Tekken 7 - Lucky Chloe revealed

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/691087-playstation-4/70760503

So the general rumors are, this character is being removed because Gaf.

Someone wanna clarify?

Basically people don't know how to have fun in video games and the new character needed to be a white male space marine with a shaved head to be acceptable, so Harada, the creator of Tekken, is saying they should just not bother even bringing out this new character to North America since its the only place people are complaining and saying its destroying gaming/Tekken instead of saying "lol this character is ridiculous I won't play/spend a lot of time on her, but a new character is pretty cool in general"

Most likely an annoyed tweet by Harada but hey... I kinda feel like he should just as a fuck you to the haters who are trying to rain on everyones parade.

Someone wanna clarify?

- People on various gaming boards had mixed opinions on the character
- Someone on twitter sent Harada a link to this thread, trying to use it as irrefutable evidence that fans don't want the character
- Harada gives a troll response, saying that the character will be removed from US versions of the game (because GAF is all-American, as we all know)
- People, unfamiliar with Harada's behavior (just last week, he tried to claim that he was the one that leaked SFV's trailer early), take his tweet seriously and go haywire, calling everyone on GAF crybabies

Harada was also sent and responded to threads of a similar nature from other gaming forums/websites, but those don't matter or something.

Most likely an annoyed tweet by Harada but hey... I kinda feel like he should just as a fuck you to the haters who are trying to rain on everyones parade.

...why does nobody seem to understand that this is exactly what the haters want to happen? I personally don't care to see stuff like Chloe, and I wouldn't feel remorse at her removal.

Oh come on. This is just as bad as stereotyping people who have anime avatars.

Well that's lame. . . I don't understand what's the big deal. You didn't have to use her. I'm less annoyed with her being removed from my game than I am with him thinking that everyone in North America wants a muscled skin head instead. Why does everything have to be an issue on this forum? Why can't people just choose not to buy the game or better yet, not use the character at all. Did the idea of her presence on the character select screen really annoy people that much?

As a fan I don't see the problem with the character given the eclectic cast of the game. However I don't see a problem with people who do mind complaining or criticizing it either. If you make content for public distribution it's going to get criticized in ways you never even imagined, little disappointed in that dev for having such a thin skin about it.

IGN put an article up as news. Someone should explain it to them. Glad he was only trolling.

Edit: Also, Gaf is full of crybabies :p

That's not really a fuck you though. A fuck you would be to feature her on the American cover art. DOOOOOOO IIIIIIIITTTTTTT!!!

opening video starts with shots of Chloe flipping around and uguu'ing into the horizon
After defeating Kazumi Mishima, Chole traps all of the Mishimas in a ball of yarn and cutely plays with it on top of an active volcano because that's a thing cats do, but since she is such a ditz she drops them into the boiling magma, ending the Mishima saga once and for all.

"Oops~nya!" she says. With that, she becomes the CEO of the Mishima Zaibatsu, and a new epic saga about the new "Moe Gene" begins!

This is true. Druckmann puts it best. Its best to stick to your guns and ignore NeoGAF.
But I think trolling is a fair response if there ever was one to this. :p
Just as long as it doesn't effect the actual game.
Don't go Phil Fish or whatever.

Soooo some sort of satirical joke?
Fair enough.

I don't really care about Tekken and have no idea what sort of person Harada is.
However I would be pretty ticked off if a character was removed because "offended"

You know what happened the last time a Mishima was thrown into a volcano, right?

How are we supposed to know who would be an unlockable character anyway since they stopped doing those?

She's not, he's just messing with the complainers.

Man, Harada was just trolling on twitter and the gaming press ran with it.

I'm still pretty sure that that's a joke.
And if its not you have no one but the dumbfucks complaining about her in this thread to blame.
But its probably a joke.

Dang, I guess he fooled IGN (and me..). :S

Fielding another question, this time asking for an option to 'delete' certain characters – namely Lucky Chloe – from the active roster, Harada said that Lucky Chloe is exclusive for East Asia and Europe.

"Calm down and don't worry. That character [is] East Asia and Europe 'Exclusive.' And I'll say again, we've more new characters in [Tekken 7]. She is JUST one of them, and she will be country exclusive (or region exclusive). We [won't] include her for your region. That's why I said 'calm down and don't worry.'"

When asked by another user why North America won't be seeing a release of Lucky Chloe, Harada reiterated his stance, then explained he'll release a different character specifically designed with the NA territory in mind.

Harada is pretty smart. He framed Chloe as a defense against bald space marines, even though this character is just as much of a shameless, generic means to pander to an audience. Just a different audience.

You know what's tired? The notion of "haters". People that don't like what I like are haters. It's like I am in a 90's rap video, lol.

And people make fun of bald space marines and COD dude bros as well.

If this is Japan's space marine, all good baby! But do know what that means. It's their stereotypical character that they think every Japanese gamer likes to play as then and pander to them.

The guys over here who don't like bald space marines in everything should support guys over there that don't want this in every game.

As the new CEO of the Mishima Zaibatsu, she hosted a business dinner party to celebrate her victory. Chloe suggested to add a special event to this dinner party. There should be a live dance performance starring Chole herself and a group of idol catgirls which is to be streamed and broadcast all over the world. Chole believed that this would intimidate future rivals and spreading her popularity as the Tekken champion (and sell a million idol figures of her.)

"Now everyone will know my name ~Nya!"

No kidding. Haters is such a dismissive word, and it's used everywhere. Even my friend uses "haters" on his cringe-worthy ambiguously-angry-at-someone facebook posts.

