All 3 characters are pretty horrible. What draws the line with Trevor?

Franklin is not too bad if you consider his problem is even if he thinks it's wrong he just goes along with it anyways (That's so wrong but I'll do it while complaining). It's honestly the same gripe I have with the John Marston character in RDR . They try to make him sympathetic by showing he disapproves of the people he's helping but at the same time he just whines some and then goes along with it.

Honestly, I find Trevor fun as hell to play. He's the right character for a game like GTA. I love driving with him and just letting my inner asshole out (get the fuck out of my way, you cut me off, Die! <- and yes, with the other characters I'll just scare the person who cuts me off but I figure Trevor would have no issue just shooting them).

And honestly, you could argue if you look at the story more and get to know Trevor more in some ways he's the character that cares the most about other people. He just has a deranged way of seeing how he's helping (otherwords he cares more about people than the other two but he's batshit insane).

Really, if Rockstar is going to write games where you aren't playing a character who does good things, they should stop trying to justify the characters so we like them. Trevor feels a lot more appropriate for a game like GTA V than for example Franklin where they give weak excuses why we should sympathize with him.

yep, this is the mission that I died repeatedly on... 6 times and I just said, fuck it, and for that mission switched to auto aim. The mission was the worst one so far for Rockstar's aiming/shooting mechanics. It's a mix of a horribly shitty gun that does very little damage, the need for pinpoint accuracy, and bad guys who run at you and have perfect accuracy as soon as they come out. That one guy who
comes from the double doors with a submachine gun
and he would hit me with 4 or 5 bullets and take me down immediately. That was one of my most frustrating missions when I just said "fuck it" used assisted aim and finished it.

I got gold on that mission and took zero damage. Though I did know what to expect having played it on 360 before. The trick? Use Michael's bullet time and strafe, strafe, strafe.

Except what you responded to was some one who was sick of the buffalo. A modded Buffalo is still a Buffalo. And what if you flat out don't even like the stock character car (I don't like any of them. The Buffalo and Obey are at least just boring and even with mods they're just a boring sedan underneath... and worse, one is a Chrysler *ick*, I flat out hate Trevor's vehicle).

I said it added a little variety, not the end all be all solution to the problem. If you don't agree, that's fine.

Yeah, but strafing while helps in aiming gets you shot. I guess this doesn't work that well in the trailer park. And Franklin is fucked in this case with his special.

It works until you hit the cap, then you get $0 back. I don't know what the cap is. What I did was create a save file first, then just invest 100% of my money in LFI a few times. Eventually I'd go bust and get $0 back, so I'd reload and start over and be careful not to invest 100% again after I hit the highest previous amount, which was completely different for each character.

Using round numbers to keep it simple-

1. Invest $1 million - get $10 million back
2. Invest $10 million - get $100 million back
3. Invest $100 million - GO BUST get $0 back

So then I'd reload my save and start over. When I had $100 mil, instead of investing all of it in LFI again I'd only do $50 mil or whatever. By doing that, I was able to get all 3 characters up to approx. $2 billion, in like 10-15 minutes.

I was able to do this post-Merryweather, and started with LifeInvader which was down 20%, but Vangelico was down 37%, so I used the glitch on that stock instead.

I didn't get to greedy, I stopped between $1.8 billion - $2.0 billion; I mean that's more than enough.

are there any differences between the PS4 retail and digital versions? thinking of going digital, so it's always there on my PS4 :) it's a game i will surely go back to pretty often, so i don't want to always look for the disc.

I think we can all agree that Rockstar continually botches car ownership. Somehow, 360/PS3 GTA games took a step back from even GTA San Andreas. What's especially frustrating is how other games like Saints Row got it right from the start of last generation. At least in San Andreas, you could find a car and stash it in one of your garages for later, and if you had all of the properties around the map that was pretty easy to store up a bunch of unique cars.

Then GTAIV came out and completely obliterated car ownership. Just... totally trashed the idea by eliminating garages and randomly spawning a shitty car in front of your residence... which made no sense to me. GTAIV did car management worse than any open world driving game ever made, worse than San Andreas, Vice City, and GTAIII.

GTAV improved things from GTAIV but still not up to snuff with even the basic system that Saints Row #1 had in 2007. Even if I knew Rockstar's system I wouldn't trust it. Can someone answer, if I buy a fancy car on one of those websites, it gets delivered to my garage, right? If I take that car out for a mission and leave it somewhere, is the car then gone? When GTAV came out this was super glitched up and didn't work and there was a lot of misinformation, and then GTA Online introduced a mostly working model of car ownership (still not very good, still not as good as Saints Row #1 in 2007, but better).. And so I'm confused how GTAV SP handles it.
I just want GTA to use the Saints Row method of saving cars. Fuck realism. Just let me drive a car in to my garage and have it saved, allowing me to selects any car I've ever put in my garage regardless of how many.

