It's not a lighting situation. It's a focus/shutter speed/etc situation..speaking in photography terms.

Lighting shouldn't effect the focus and detail if done correctly. :)

My God, even the glass of the indicator light are reflective... can't believe that.
Anyone know how to resize img in the post?

So is it not possible to simply get a good/clean shot in the weather mode?

More like this

I'd like to see some stuff that clean and in focus, but with the water effects.

I think people's focus or something is off in a lot of shots (where they seem to be attempting to feature the car as the main subject). That first shot is from DC, so I know it's possible.
You're not going to get metallic paint speckles in dull light conditions though. You need the sun for that, plus water is a natural smearer.

No one has really posted any extreme close ups like the examples you posted with weather so not sure why you have that impression anyway.

That's not too bad focus wise. I think I'm being misunderstood though. I don't care about the distance from the car.

I'm talking just focus in general. Now that I look back through, it's hard to find any good crisp shots of cars in any condition. It's a general fuzziness it seems. Maybe it's more post process than focus?

Edit** the second post above is getting there. That distant shot still seems to have a haze to the car.

Thanks :)

when staring at the droplets using the camera zoomed right up, I think I found one shaped a bit like Africa, repeated.

But I wasn't sure.

And there is no visible Level of Detail - the droplets don't materialise/de-materialise on a boundary of zoom or anything cheeky like that.

As for the water physics on the windscreen and interaction with the wipers, and g-forces in turns -- it is amazing to watch in motion they must have shot a lot of video in real life to get it working right like that.
They have crushed everyone with the rain effects IMO.

USA: It's only $50 for PS+ members digital or if you're a disc person
for some archaic reason
then you can get it on amazon or price matched for $34

First tries with photomode:

Fancy camera angles aside, the amazing thing is the game doesn't really look any worse during regular gameplay. Non-photomode picture:

Some of your screenshots are absolutely amazing/insane/whatever. Like reallife.

Wish I could use more than twitter/Usb.

Quite scary how good some of these pictures are. You could honestly pass a lot of them off as a rendered image on the front of 3D World magazine never mind as a real time image on a £330 console.
