"Have a seat." - Chris Hansen is back. How to Catch a Kickstarter

Is the show really watchable? Based on the premise alone I don't think I could sit through an episode.

It's brutal to watch sometimes.

Sometimes there are moments where the person that shows up is blindsided and talks to Chris Hanson candidly, but otherwise it's not something I'd say I'd look forward to actively watching.

What's not hilarious is your throwaway, drive-by post.

Yeah, because your post that semi defends people looking for kid pussy on the internet really needs to be refuted and beat down with extensive arguments, right?

Pedophiles get publicly shamed when they were about to fuck a 13 or 14 year old, the horror. Parents get paranoid about what their kids do on the internet, such a unforgivable act.

There was this old man in the first show with a screen name called "hambubger" and it still cracks me up. Also it gave me the classic line, "imma gonna lick u good". Do you people really want to lose out on classic moments like these?

IDK why but I can't stop laughing at, "Hambubger"

Thanks for putting words in my mouth. "Semi defend"? Really?

No, I don't defend pedophiles. Not at all. But this show is trashy for its intended purpose: it's mindless entertainment and also forces a great deal of parents to assume the worst out of any man. It's cute that you think this show is informative.

There are actually good reasons that entrapment is illegal.

I wouldn't call any of the cases on the show entrapment. Those chat logs are pretty damning.

We also don't really know if these cases hold up when the show's done filming, so for all we know those men can end up being released because of not enough tangible evidence to hold up in court, but public shaming may be enough to get them away from children.

It really grew tasteless and cannon fodder when it became less about Chris Hanson actually engaging them and more about the cops showing off in force for the viewer.

hopefully they have stretch goals for submitting your kid's headshot for chatbait. i really want to break my kids into the entertainment industry, and this seems like a good way to get them on the map.

Why would you have anything to worry about?

If it's mindless, don't watch it. In what way does the show give way to implications that are harmful to you?

You just plopped words into my mouth. I also have no idea what to make of that bolded sentence, what are you talking about? Also never said the show was informative, its a goofy as fuck show that's is indeed pretty entertaining. I have some empathy for people that are attracted to kids and hate that fact or facet of themselves, but I'm not going to feel bad for dudes that cruise the internet looking to fuck kids.

Assume the worst out of any man. I dunno dude, I never ran into people that shielded their kids because Zach the Best Buy employee or Sam the family accountant said hi to a family.

You might be able to be a decoy yourself if they find the right kids clothes for you. Its all about the acting ability, be the kid.

There would be no one to "entrap" if they weren't searching for little kids and actively going after them off-line. I have no sympathy for anyone who gets caught.

I have a problem with a camera news group doing this. Thats what the police/fbi or whatever's responsibility. I have a problem with news/media being directly involved in this.

Besides, the court ruled against them when guy shot himself. The video from that showed that the police were more interested in looking cool in front of the cameras instead of making a proper arrest.

Anyone got a good summary that isn't longer than War and Peace?

Basically a TX county prosecutor got busted and killed himself if I remember correctly. I remember hearing on the news that the charges were dismissed against other people busted in that particular sting as well because of the whole ordeal.

Weren't they skirting a lot of corners before and basically none of the people they arrested went to jail?

A lot of the people they arrested went to jail. I graduated high school with a guy who was busted and arrested in the Georgia investigation. He spent 2 years in jail.

The second-to-last one they did was in Murphy, TX. That one was so poorly done by the local police department that the local DA threw out all the cases and didn't charge anyone. That's also the one where a DA from another town killed himself after he figured out he was about to be arrested.

This show has always been a guilty pleasure for me. I like it, but I don't really feel good about liking it. I'm not sure if I would support it coming back, though.

Fuck him. Nothing wrong with hunting down predators, but Chris Hansen is a giant douche by parading them around on TV purely for entertainment value.

He killed himself at the scene?

In at least a couple of cases, it was. Obviously there's nothing wrong with arresting pedophiles who attempt to prey on children, but Perverted Justice is a pretty sketchy organization itself, and attempting to profit off of policing is kind of gross.

Was there a single person on TCAP who actually was a child predator and not just a loser playing out fantasies on AOL chat?

Use Kickstarter money to entrap a bunch of people and ruin their lives? Sounds like a good idea.

lol no it doesn't.

If you're talking about sexual shit with minors on the internet you deserve to have your life ruined. Pedophiles are predators.
