Final Fantasy XIII PC |OT| Lightning must not be forgotten

that puzzling face
However, if I cap to 30 with RTSS and set 1/2 Refresh rate. Performance is finally stable. But that doesn't do shit for anything but 30FPS. AND it increases load times by a very large margin. At 60FPS game loads in under 10 Seconds on a mechanical drive. Capped to 30FPS it takes north of a minute

Wait what, capping increases load times? How is that even possible hahahah

It's a strange thing, it happens in Unreal II, I think too? Some other games as well.

There are a lot of games that I can't remember, not specifically that if you leave it unlocked, things will load ultra quick. Cap-it/use vsync, takes quite a bit more

You could force borderless window mode.
It already runs borderless for some reason. And if I do that I lose g-sync.

edit:

Am I the only person here whose game is locked at 30 fps? I also can't find any way to disable v-sync. It's always alternating between 20 and 30 fps. I really need some help here.

This game, I started playing it again as I want it off my SSD. Chapter 9,
apparently the whole thing where the team boards the Paramecia to free Vanille and Sazh was a trap by Dysely.
How in the flying fuck can you interpret that from just the cutscenes and dialogue? Jesus.
Not to be mean, but the game was pretty clear about that detail. I think it's acknowledged more than once. The party themselves acknowledge it.

Just booted this up to give the new patch a try.

getting 58 FPS (heh 58) but i'm getting stuttering every 3 seconds in cutscenes no matter what i put the games settings at even though there's no FPS drops present it's just stuttering now what happened?? is there a way to fix this I can't play it like that it'll drive me mental.

AMD 7950 BTW

WTF?

EDIT: Ok attached a controller and now it's fine...

Far, far after the fact it was supposedly set up. Mind you, I posted that when I'd just finished that chapter 9 and going through the data logs,
it was meant to be a trap from the very beginning, the logs position it as if everything was Dysely's plan. The only thing that could point to a trap throughout that chapter is the fact that the power went out. Everything else is more directly painted as Dysely just doing his job as the Fal'cie/Primarch. Raines does spell it out for you afterwards in chapter 10/11.

Just wanted to drop by and say thanks for this OT. Made me give the game a shot and join the GAF community. Peace to everyone still here.

Also, the game was pretty damn good imho.

Getting a few glitches with Gedosato now. Wordless menus, for example.

Edit: Set resolution to 720p on the launcher and it fixed it.

Now I'm getting frequent slowdowns that, for some reason, are fixed when I alt+tab out and back in. They always come back, though. This patch, man.

When you say "always", do you mean in the same session, or after you close the game and start again?

Is the game supposed to get better or worse as they introduce new combat mechanics? I'm about 4 hours in and I'm absolutely loving it. Feels like it would have to take a dramatic turn to shit for me to stop enjoying it.

The game only gets better as you progress. :)

They honestly should have given you the combat mechanics from the getgo, instead of spreading the tutorial out over 15-30 hours

Does anyone have a endgame save file they can post?

I'll eventually finish the game normally on my own but I just don't give a shit right now and only want to go straight into FF13-2

Problem is, it isn't a tutorial. This game is more about gameplay intertwined with story. People misinterpret this when the story doesn't cater to their interests or they don't like the characters.
Objectively it's not a bad game at all. Personal tastes factor far more into people enjoying it or not. You can't reasonably expect all games to handle game mechanics, integration with the vision of the game, pacing of introduction of mechanics the same. Let alone whether the game is more focused on providing a more coherent story/gameplay experience rather than a purely objective player driven gameplay affair.
Finished up, geez the ending is a crock of shit. Guess it fits the game though.

^ Key example.

More like the last hour or so is something straight out of a shitty anime/movie. That whole dialogue between Vanille, Fang and subsequently the rest of the crew? Soppy as hell and uneeded really. I actually liked the idea of the boss and his motivations too, except pretty much that entire interaction of what should have been an awesome fight got dragged down by your typical friendship and love bullshit, which we already got 2-3 times in earlier chapters.

It's how they chose to handle and deliver it, not just the ending actually but the entire game in general. There's too much there to pass it all along in just cutscenes and what they chose to show you is often poorly directed imo.

Giving more credence to the 30FPS Theory, take a look at this shit.

Graphing with a 100ms polling rate, just standing still even, (Capped to 60FPS with RTSS), every so many fixed frames, there is a spike to ~33ms

Compare this to Killing Floor with the same polling and 60FPS cap

Good god the cutscene quality is absolute trash. Black crush galore and super compressed audio. Buying this really was pointless - not trophies and vastly inferior cutscenes compared to the PS3.

For some reason GeDoSaTo now results in a black screen upon loading the game. It's running in the background and I can move around just fine, but only the HUD shows up.

This particular vantage of Oerba always gets me.

:'(

That and when you're first walking down abandoned Market Street and you see stuff like telephone/electric poles, billboards, etc and you're all "wat".

Arriving to Oerba still gets to me. I took many pics when I got there.

At first, when I saw the modern tech and signs, I was thinking if it was a connection to XV. hehe

So much temptation n_n

I'm this close to pushing the purchase button on FFXIII on the SE store :p.

How is the performance of the game so far by itself?

What about with Durante's fix?

---

I've already played the PS3 version and enjoyed it - but I wanna get the Steam version (cause I like it that much :p) mainly for recording purposes and taking screenshots (and to enjoy the game again).

Should I...jump in now :O?

My PC...isnt really special or anythin...but I can play most of the games I have at 60 FPS.

AMD Athlon II X4 630 2.8 GHz
6 GB RAM
7850 HD Gigabyte 2GB OC

You'll definitely should be able to keep a stable 1080p30 (options tweaking at your discretion) Though I will say the game hasn't been nice to AMD CPUs though most of those reported CPUs have been the FX series

You see those small Cie'th in Oerba, especially around the humanoid looking ones?
The little ones are children and the humanoids are their parents or teachers/guardians.

I never thought about this... It's amazing how everytime I play this game from the start I always notice new details.

Hmm I still have until the 27th to decide....

I'm also planning to get/build a new rig maybe next year or so.

Going Nvidia GPU/Intel CPU though so hopefully for the best ;x.
