FFXV demo only comes with first shipment of FF Type-0 HD "Day One" copies

Well, no, but that defeats the entire purpose of an early sneak peak.

Why would Square care though? They get to use the demo to boost FF Type-0's sales while also putting out a demo for FFXV to a wider audience to try and regain some mindshare for their premier franchise. Win-Win for them

Considering the current prices of 2014 releases FFX/X-2 and Lightning Returns, they need to sucker as many people into paying full price as they can. I was suckered into full price X/X-2, but at least I have a nice little book/box to show for it. Type-0 is going to be $20 more and contain a demo that is probably going to suck (considering the track record of JRPG demos) and definitely going to be irrelevant once the full game comes out. Fandom leads to poor decision making and S-E knows it.

I was going to pre-order this anyway (regardless of the XV demo) but this type of aggresive marketing rubs me the wrong way to be honest.
Usually when someone is trying to force me to do something it has the opposite effect on me.

Also Bloodborne is coming out just a few days after Type-0 so it's not as if i'll not have anything else to play...and Bloodborne is much more important for me than either Type-0 or a stupid demo.

Demos bundled with games since at least the PS1. It's not a new evil phenomenon. FFVII was demoed that way.

The limited quantities thing, is what's annoying.
Besides, it's 2015, in 1997, or even 2001 it was harder to get people a demo through the internet, now it's easier than ever.
Yes it's just a way to get you to buy a game nobody gives a shit about, but not only that, they want you to preorder it full price.

Well, i guess they're leveraging their power as much as they can, we're gonna see how much that leveraging power is, personally i was all for buying this game to get the demo before, now i'm not so sure anymore.
May skip and just read impressions/watch lets plays of it.

And no, i really don't care "who did it before".
Before it didn't touch me for whatever reason, so i'm complaining now.

Oh, I agree. I misunderstood the point you were trying to make. I'm very tired. >_>

"This" demo instead of "the" demo

Is there anything stopping Square Enix from releasing another different demo closer to FFXV's actual release?

Eh nobody really does Demos anymore. This one is made to sell more copies of the game. I personally would like the demo but I won't pay 60 Euro for a game I don't want besides that I don't have a current gen consoles so whatever :p.

I see no problem with this. Gives incentive to those to actually buy it day one. People will still find something to complain about.

Correct me if I'm wrong but the only companies that still do paid demos are SE and Konami kinda weird and telling duo don't you think?

it's not that nobody makes demos, is that there are some IP that doesn't need to have a demo. You don't need a demo of GTA, you know how it will turn out. But the resident 6 demo was cool, almost tricky, because it look waaaay better than the game back when it came out.

You are correct, this demo is a tool to sell more Type-0 the same way Metal gear S. 2 demo was a tool to sell Zone of the Enders.

Nothing pains me more than having to break my 'never pre-order' pledge.

But when they ransom shit like this, you have to play their game.

I think this is a wise business decision by SE. I don't think they will under ship the game anyway so you should still be able to get the demo even if you don't preorder.

At least the demo is not bundled with some random bad game.

So appropriate and funny.

Having a demo available in a full game I can consider an extra. Now, having a demo only available for the first retail copies so you can sell it at full price? Yeah, you can go shoot yourselves in both feet.

Keep your game and demo, I will watch some youtube video and buy FFXV later.

Not interested in spending $60 just for a PSP game and FFXV demo. It's too bad they're pricing it so high since I've been wanting to check out Type-0 for awhile now (ideally on a handheld...) but I can wait for it to go down in price and skip the demo.

I'm probably going to go on FFXV blackout anyway. I've gone into every FF I've played relatively blind so I'd like to continue that.

So, anyone still want to defend this shit?

It's nothing evil. Pre-order bonuses are nothing new. Besides, demos are publicity for games, so I imagine they will make the demo available to the public in the future at some point. If not this one, then another one.

So, I don't need to pre-order the limited edition of the game, right ? I'm just making sure that if I pre-order the standard edition on Amazon.ca, I'll get the demo.

edit: yeah, the amazon page says so. Cool. I was planning on buying the game anyway, so I don't really mind. I usually don't pre-order games though. I'll make an exception for you, Final Fantasy.

Ugh...what a big fuck you to your audience. No thanks. I'll wait for Type 0 to go down in price and buy the whole version of FF15 instead of this terrible deal. Your not going to force me to preorder
No one is forcing you to do anything. This isn't a "fuck you to the audience", it's perfect for the fans*.

*Fair weather fans not included.

This was also before game consoles had online functionality, and that was one of the few ways they could release demos to the public. Now with online stores on all consoles there's no reason to not just go ahead and let people play a small part of the game. Granted I'm not personally upset by this as I'm getting FFT0, but people who are upset about this aren't unreasonable IMO.

It's a preorder bonus, they want you to buy the game as early as possible, a business move. Would you rather have nothing?
No one answer that

Dont see why people are losing their shit, how dare a company try and incentivse people to buy their game at full price, theyre monsters amirite? The unthinking level of hostility that now permeates every SE thread is tiresome. They fuck up plenty without people manufacturing anger over an inoccuous marketing move

Even if you don't pick up type-0 and get the ffxv demo, someone will do a lets play of the demo and post it on youtube so you'll at least be able to see what it's about.

But this is seriously a must have for me, been waiting too long, I need to know if it's good or not, so my soul can rest XD!!!!

I dont mind it but i think they need to be clear with how it is being distributed

Is it any preorder? Its it CE exclusive?

Its been pretty vague about how the codes are handled and they keep harping about how its availability will be limited

Im getting frustrated

Some gaffers love to senselessly shit on SE. I remember when they unveiled their forward-thinking indie/Kickstarter-like initiative. Some idiots found a way to faux outrage over that as well.

They said it was a day one edition which means all initial shipments of the game regardless of CE or regular edition.

All preorders are by default "day one".

But it's like voting. Doesn't matter.

Gaming is really starting to hit the brim of what's acceptable nowadays. First DLC, then on-disc DLC, then season passes, then in-game apps, then microtransactions to speed things up, then pay to win, then games released without enough content.
hey, guess what, voting works, people have bought DLC and season passes and continue to do so

It comes with the normal edition, it comes with the CE edition and it comes with digital download

Q.Will Type0 HD be available digitally and will it come with the FFXV demo?
A.Of course

Welp, guess I'll be missing out on the demo then. Not buying Type-0 until it's at least half that price.

Oh well, no big deal. I kinda prefer to go into big games like this fresh anyway.

I still remember how everyone bought Zone of the Enders just for the MGS2 demo (and might I say, it was actually worth it).

It's a scummy practice, but I can't resist the hype u_u

They don't have to give us anything. They want to increase preorders, so people have to buy it now if they want the demo. If people are really going to buy a $60 game for a vertical slice demo of another and utterly disregard the full package that is Final Fantasy Type 0, well, you guys can continue complaining.
