What was your first video game?

I was totally too old for it, but this was the first game my parents got me when I got my NES.

I think it was Pole Position Arcade in bar/restaurant when i was 4 or 5.

Then I had a friend in 1st grade that had an Atari and played Combat and Adventure.

But what I consider my first true video that got me into gaming more seriously. Was when my dad got me and NES and play SMBs when I was 8. My mind was blown!

Missle Attack (1977)

This game pre-dated both Atari 2600 and the more popular Mattel LED game Football. It's the first game I remember owning, though I'm sure I'd played Pong prior. The first batch of games released to retail were recalled over a scare that kids were playing a violent game showering missiles on a city skyline. It was later re-released with the Battlestar Galactica IP attached (city sticker replaced with a Galactica starship. But I owned the original and loved it to death. Such a shame that it's long-lost over the years.

The first game I remember is Super Mario World. That first level to right, with the row of Koopas and Yoshi right after is forever burned into my mind. I was maybe 4. I finally got the SNES when I was 7 with Super Mario All Stars and Super Mario World.

For me, before I even had a NES, my dad somehow managed to find this game and get me hooked on video games for life. Choplifter for the C64: Gameplay

I BARELY remember playing on this once or twice. APF TV Fun Unit. It's probably the "true" answer. That being said I did get taken to the arcade a lot as well but I have no memory of playing a specific game there earlier than that.

Real memories, then Demon Attack. You don't know fear until you've stared down the business end of a chrome, flying, red eye'd, space dinosaur with missiles.

Pretty sure it was King's Quest on my cousin's pc. At home it would've been Hang On / Safari Hunt bundled with the Sega Master System. THANKS DAD!

It's very likely that there was some kid game I played before this, but my earliest memory of gaming is playing through The Secret of Monkey Island with my dad when I was 5. Specifically, a demo of the game that came in a box of floppys, before buying the full game and then playing pretty much all the other early 90s Lucasarts point 'n clicks over the next few years.

your dad's awesome

I played stuff on an Atari 5200 when i was pretty young and on an NES but The First game to get me into PC gaming (which is where my passions lay) was Ultima 7. To this day one of the best games i ever played

I think I played Atari games before our family got an NES, but my earliest memories are Super Mario Bros and Legend of Zelda.

Does this thing count?

latest

Whenever we would go to Pamida when I was little, I would just play this thing all of the time. I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

If it doesn't count, that same Pamida had Section Z on display probably not long after and I asked for an NES right after that.

Pong on an old black & white tv and Pacman (in color!!!). No idea about the hardware though.

The first real games I remember playing on the family PC were LHX attack chopper and Space Quest II. All on a glorious monochrome amber screen!

The first one I actually played with any kind of knowledge of what I was doing? Super Mario Bros. 3. My older brother taught me how to play and everything <3

Before that, when I was really young, I would randomly turn on the Nintendo and fiddle with whatever game was in there, but not actually doing anything. I do have a memory of starting up the original Final Fantasy, and more or less freaking out over how big the character on the screen was in comparison to the houses that represented the town. xD

I'm pretty sure my first memorable games were on the Atari.
Crackpots, Dolphin, and Adventure. Oh, and Pitfall!

Hard to try to remember back over 30 years ago, but im going to try

- My first system i own was a clone of the Atari ( the gemini ) and i was having Donkey Kong and Mouse Trap with it.

- There was also those portable machine with one game, and it was Ms.Pacman.

-Playing in the arcade, the games i loved were Moon Patrol, Kung Fu, Rygar.

- My friend was having an Atari 2600, and we were playing a game Chuck Norris / Artillery Duel ( double cartridge ). Also remember enjoying River Raid, Keystone Keapers, Frostbite, Battlezone.

So between these, there was the first game i played, i just honestly dont remember what got me hook.
