Watch Kino's Journey and Haibane Renmei.
actually there are a ton of shows from the late 80s to early 2000s that are almost lost in time due to non renewed licenses and companies out of the market.
Stuff like Chrno Crusade, Read or Die, Kiddy Grade, Scrapped Princess, and even cute things like Hand Maid May. Newer fans are missing out on some enjoyable things.

You really do know whats up :) Lovely selection of goodies mentioned.

Finished Kimi ni Todoke S1. Burned through it in three nights It really gave me 'one more episode' fever.

It really was great. I especially liked the first half. Sure they are very standard kinds of shojo arcs but I felt they are just really well put together. But really there isn''t a single arc I didn't really like.

Has me wanting to rewatch S2 which I'd already seen. I'm also bummed its only 13 rather than 25.
People don't really like S2, since they throw in another complication, but really it's the culmination of the Sawako arc so it's fine.
I also wonder how the book is doing now that the show is about the friends as much as it is about Sawako... but I would take it that the fact that there hasn't been another anime season would mean that people have mostly moved on.

It's funny though, this was a property with a live action movie and video games a few years ago.

Shirobako 1-4

Started watching this and it's so far pretty enjoyable. Some character's reactions are a bit over the top given the... realistic slant of the show, but I guess it lends some charms to the whole thing.

I'm kinda disliking Tarou as a character. He seems the kind of person that shouldn't be doing the job he's doing. Too wishy washy and causing problems.

He pretty much represents the asshole colleague we all know that one has to deal with at work places. Funnily enough, he is based on the show's director's younger self when he apparently used to be arrogant.

Obake-chan

Pretty nice and sweet little thing. The ending and Evangelion joke was great. I didn't get why two jokes essentially repeated though.

Also what was that song at 5:12 timestamp? Swear to God I've heard it before. Driving me insane.

Here's everything that I've watched and liked:

Kill la Kill, Chuunibyo, Madoka, Sakurasou, Golden Time, Toradora, Oreimo, Gurren Lagann, Love Live, Nozaki-kun, Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nisekoi, Panty & Stocking, Lucky Star, Love Lab, Parasyte, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Hunter x Hunter, and Your lie in April

There's a lot of holes in that list, but what are the "essentials" that I need to watch?

Since you liked Your lie in April and Toradora, check out Clannad+After Story, Kanon 2006, AnoHana and ef. And might as well check out Idolmaster if you liked Love Live.

Just started up Shirobako. Really cool and insightful so far. Hard to keep up with all the characters though. Two episodes in and they introduced so many of them right off the bat lol.

They'll show nametags everytime for the first few episodes.

But everybody gets a label like Gothloli-sama, Red Haired VA Girl and Stupid Asshole who Fucks Everything Up in here anyway

So I checked out the first episode of Eureka 7 after seeing it namedropped rather often in the last couple weeks.

I have to say that was a rather captivating first episode with some high animation quality (well, first episode but still promising) and an OST that managed to stand out a bit already.

Please watch Eureka Seven.
Please do not watch Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows.
Please do not watch Eureka Seven: Astral Ocean.

But its probably not going to be more than like 25 episodes, should have alot more pacing and focus.

One look at the cloth design should tell you it's going to be an atrocity. Set in Asgard if PV is to be trusted.

Not that God Cloth designs in general were any better ...

Didn't know people disliked S2. I liked it when I saw it, but I don't remember it now. Because of the way CR works I watched that without realising I was watching a S2. And then got sidetracked and never went back till now.

But yeah. This has got me interested in rewatching as well as reading the manga. And really I really like Ayane and Chizuru so much I'd read/watch a story about them.

After sleeping on it, Pierrot robbed me of what could and should have been the best (TG manga spoilers)
protag beatdown since the end of Nisemonogatari.
Unforgivable.

Strike Wiches 12 END
This was a competent but as by the books ending as it gets ending, with the Chekov gun firing away (I wonder if they stole that from Bleach or if Kubo stole it from them) and all the other Witches suddenly finding strength in themselves to support our protagonist. They completely ignored the new Neuroi plot, I've no idea why they even bothered setting it up in the first episode. I suppose they know their audience and are aware that no one watches it for the aliens angle but for the imaginative reinterpretation of WW 2 and its famous historical figures.

