am talking everything. Poly count, geometry, resolution, gfx fidelity, IQ, lighting, effects, textures shadows etc.

This looks already way worse than some 1st gen PS4 games...

Also you are about to eat some delicious crow as to what this 400$ box will be able to produce when first batch of 2nd gen games arrive.

Wich game has that long list of advantages over Unity? please don't say SS, I'm eating right now, don't want food all over my keyboard.

Also, you should keep your hopes in check, PS4 modified 7850 video card can only do so much, amazing card, I had one myself, but it is already VERY dated.

Oh, I thought he was talking about the framerate when he said that, he mentions it could be running at 100fps (heh) but because of the awesome AI it's limited to 30, unless I misunderstood what he was talking about by being CPU bound.

Aahh, I hope they're not forcing us to use the app to get additional content for the game. I don't mind companion apps to games but when they outright force you to get the app to fully enjoy the game or the narrative, it annoys me.

Destiny did that and the quality of the lore they created for the game was wasted I thought.

Wait, so games that come out after 2014 will look better than a game that came out in 2014? I and no one else here probably would've never figured this, thank you for clarifying this fact that is not obvious in any way. You do realize that next year's AC will probably look better than this one as well right?

you might be able to get that in a corridor game, not in open world, big scale, thousands of NPC at once AC Unity though.

ignorance at it's finest.

Yeah it's a little exaggerated from me. But drop the 60fps to 30fps, cut some NPC's (300 at once is still impressive), tweak the shit out of it (no annually release so that the devs can take their time) and use the advantage of each console and maybe we could see such open world game with this IQ on a 400$ box

So let me get this straight.

You are actually pretty much suggesting that Ubisoft has maxed out the potential of PS4 with ACU?

Right?

Please say yes, I just finished eating...

That is a nice balanced post. While adding it is an early Gen game its perfectly acceptable, now all Ubi need to do with the above post in-mind is remove that Vaseline and give us a sharp 1080p and it will likely go along way to appeasing #paritygate, I imagine is at the root of everyones flaw-picking (whilst still perfectly acceptable constructive-criticism to a degree)

For me this is worse than the whole 900p drama. I don't want to be forced to use a shitty companion app to unlock stuff.

Are you fucking serious? there's the video, the game looks amazing, you're just trying to find an excuse to shit on the game, ugh... I'm glad 99% of the people won't see the bullshit going on here and will just buy and enjoy Unity, this is getting ridiculous, I'm bailing out of this thread, the bullshit levels are just too high.

The bullshit is people getting defensive at gamers who are sick of the fucking lies these publishers push out in their blatent false marketing.

Pointing out that what they're giving us is not what they sold us on isn't bullshit. Nor is pointing out that a tiny gif will easily show a title in a much better light than a direct capture video on a 1:1 display.

And let's face it, Ubi constantly makes this an issue because of their early marketing and shit shoveling. If you have an issue with it, you might want to let them know to cut it out so every Ubi thread doesn't turn into a discussion on why the game looks or feels nothing like what they sold people on at E3.

A lot of us would much rather be surprised for once and excited as well. Instead we are left wondering why a current gen game is being eclipsed by its cross gen predecessor.

Yeah sure I do realize that. Problem is, some dont. Hence the "No shit Sherlock" comment towards those who say "what do you expect from a 400$ box"...

There is no such thing as "maxing out" a system

then stop implying or supporting that notion.

People speak about the crowds in ACU as if it something impressive. In the videos and screenshots we have we see in any frame, the same NPC with atleast 4-5 clones... If you think about it the total number of different NPCS aint more than 20 at best from the looks of it. Not to mention the fact that the amount of pop in when it comes to NPCs is kinda ridiculous.

Also, the much advertized "AI", well I am willing to bet that it is nothing special even worth mentioning. In fact I havent seen anything special about it compared to previous games. More animations I guess, building on an existing rich Ubisoft database.
