Assassin’s Creed: Unity Framerate Is “Atrocious”

Nah, it's on the second page of his post history.

I always check post history before I reply to something dumb.

Somebody else responded to him with a post he made about The Evil Within so it looks like his post history is ripe with this stuff.

wow......any hill and the NPCs dissapear into it...this is fantastic ubisoft

why did none of this shit show up on the streams i saw pre release

Depends why the framerate's slow. Given the large numbers of NPCs, that could be the cause, and that might be a CPU hit rather than a GPU one.
Didn't Ubi claim some bullshit about resolution being CPU bound?

Vertical slices are a wonderful thing, aren't they?

This is the biggest issue with annual releases in my opinion. There is absolutely no movement on the release date with AC games at this point (or any other game that comes out annually).

It's pretty disgusting because they are doing themselves no favours. I have been wavering on picking this up even though I was going to boycott due to "debates and stuff" and then yesterday I read the official thread and it cemented it as a no buy.

One of my favourite series of games that I look forward to playing yearly and the game probably wouldn't even pass a QA to be released on PSN if it was an indie game. It's just extremely disappointing to see something I enjoy fall by the way-side this year.

Better luck next year, Ubisoft.

Well fuck it. I was actually pumped for this game, but I am going to pass.

Too many good games out now to be playing through a technical ugly mess.

First time I was going to by an AC game launch day since ACII. What a disappointment.

How about you wait for the reviews before deciding the game is garbage?
Seriously, it's like most people here actually want this game (and any Ubisoft game it seems) to crash and burn.

Um it's called a opinion? Why should he change it because of some randoms review?

The PC version runs better than the PS4 on cards like the 750Ti. That is not "pretty fucking bad" at all.
I really don't think it does. Following the PC performance thread and its pretty damn harrowing for most people to run without a good setup. Yes, a 750Ti might be able to run the game at 1080p/30fps after turning down a bunch of settings, but that doesn't mean its running *better* necessarily, if the console versions are using higher quality setting equivalents.

It is clear from the developer comments that performance and image quality were on the bottom and may have been missing from their priority list.

Idk if this game just got specced out when the consoles were expected to be more powerful or if optimization just want a priority and they wasted time making more and more and more art assets instead.

If its any consolation...the ps4 version looks much sharper and i think it has better textures from what i can see on the 2 versions....but both versions have a shitload of bugs and the ps4 version is ahead at the moment for me

It's a shame that the game has those performance issues. I have nothing against 30 fps as long as it's consistent and/or locked. 900p tho, for 2014 on the PS4....definitely not welcomed.

There's probably a gpu hit it's not the best optimised game and even a small hit will be noticeable at such frame rates (we're talking about sub 20's here).

I understand why it's not 1080p on ps4 and most probably not because of parity crap.

Do we really need thousands of thousands of NPCs on screen with an "unrealistic" way to act and pretty dull faces?

I don't know ... I'm not sure if Paris' streets were so busy in those years.

I'm all for having opinions, as long as they are informed opinions. And right now there is absolutely not enough informations about this game to decide without any doubt that it's "garbage".

did you read the the headline here..?

Thread: Assassin’s Creed: Unity Framerate Is “Atrocious”

framerate..

and if you read the thread.. framerate, glitches, pop in etc.

Did you read my original post? I quoted a gif of pop ins, not a glitch or framerate issue.

Did Ubisoft even said something about this?
Like "wait for d1 patch" or "we're working to fix it"?

No, instead they said that ACU has maxed out every ounce of next gen hardware and then went on to gloat about their amazing huge NPC crowds... you know, the ones that pop in 4 meters away from you...

This game is way to demanding for current consoles. I wonder if the specs for consoles had been expected (or promised from Sony/MS) to be much better when development began.

I don't know, according to this post:

The performance seems fine to me.

'It's like'? It's been apparent for a while that some people have a grudge against this game because of some perceived slight by Ubisoft.

As I've said before, I've played and enjoyed games with truly abysmal frame rates before. Shadow of the Colossus springs to mind. And what I've seen of the videos certainly doesn't make it look unplayable to me.

The general lack of polish in other areas is way more concerning to me. I'm going to wait on reviews before I think about picking this up.

But that is your opinion not his, each to their own. The pop ins alone would put me off this game.

Wow, that constant npc pop in looks like a immersion killer in a big way.. its worse than a 30 frame rate that dips imo.

You just love all this don't you, lol.

What an unexpected twist. People were afraid that the PC version would run badly but in the end it's the console versions that suffer from severe issues. Maybe Ubisoft was overambitious with the level of detail?

Oh dear, I feel really sorry for people with decent gaming rigs who were scared into going with the console version. They got royally screwed over.

Enough to post pretty much the exact same thing twice within 3 pages anyway. I think he only posted the 2nd because no-one replied to the first, which just shows he's really only doing it for the attention.

No it's just poor optimization. See every ubisoft games ever. Look at watchdogs, every other ass creed games, etc

The premises do not seem encouraging though... The "garbage" statement was based on customer feedbacks so probably on a retail version. If the review copy provides stable framerate that would be an interesting turn of events but, somehow, I'm not optimistic. The game does tick the bad boxes in my book when AC4 was just fine for my tastes. I'll remain open though.

Pick up Black Flag instead. IMO it's the best AC game of the lot.