Anyhow this season was undeniably better then the first. It benefits greatly from the already established cast and better direction but I thought it kind of petered out a bit after the first two episodes, which were really frighteningly decent. The action has some high points, eps 2 and 12 especially but in general it is marred by a really extensive CG use for the human characters. Blergh. Music was really good though, I will give it that. It's still not anything I would, in good faith, subject others to but I imagine you could do worse in the lewd girls doing cute things genre.

If Miyafuji actually
lost her power
for good then I will run a marathon wearing Lucchini cosplay.*

Nice standard fare on Ghost-chan compared to what is in Mr. Koyama's 'dōjin' series CCMS (http://kusano-design.com/ccms/c83/), but suddenly those 'Annoxplosions' and everything after that sure caught me off-guard! Well done.

Heh, didn't notice at first that Mr. Tsurumaki appears on a photo during the credits on-board of a scooter (how many does he have?).

Apparently Gainax is doing an original anime for Spring. This kinda floored me because I didn't even know that there was anyone left there.
Believe it or not, since the last 'diaspora' key figures of the past like Yasuhiro Takeda & Takami Akai (long past already the '2ch incident', he now seems mainly interested in giving Yonago City something in return) have been more involved with the studio recently. A healthy part of the old guard is still at the board of directors! Heck, publicity stunt or not... with local government promotion/grants included or not, GAiNAX is expanding into a new locale established at Miharu, Fukushima Prefecture (http://fukushimagainax.co.jp/) and helmed by Yoshinori Asao, who will oversee there a new animated commercial featuring character designs by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (that as you can see still collaborates with them too, on both this and Uru in Blue, as well as in the near future supervising the new recruits' formation at the nascent division).

Meanwhile for the in-house animation production staff front... I just hope at least people like Ikuo Kuwana keep fighting for them!

Maturity, bitches.
Is this the first time in years where we only get one thread for a season?
A reflection of the season or of ourselves?

And the more I think about it, Tokyo Ghoul's 2nd half really was a waste. Painfully so. Funny how I complained that the OP was trying it's hardest to be deep but just came off as boring and drawn out and that exact same complain can be made for the whole second series.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Episode VIII-X:

Great episode to clarify Homura Akemi's role in everything, it's such a sad and cruel world for her
and all to save her "only friend" a very emotional scene is embedded in there as she is trying over and over again to save her. My lawd, sick twisted, and sad...

Kyubey is a douche fu(k that stupid white alien, trying to destroy human lives...

These last two episodes, I don't know GAF.... someone hold me..

Thank you. Theres so much fun stuff buried under more recent anime and its a shame if younger fans dont ever get to see it.

Charlotte is directed by Yoshiyuki Asai and anime character designs are by Kanami Sekiguchi. Airs in July.

Hmmm. I love the character designer so maybe this could be good.

Episode 10 is one of the best episodes of anime to come out in a long time.
Entering the final stretch now!
As for the movies, be aware that movie 1 and 2 are simply a retelling of the series, and reuse much of the footage. Only movie 3 is original and it is highly controversial.

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Episode X-End
Wow, what an emotional ride through this one. It's not what you expect at all when you first see the images. Of course she came up with the best possible outcome to
"end the cycle" for her friends and all others from becoming witches, to do this, she became a "God" and placed all of that burdon on herself.
.

It is definately a good one though; well written, great characters, story progression and pace were excellant no real smut, no harems, and tells a good tale, albeit dark and sad.... Great pick and experience here.

Kyubey did nothing wrong.

Whatever helps you sleep at night buddy.... he's a bastard
alien
plain and simple, there are no excuses.
Half truths and manipulation doesn't make it not deceit
...

Since I was hooked up with a 24 hour pass, time to catch up on the latest episodes of Cross Ange, Log Horizon and Saekano real quick.

Yeah, it was a really good episode, very well written...

What time-line does 3 take place in? Is it a spin-off and tells a completely differnt story?