No. Retail versions of PS4 and XB1 games install entirely to the hard drive and only use the disc for authentication purposes.

I think a good practice is to go digital for online only games and buy discs for games that are 50% or more offline. I say this mostly because there are games that there is no guarantee will be available for download 10 or 20 years from now, so the only way to play them would be through a disc and vintage system. With online games like Destiny it doesn't really matter since 20 years from now the servers won't even be on anyways.

I love it, thx!

What would be the basic steps / techniques for doing a time lapse?

Thanks, I use sony vegas (but you can probably do it just as easily in any decent video editing program), but in Vegas once you got your footage imported, its as easy as holding in "Ctrl" while dragging the end of your clip in the timeline to the left (it'll look like your squashing the clip together, or shrinking it). You do this multiple times, depending on how short you want the end result as you can only "shrink" the clip so much each time you render... If your trying to make a Gif, when the vid is short enough export to some image format, and use these images for your Gif.

If your using some other program besides vegas, your best bet is just youtube the program + time lapse for instructions.

Does anyone know if Target (or anywhere else) is still doing the $30 trade up deal for this?

I've been on the road and fear I missed it.

A few other games do it a bit too often too, like Horizon 2 or Ryse, but GTA V has to be the WORST. I looked last night and had TEN auto clips that generated in like a two hour play session.

GTAV is definitely not the worst. EA games are the worst by far. Every save in Fifa '15 is auto-recorded.... Every... save.

GTAV has some that auto-record too often like when you get a headshot with a sniper rifle... you end up getting a ton of sniper rifle clips.

I'm still hoping MS releases an update that allows you to toggle this on and off for specific games, while still keeping the Game DVR working. Currently, you CAN turn this off, but it turns off game DVR alltogether so you can't do "Record that"

How is the new Multiplayer Character creator holding up? Is it much better than the first one?

It's loads better. What the first one had could barely be called a character creator. The newer version let's you change shape, position, hight, and depth of certain facial features. It's similar to Fallout or Skyrim's character creator.

Just doing single player and I'll take requests. I put so many hours into the last gen version and I'm still loving this one. It's just so good. Been trying to play in first person from beginning to end which is kind of difficult. Doing it free aim assisted because the lockon is too much in first person.

Still can't drive the trains, if you drive trains that is, how disappointing still, is it too much to ask to just want to drive a train on a track for a bit outside of any sort of mission, is that too much to ask?

I still don't understand the vehicle impounding stuff. Like which vehicles are even "mine" to be impounded?

Wanna get into the car customization stuff, but I don't wanna waste a lot of money on cars I'm never going to get back.

Also, I never got my 100,000$ from the code in the box.

Is this game dead online on Xbox? I cannot find anybody for a mission at all...

for a job? You may need to change your aim assist/mode. I think the game tries to group you with people who use the same level of aim assist if I recall correctly.

Anyone else feel like the pop in is a little more pronounced on PS4/XB1? I don't really care because it looks so gobsmackingly beautiful 99% of the time, but yeah.

Hey in SP, does it matter if you leave your "primary" car out somewhere or do you constantly have to park it in the Garage? I mean I think I lost it one time but there was a mission that gave it back to me without paying the impound fee. So it doesnt matter right?

Also in MP, whats the cheapest apartment with 1 garage? I keep trying to baby my car so some idiot doesnt destroy it and I lose it/have to pay insurance again or whatever. One time, I got jumped and some fool popped my tires. So I got out barely alive and repaired my car but hid it while I was driving about in a shitty one just so I could keep it safe lol. Its like a Ford Charger that I found and kept.

Lastly if anyone plays alot, PM so I can add you. I would like to play with GAFers and not randoms who want to kill me for no reason.

I think what is popping in is stuff that isn't even in the PS3 edition.

I'm noticing pop-in in the cut-scenes during camera angle changes. For example in the Yoga one, as the camera switches from Michael to Fabien etc, the shadows under the ivy switch from fuzzy to sharp and detailed half a second after the camera position changes, there are other detail changes as well (mostly concerning shadow, not textures).

The engine is not really ideal for sudden switches in camera. I don't think it is a lack of power, because most cut-scenes take place in a small location, they could definitely lock-down everything in high detail for the duration of the shot.
But I guess they had enough confidence in their open world engine to just let it ride as the default for cut-scenes so we get to see it caching.