I figure it's just a thing that will go away in time. It's a logical fallacy in condensed, single word form, so you can't just tell people to stop using it. They'll call you a hater, and that somehow gives them the right to dismiss your opinion.

People are having issues with female characters being creepy pedobait? Oh its obviously just crybabies

It's a Japanese game and they are always full of them. Yeah, imo they are crybabies. Especially for a character in a fighting game where using her is completely optional. Sure, you will come across her from time to time as you fight others but for the most part you can avoid her.

not a fan but these reactions are ridiculous. you don't need to like every character. I been ignoring christie monteiro since T4. and still play (and suck) Tekken

I have to say the articles about this are at least entertaining though, particularly using some of the more hyperbolic statements in the thread.

People who have this issue after looking at the Lucky Chloe trailer probably don't have the slightest idea what "pedobait" is. That or they've been staring at Marie Rose in DOA5 for far too long.

There are character customizations online that are way uglier and more cringe worthy than Lucky Chloes design. If you can tolerate those online, then you shouldn't have much of a problem with her.

I'm partially glad this happened so Tekken team doesn't create another character like this.

At the same time, it is very upsetting to see the reactions here. Recap: on how harada has abandoned the hardcore and is slapping legacy fans in the face. I don't like that type of entitlement. This is the same dude willing to get fired but not release paid DLC characters. This is the same guy that directed TTT2 (the most hardcore of the hardcore Tekken games). This is the same guy making a trip to EVO to reveal Tekken 7. This is the same guy going to StrongStyle just to show support to the same "hardcore" players. He doesn't need to take time out of the development schedule and fly to America just to appease fans.

Suddenly one character gets announced and all his work goes down the drain and people are upset at him for being a big idolmaster fan.

Tekken does not belong to the hardcore as an entitlement just because they stuck with the series for so long. Casual fans are the bigger pie for sales and for keeping this franchise alive. And considering how TTT2 performed, if they have to create a character like Chloe to appeal to a broader fan base to keep sales alive and the franchise strong, then so be it.

This is the best post in this whole thread.

Yeah and I don't really get what the pro-Chloe lobby is hoping for to be honest. Do they want to persuade people that she's actually a great character and people should like it? Do they want to force people to like it because they don't think it's that bad? Or do they just want people to shut up about it? Or are they just happy taking a pop at people calling them "whiny" and "pathetic" because they don't like this thing that they think is okay? I just don't know. All I hear is: "but lizards, kangaroos, robots...".

I know this is a Chloe thread, but Harada said Tekken 7 is running on PC-based arcade board. AFAIK loctest cabinets were essentially Windows PCs (they rebooted to desktop, didn't they?), so he's talking about the final/target board?

Our original arcade board, based on PC architecture.
RT @ZeroXZ03 What hardware is the arcade version of T7 running on?

Wouldn't that be the first non-Playstation-based Tekken cab?

There is no "big deal" really. As you say people can just not use the character or not by the game. But in todays climate of social media and any asshole having access to it you get non issues made into issues. These days Tekken games can have an average of 30+ characters (most of which are odd silly characters) on the select screen. I am sure one character isn't going to make that much of a difference.

I hope Harada will fuse the Chloe kawaï moveset with the muscular bald dude model in the US release. And add only cute items as customisation elements.

That's not really a fuck you though. A fuck you would be to feature her on the American cover art. DOOOOOOO IIIIIIIITTTTTTT!!!
There's a decent chance of that actually happening since she's a new character.

And then after the cover art is revealed they'll reveal that Chloe has an alt costume designed with the West in mind.

And it'll be the skimpiest possible bikini.

I think they just want people to shut up about it, but if this is a games discussion board, then folks are going to discuss games and some of their opinions are going to be different. Some of those are going to be complaints. There's not much of a discussion if it's just everyone agreeing with each other.

Because the attempt to give rationale against the character only makes them look stupid and irrational. They'd actually sound better if they say "I don't like Chloe". They do not need to go in a tirade about "downward spiral" of design because it'll only give them terrible arguments to use, which actually lead to "lizards, kangaroos, robots".

I don't even care about her and I generally don't like idols, but I just shrug rather than make myself look stupid.

Why the hell are people so angry at this character? It's just a character, if you don't like her fine, if you do, Fine. I'd rather have variety personally. So I like her.

5 cute perpetually teenaged girls who are "stronger than they look" of a roster that's currently only 7 females strong? Mmm, that' some variety.

Japanese designed and her breasts aren't 40DD, she's automatically a loli / toddler
Seems to be rather common "logic" around these parts.

It takes an incredible amount of insecurity (and no understanding of what that descriptor actually means) to see such a thing in this design.

The "pro-Chloe lobby"? Seriously? You people love making mountains out of mole hills. The funny thing is you're bringing the most attention to this character with all this faux outrage. It's like free advertisment. Reminds me of people trying to condenm certain games/music/whatever and they end up making it even more popular by drawing so much attention to it.

And only one of them have cat ears and a tail whilst making generic comments in English? Plus who out of those characters is anything like Chloe? Xiaoyu? Lili? No.

You know you did put yourself to a corner with that comment right? Because you're open to a "and how many are a bunch of muscular strong men" response.

This is what I mean by people not simply admitting that they don't like the character period, without the need to dig themselves because they'll end up in a hole due to attempts at rationalizing.

The sad thing about this is that I know I'll hear similar reactions in Pokken when certain mons get announced. It just never ends.
