A Night Under No Man's Sky — PSX Session (9pst)

Damn it's so great seeing so many people enjoying 65dos, glad they might have found a few new fans. Also getting one of your favourite bands to make the music for your game must be one of the best things ever.

Loving all the post-rock love, I only discovered it a couple of years ago (EITS) and it's my goto genre when I just need to take myself out of everything and chill.

ok that was really cool. Although I hope theres moments when theres no music while playing, gotta say the music of this band goes so well with the game

Very Mogwai-ish music, I like it. Can't wait to play this game, with Morpheus to boot and I'm going to star taking more vacation days from work.

Can I explore together with a friend?

You'll most likely start out nowhere near each other. Imagine if you both spawn on opposite sides of the galaxy. Well, the goal of the game is to get to the CENTER of the galaxy, so meeting up with one another would take a ludicrous amount of time and resources.

I had to look twice to be sure that this is still in the Gaming side of the forum.

So the other side of NMS was the music, not the actual interaction with the game's world. It's good that it was so late for Europe that I went to sleep.

Can't talk about audio for a game, or are you the guy that turns off the sound when they play?

I know this game is on PS4, and then coming to PC.... bus it is like console exclusive to PS4 or just 'debuting first'?

Supposedly it will be a long, long time if ever at all we see an xbox version.

I don't think there will ever be an Xbox version.

The PC will be waiting a while also from the sounds being made.

I wouldn't hold my breath on an XB1 version. Seems like they want to support the game a lot after release and for a team of their size you might be waiting a long time before they consider another platform.

Well you will be able to know where your friends are at on the map at all times. But meeting up will probably never happen haha

The game is hugeeeee

I think players can encounter each other - but the space is so large that it's a rare occurrence? Might be wrong on that.

Sean said, even if you do come across someone else you will have no idea if the ship is AI control or another player. Obviously that could change before release.

So, a no then.

Did I stop you in any way to discuss about the audio of the game? Did I ever make stupid assumptions about the way you like to play the games? If not, what's your issue?

The discussion on the last 3 pages went beyond the audio of the game, into musical genres and bands. Which is fine, but I'm also allowed to post my amazement about this. It was an observation, not something negative.

Ahh, interesting... That's good in some aspects, but I would like to know when I'm near another player. Proximity voice chat would be cool aswell (although, fairly useless if you had no idea if you were in the same system as someone else).

Posted in another thread, but it's relevant here:

The fact that it's taken THIS long to find out what the hell you actually do in this game says a lot. No disrespect, but it's a huge failure on the dev's part for not clearly articulating something so simple as what the point of the game is and what players do in it. Over and over, all we've seen are trailers of you just walking or flying around aimlessly, without purpose or reason. Why have they waited until now to explain the overall point? Why are devs so inept and so incapable when it comes to explaining their own games?

If the devs have been as clear about explaining the game's premise as some of you so claim, then why do people continue as to ask such basic questions about it, this far after it being announced? You don't see that happen with other games. To me, that illustrates they have done an exceptionally poor job at truly showing their game and telling us what it's really about.

This is precisely why I never understood the hype and excitement. Now that we do know a little more on what you do, sure, it sounds interesting. I just think folks should keep their hype in check or else they will be thoroughly disappointed.

You are assuming everyone needs the same amount of information as you seem to crave. I don't read previews generally, and what has been shown of No Man's Sky has been more than enough to make me interested and it has effectively conveyed the mood and feel of the game without explaining the game mechanics. Those with realistic expectations were no doubt expecting simple game play anyway.

.

And was also replied to in the other thread, the devs have made the overall 'objective' and gameplay style clear from the first trailer and every single piece of released info since, ignorance trolling has become very tiresome.

No, sorry but it's a failure on your part to read about the game and probably also for having expectations about it for being something it is not.
I have been pretty clear for months about what there is to do in the game, what it is and what it isn't.

You should read amir0x's post on this. Its a failure on your part, not theirs.

Err. ..really? You got all the stuff that was dropped in the OP bulleted list from the FIRST trailer? Impressive.

Also "ignorance trolling" would assume that they are being willfully ignorant on details on the game in order to continue believing that the core gameplay of NMS hasn't been articulated well (and in terms of what has been shown in gameplay it hasn't). Were there interviews available that people could string together pieces of what the player will be doing? Yes. That still doesn't mean that "gameplay" trailers did much to explain what the core point of the game was (outside of exploration, which for many is enough).

No disrespect, but lol.

Game has no release date yet, it's likely many months from release still, so there isn't even any immediate need to articulate the point of the game in full. Even so, the game DOES have an official website, and the About page does a perfectly good job of describing what the game is about very succinctly. It's been up since the game was first announced. Only failure here is on the part of anyone who claims to be interested in this game yet can't manage to find that kind of basic info on their own. You have to your head up your own ass not to have been able to figure out what the game is about for quite awhile now. No disrepect, of course.

The game's official website has been up since the first trailer, I believe, so all the key points about the game have been documented since day 1.

Agreed. People have unfairly overhyped a game made by a small team.

A ton of people are going to be severely disappointed when they see how limited the actual gameplay is. Some people on the other hand will love simply flying from planet to planet and just looking at things.

People have insane expectations for this game. Glad people are excited but this won't end well for most.

How can you boil it down to that when we don't know everything about this game and what we DO know shows it's far more than that?

Reading the OP is hard. Since every single detail is in there or watching the video on gameinformer talking about the tech there doing. Doing research is even harder.

And another thing..

Educate your self instead of saying bullshit like this.

Key points being "space" and "exploration". Thanks. Covered that already, and isn't what some folks were asking about.

What are you talking about? I read the OP. We haven't seen the aspects that it mentions and they will likely be as simple and uninteresting as question marks showing on a radar and you go to the question mark to find a resource. Why are you so pissy and defensive? You expect everyone to blindly think like you?

Pissy and defensive? Hm clearly your the one who is pretty ignorant not doing research on this. Not willing to learn or to read or not to understand..clearly you have no imagination or curosity in you to find out what there is in the galaxy and even in NMS. That's ok then the game is not for you but saying bullshit like this it makes me even laugh how short sighted a lot are these days.

You'd play this game for the same reason you'd go to a gallery, a museum or an art installation. And if you're too blue-collar pretentious to do any of that shit then this isn't for you and you should go back to your shadow-boxing shooty-shooty-bang-bang.

Imma be havin me a sci-fi pseudo-zoological adventure. And I'll have tons of fun seeing exactly how much variety they're really able to get out of their assets and algorithms. To me, that and the visual feast is plenty of game right there.
