Just Cause 3 screenshots Leaked [Update: New microtransaction hell screenshots]

I think Forza 5 and Ryse also did this. I had to pay 60 dollars for both, but I will not make that mistake again.

Ryse has them for multiplayer, which I don't really mind. It's annoying when it starts branching over to single player, which is what this looks like. I don't even see why this series needs microtransactions; what grinding would be required to get one of these vehicles?

The fact is, if it's not F2P you will be paying 60 bills for a game with microtransactions which is worse, much worse. Just because it escapes the stigma of the F2P name doesn't change that fact.

Paid progression at the very least creates the perception that you're into fucking up your game with filler and grinding in exchange for an additional revenue stream.
So I'm generally apprehensive to the idea of supporting companies that feel this is how games should be made.
GG no purchase from me. Seriously, this is not what I want to support

...oh. OK then, I'm back on-board.
Why? He's not denying JC3 will feature any of the things he approved of in that olden tweet.
You guys can all relax.

shinobi602 has pretty much told us that Just Cause 3 isn`t going to be a F2P game, and Christofer Sundberg made a new tweet today.

Also not denying it here.

He is pretty much denying it in a older tweet.

Edit:

Doesn`t mean that the game won`t include microtransactions, but I don`t think it`s F2P at heart.

One of the greatest things about Just Cause 2 is to fuck around with the BOLO patch. If they insert microtransactions into the black market you can kiss those kinds of cool mods goodbye as well.

I only had fun with JC 2 by using cheats (infinite rocket launcher and no reload, unlcoked black market, 3 miles long grapling capacity and a batman skin). If I can't have the same in the sequel then I'm not interested

The only thing worse than Free-to-Play is the exact same game, filled with microtransactions, with a $60 price tag. If he wants to really shut down the panic, he should clarify.

But at least they're aware of this backlash, at this very early time. I'm optimistic.

Just seen the screenshots, fucking hell why Square? That is blatant as fuck, here's hoping the game is playable without this bollocks, if not I'm done with this series.

Perhaps this is their way of tempting MS or Sony to provide some of that "external funding" they were talking about in their latest financials

By potentially ruining interest in the game? Neither console needs JC3 so bad they would fund it to save it from killing itself. Well, maybe MS picks up the tab and makes it exclusive but that's a hell of a bet.

One of them absolutely needs to come to the rescue.

This can't be allowed to happen. Not to Just Cause...it was just finding its footing as a series and they pull this shit?

This leak could be the best thing to happen to this game since the backlash could cause them to change course before its launched. Even if the microtransaction system is still in place, it won't really be bad as long as the ingame economy isn't gimped in order to push users toward buying diamonds with real money.

Their denial of this being a F2P game in light of these screenshots, only means that they've twisted their definition of F2P.

It doesn't, however, restore any of my faith in this game.

If the content of those screenshots makes it into the final game then the Just Cause series stops at 2 in my mind. Which is sad to say as this has been one of my most anticipated sequels of this generation. It's going to be interesting seeing if this pays off for Square Enix. I wonder how many people they will alienate with this model vs. how many people will buy into these microtransactions. They've lost me as a customer. I refuse to play a game that is constantly pushing me to pour extra money into disposable currency. DLC is once thing. "Renting" vehicles and weapons, and buying alternate currencies (which will almost certainly be incentivised when compared to a purposefully designed monotonous grind), is another thing entirely.

When the outrage happened with Adam Orth, MS didn't listen and pushed forward with their plans. Only for a huge backfire to occur again. Avalanche has a chance to change course now, let's see if they're smart.

isn't Valve selling cosmetic items in their games?

I don't think this will be a F2P game. It will be a full-priced game with a microtransaction model that belong in F2P games.
