Resident Evil Revelations 2: 50 minutes of Barry Gameplay

Topic on some gameplay snippets, but this gameplay video of the first 50 minutes of Barry's campaign in Revelations 2 from Kotaku UK. I thought was worth posting. Warning for obvious spoilers, it's the whole first 50 minutes of Barry's campaign in Revelations 2:

Edit: The video was put to private, seeing if any back-ups.

Also, some extensive look at Raid Mode (11 and a half minutes), shows off the Resident Evil 6 levels in the Throwback pack DLC for Raid Mode:

A lot of Revelations 2 news from a raised embargo, but I think the first whole look at the beginning, and a whole sequence, in a game is pretty topic worthy. Also a lot more Raid Mode details.

To clarify all things, I bet someone will mention the 'microtransactions', the previous topic we had on it was extremely misleading, it's still shitty, but not nearly as shitty, and more like the 'EX Item DLC' in Tales of Vesperia or other RPGs. Basically, there are crystals you can buy for Raid Mode that will make you revive when downed, but you can also earn them in game by doing daily challenges, or just not use them at all. Raid Mode also is confirmed to have 200 stages once fully released, and online will be added to Raid Mode when the physical version of the game is released.

The game also became available just yesterday for pre-order on PC.

Should probably not trust the 7-11 security cameras quite so much
It's painfully obvious that this started as a 3DS game. It should have stayed there, it simply feels cheap on a home console.

Ladies, gentlemen, Barry Burton's.

Aiming and hit boxes look more precise on account of not constrained to a handheld like the first Revelations. Probably going to wait it out until the full thing is out in the wild before making a judgement.

looking like what you would expect from a 24 dollar resident evil title.

I haven't lost all hope though-still looking forward to the Barry.

The game looks solid.

It seems like there is emphasis on exploration and some strategy behind using the two characters.

Will support this game.I thought Revelations was a better game than RE6.

They maynot have the biggest budget ,but the Revelations team have shown they work well within constraints.

The game is looking surprisingly good. The atmosphere is heavy, exploration is key and the mechanics with the young girl can be tactical.

Will play on hardest mode though.

A bit of minor mode spoilers, which is from the achievements.

Apparently once you beat an episode, you can play the episode on two different modes titled, 'Countdown Mode', and 'Invisible Mode'. Not quite sure what countdown mode is, but if Invisible Mode is what it sounds like... Oh boy.

hey.

barry starts with his magnum and his samurai edge.

also the encounter pacing of the game in this footage seems to be more interesting than rev1 which seems like a good start? hm, i dunno. good thing it's 25 bucks so i can find out firsthand if it works or not

Random addition, apparently there's a manga tie-in to this game in Japan that's started releasing, some preview pages were released, and I do not recognize the enemy in the preview images.

Apparently the manga stars some teens who end up on the island and some of the people who originally lived on the island. What some fans have said from Japan is the manga tells about some people vacationing to the island, but the island hosts a number of legends and locales who believe in some form of curse the island has.

What might be related to the game is that giant cloaked enemy in the preview images as its apparently little explained. There's also a fish thing shown in the manga with multiple eyes. They also describe that the island is supposed to have a city on it that is a resort town (probably abandoned by the game, this seems like a prequel), which is holding a festival, and there's some play on some creepy masks that are part of the festival, if that's part of the game or not, who knows?

It's official. Capcom has manga tie-ins with Japan for a few of their games, the manga based off of Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil 6 comes to mind. The mangas are canon, and some stuff from the manga ends up in the games, the most notable example being Piers from Resident Evil 6, who was actually first in the mangas for a while in a prequel story (that manga came to America).

It was featured in Weekly Shonen Champion, the cover of this issue is this:

However, the girl in the bikini is probably manga exclusive.
She dies.

Resident Evil 6 released in Fall 2012 so shouldn't we be getting a new big budget mainline game soon? I'm glad we are getting something with REmake and this, but yeah I want the main course.

We know that Resident Evil 7 started development in late 2012 actually, I'm guessing we'll see it later this year. I am also guessing one delay may have come from switching it from cross-gen to modern gen, maybe, as they like to try and make the main RE games graphically impressive, though might be cross-gen.

Not watching anything. Will wait and experience it myself. Less than a month left.
Atmosphere is the game's strongest card, and i really like it.

LOL
"looks shitty, therefore it should have been a 3DS game, and it should have stayed there where cheap games are acceptable"

The game being shit has nothing to do with it being previously planned for a different platform. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood was originally a 3DS game but there's no way of knowing that by just playing it.

I'm really not feeling it. The girl spotting the enemies is just freaking ridiculous. On top of that there's this episodic thing too.

I'll definitely wait until all of them are released and have a go.

Nope, not feeling it. With every new gameplay footage my excitement for the game dwindles.

"Oh look, the door is locked but there's a hole in the wall for my little companion to go through."

"Oh that zombie is not looking this way, time for some stealth assassination action."

"Oh that wall is too tall, time to find a conveniently placed box to climb over there."

Add stuff like xray vision and a run-of-the-mill upgrade bench and what you have is a game that seems to play it too safe, doing things other modern games do by the numbers. A considerable portion of the vid felt more like padding than anything else.

I hope I'm wrong and there's more to it than what we've seen so far though. The Evil Within kept things interesting by varying the scenarios wildly throughout the campaign and introducing a few unique mechanics as well. Shit like that gives a game an identity... I hope Revelations 2 finds its own.

RE 5 was mediocre
RE Revelations was crap
RE Racoon City was crap
RE 6 was crap
RE Revelations 2 looks like crap

Lol, Capcom you're definitely one of the worst video game developers.

kiiiinda looks like a bad last of us clone. looks very low budget...struggling to be interested in this tbh.

It looks so dull and boring...also dat listen mode rip-off. lol

To be honest this makes me feel kinda worried about RE7, I really don't want anything from TLoU to influence RE.

RE5 was a great game. Logged a shit ton of hours into it. Revelations was like RE5 lite. So I'd say that that's subpar.

Can't tell if serious when you're saying Revelations and RC are on the same level. Like WTF?! RC is some beyond shit ass excuse of a game. It's like Capcom told Six Slant (or whatever they were called) to make some ironic Resident Evil game and that's what we got. It's so bad but I would NEVER put it on the same level as Revelations. I'm not the biggest Revelations fan but MY GOD. I can't even with this post.

I fucking loved Revelations and logged hundreds of hours in Raid Mode. Will probably do the same here.

OMG! I've been calling Revelations "RE5 Lite" since I first played it on PS3 and people are like "Um... no." Um, yes. it uses 90% of how RE5 was built. Wish it was built for consoles from the start so it would've gotten more justice and not so limited.
