LTTP: Final Fantasy 7

I bought a playstation tv yesterday, the Vita games that I wanted to play don't work sadly.

So, treating the purchase as a PSOne/PSP player, thought I'd finally give this game a fair shake.

Any tips are welcome, music is great so far

GG Aeris whenever she departs

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
The best video game... IN THE WORLD!

Game is fantastic and holds up very well. My first time playing through was only 2 years ago and I thought it was a great FF all the way around; summons, characters, mechanics, story.

All great.

make sure you don't miss

Enemy Skill is awesome, use it.

Killing the Zolom and getting Beta at the beginning of the game is fun, but you probably aren't going to be able to do it.

Cloud - Barret - Cid for manly party

Cloud - Tifa - Yuffie for pimping

Cloud - Red - Cait Sith for weirdos

Also, don't you dare leave the Honey Bee Inn before having explored EVERYTHING.

Played FF7 around 20 times since '97.

P.S: Never actually played with Cait Sith in the party, didn't like his toy boy after all.

Literally just defeated it.

Someone going to help me find Tifa in the forest? Any actual tips pls, I need them ;_;
Assuming you mean Yuffie? Just go to a forest area (you can reach one to the south as soon as you leave Midgar) and keep getting in battles until you encounter her.

It really is an amazing game.

The pacing from the very beginning of the game to the first town is simply the best.

Oh and another good tip is to give Barret a long-range weapon (so you can put him in the back row for double the defense), then give him the Cover and Counter Materia.

He is the ultimate FF7 tank and IMO the best party member period.

But that's Cid. He lights dynamite with a cigar and gives zero fucks.

Best JRPG I've ever played. Its also the first JRPG I ever played and none has matched it for me in regards to story, characters, music and whole package.

You should have original paper manual that came with the game.

It is the only companion player ever needed. You could actually LEARN everything as game was unvieling around your play.

It is better thing to experience the game than any walktrough, etc.

I still have it and I will keep it forever.

Playing on Retroarch with Lotte's CRT shader for that authentic 1996 experience. Feels good, man.

I've.. I've never beaten it. It's time to amend that.

It's a good game, don't listen to the haters, and the character models aren't that big of a deal.

I'd say they aged better than FFVIII's =X

Anyway, OP, the only tip I have is to remember that Yuffie and Vincent are missable characters, so look for them. Also fight the Weapons.

Lvl 53 before I ever left the farm area one time just for kicks. I fucked that snake up in ways it never saw coming. I will do it again in the ps4 version because I can.

My absolute favorite game ever made. I remember playing it for the first time more fondly than losing my virginity.

I'd play the game through normally the first time and then read a FAQ to figure out how to
do the trick that brings Aeris back to life
.

It's easy enough to do without grinding. Getting Beta is slightly harder than just killing it though since you need to keep up with its HP and get the elemental materia from the mayor.

The Magic Defense that armor is supposed to give is bugged and doesn't work. You have to raise the Spirit stat instead.

Amazing game. Almost as good as Final Fantasy IX.
And X. And XII.

The soundtrack is great. The character models aren't, but the pre-rendered backgrounds are well done, even if they are horribly low resolution.

General tips:

-Don't overload your party with elemental and summon materia, they cut your stats pretty heavily.
-Make sure Barret is in the back row with a long range weapon at all times. I'll cut down on the damage he receives. I think his HP and defense is pretty high so give him the Cover materia so he can take hits for weaker party members. His Mindblow or whatever it's called Limit break is good on ememies who cast a lot of magic.
-Equip an Enemy Skill materia to each party member as soon as you obtain them. There are powerful enemy abilities you can get early in the game like Trine & Aqualung that are useful through the game.
-Cure All is a must. In fact level up as many All materia as you can.
-All hail Bugenhagen.

I played it for the first time in 2010 Feb-May and then replayed it over 1 week in Christmas 2010. It definitely holds up in these days of HD graphics, it's an astonishingly good game.

Your timing may be a bit off though to start a playthrough now. The PS4 port of the PC version should be out in the next few weeks.

Yep, not only because they are useful, they sure are, but because they are easy to get to max level and sell for a lot of money.

Of course you won't need money if you use the duplicate items glitch, but you are not a cheater, are you?

I played through it for the first time a couple years ago, still a great game.

Nostalgia is the reason why people consider it the GOAT though. Not that it doesn't deserve to be in the conversation but I think Chrono Trigger/FF6 are better
