Super "NeoGAF Arcade Stick Thread" II TURBO

Actually the build quality was pretty great, but the components needed upgrading in my opinion. When I had one, I swapped out the buttons and stock for IL parts. After the swap it was great.

Yeah the build quality was great. It was just so big and awkward coming off of a TE. I'd like to track one down though or sneak it off my cousin (13 year old who hasn't touched it since MK9 released) just to add to my collection.

Wonder if they are going to try and make another one for MKX some point in the future.

Supposedly, the "Klassic" stick PDP released for the MK Collection has better components. I haven't tried it in person, but if you're interested in either of those sticks and on the fence about it, that might be the one to go for.

As others have said I prefer pad for this game. The input is easy enough to where I don't feel like I need the precision of a stick and always trying to have a finger over the block button throws me off more than anything. Or you could always track down one of those PDP sticks they released with the X layout. I've seen a few in person and they are.... interesting.

I've seen people play on stick without any problems they just assigned 2 buttons to block using the traditional 6-button layout. It's all up to you in the end just find something that feels comfortable.

Yeah, I have pads I can use. I typically prefer a stick for ease of access to buttons more quickly. I think what got me away from using pads was some old iteration of Tekken (or another 3D fighter, I don't recall) where the chaining in combos between different buttons had to be almost instantaneous, kinda like plinking. I don't recall if MK has combos like this anymore (or ever did). I might try using the fourth bottom button with my pinky, but would not be surprised to fall back to a pad.

Other than ebay, what is the best place to get a used stick?

B/S/T thread on GAF is good. Also a good place to check is shoryuken forums. Also Amazon actually has some quality sticks that people put up for sale. I think a few guys from this thread have put sticks up on Amazon before.

Ok, thanks! Also thank you to the above poster.

Where can I get good plexi glass for the TE2? The smudges the cheap original plexi glass left on the art and thats on the plexi itself is driving me insane.

My TE2 just arrived! Super excited to get to play on it. I do have one issue though. It doesn't seem like the part that lifts up sits flush with the blue side panels when closed. It isn't a deal breaker, just kind of annoying. I will need to remove the plexi and put it back to get the dreaded moisture film rainbow effect to go away. I plan on replacing the artwork soon anyways. Has anyone tried Plasti Dip on the side panels?

So, definitely getting a KRAYLIX (for an awesome deal).

He has the 2P panel in storage, that's what I'll be getting. Now I have the dilemma of what to get it wired for.

Thinking PS360s are my best bet.

thats better, that other image looked like shit, reminded me of this:

people building custom cabinets for MAME and just slapping an x-arcade stick in for controls....for shame
Bahahaha. Never mind how massive the bezel (and tiny the monitor) is. Might as well just use an iCade.

If you swap out all the buttons and the stick. That raises the "cheap" price back up to the $90-$100 range.
Yeah, but don't the Q1s come with non-Sanwa parts anyway? Are the stock Qanba parts that much better than the stock MC ones?

I honestly don't know, so feel free to fill me in :)

Always go Sanwa, if you buy a stick with garbage internals it will hamper your experience. Buttons are cheap as hell, you can pick up a set of 6 for like 15-20 bucks

Oh, that's what I mean. Why by a Qanba Q1 and replace the guts when for cheaper, you can buy a Brawlstick and replace the guts?

Now I wait for a super-cheap (WWE equivalent) PS4 stick.

In not sure that will happen anytime soon, although I wouldn't mind being wrong. All of the sticks coming out seem to be premium models with prices starting at $150. Of course, these all come with Sanwa or Hori Hayabusa/Kuro parts, so generally no need to upgrade. Might be worth picking up a used 'premium' stick if you are looking to save money...

Yeah that's the point, people who are sitting on the fence cash wise usually buy a decently built stick with whatever internals and replace the lever and buttons.

But to be honest, 150 for the Hori is a damn good price for an excellent stick.

What a coincidence I would find this thread so conveniently.
I have an old custom made ps2 era stick that I use on ps3 with an appropriate usb adapter. Last night I tried hooking it up to my pc which used to be no issue, but yesterday it didn't even recognise that I'd plugged in a usb. I tried various usb ports to no avail.
Could this be an issue with the adapter or do I need some software?
Thanks!

so rad. congrats man.

Probably the best place to ask, but does anybody know if the RAP4 Kai will be available in Canada anytime soon? I want one, but my only option is to really import from amazon US. The problem with that is our atrocious exchange rate lol. =(

Brawlstick uses the same great clone parts as the TvC stick. They don't need to be upgraded, especially for a new player.

There was a great in-depth review with teardown and comparison of the TvC parts to Sanwa, but I can no longer find the link.

Aussies paid 200 for it imported.

How much is it going to cost you?

I'm trying to figure out why I ordered a Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT-SK stick on an old receipt I found for LizardLick. I was modding an OG TE which already came with one.

Might've been for my spare Fightstick SE. Did those come with knockoff sticks or buttons?

so how are you going to wire it up? Cthulhu or PS360+ or a padhack?

Hopefully your wiring is better than mine (Padhack picture from my arcade cabinet from earlier in the thread)

I have a friend that does all my wiring. After thinking about it, I'll probably just do PS4 padhacks. I'm pretty much done playing 360, and PS4 padhacks would give me access to PC/PS4/PS3, which would cover pretty much everything I would want to play.

Currently looking for template for this thing. It's the V3 model of a Kraylix, and googling gives me nothing. The guy that makes them posted a link for the templates, but it's dead, and he hasn't visited SRK in two months. :(

I still havent upgraded my 2P side from Chimp to padhack. It took me so long to do 1P that I just havent had the motivation.

I need a better soldering iron first i think, too much trouble heating 20 gauge wire with the one I used
