Nintendo Direct: new presentation on April 1st

Also, this might be the first year you can seriously say that Wii U has more compelling software than 3DS. I hope they are saving a couple big guns for E3

Chrono trigger was exactly like that, and was a vastly better combat system when active mode was on. Active mode was one of several of Chrono triggers huge leaps forward on the genre.

Xenoblade has a Wait mode too?

I always play Chrono Trigger with Wait mode on. I don't like Active mode.
To me, it's vastly worse and a huge leap backward

My predictions for the fall lineup:

September: Mario Maker and Xenoblade Chronicles X (I hope)

October: Yoshi's Wooly World and Fatal Frame

November: Animal Crossing U (they're pushing the series really hard this has to exist) and maybe Star Fox

This direct pretty much confirms Nintendo is abandoning the Wii U early. They have so few games that are coming to the Wii U.

I think people are forgetting that E3 is in two months. Let's, at the very least, see what they have to show at that event before freaking out.

Lol what, wiiU obliterated the 3DS in 2014
MK8 Smash Bayonetta 1+2 how does the 3DS even stand a chance ?

Yeah, I suppose that's true. This year seems even more so, and only because of the real lack of 3DS software. Majora and MH4 were great, but they look to be the highlight of the year unless they announce some big stuff.

The username and post, dear God....

haha, I'm not sure if I'm glad that post landed at the top of the page.

For the record I don't think nintendo actually won the console war due to 200 cc MK, but I am excited to play it!

SMTxFE and a couple others look interesting enough that I'm not going to sell my Wii U anymore, which had crossed my mind after the zelda delay got me thinking they were dropping support sooner than later.

People complaining about DLC

So basically people who don't believe that good post-launch content should exist like, ever, and ignoring the many, many pleas that people have had for extra content for the games that are getting them? And the DLC is actually good and not just a day-one moneygrab?

"It's tough to be a Nintendo fan these days", what's with all the faux concern?

I doubt we will ever see DQVII. Same with the music game.

Bravely Second needs some to be localized.

I thought we were going to get that in the Direct, but it ended up being a Xenoblade 3DS trailer. :(

They teased Bravely Second at the end of Bravely Default, they can't leave us hanging!

Loved this direct. I am getting FE X SMT, Splatoon, and Fatal Frame U for the Wii U. I was hoping for Bravely Second and Dragon Quest VII 3DS remake to be announced. I am getting Fire Emblem IF though. As for the n64 and ds virtual console. I hope they release Ogre Battle 64 and a ton of rpgs from the DS.

Xenoblade has a Wait mode too?

Chrono trigger pioneered an active mode you pretended didnt exist?

Chrono triggers active mode was vastly superior, and far more mentally engaging than wait mode, which is why it was the default selection, and was one of many leaps to the genres combat that Makoto Shimamoto helped chrono trigger pioneer, and that he brought back to the table for Xenoblade.

It's hard being a Nintendo fan anymore, it really is. All I want, is new quality first party games. No extraneous bullshit. What do you Wii U owners even have to look forward to this year? Yoshi's Wally World and Splatoon? Oh wow, I'm so pumped.
Fuck these quality first party games, where are my quality first party games?

I'm not sure what your point is. I'm not a Sony fan.

I'm a The Last of Us fan.

Yoshi's Wally World does absolutely zero for me. Splatoon is exciting since it's the first new IP from Nintendo in quite some time, but I don't really like the art style. I'd be more than willing to give it a chance though.

I don't get it either. DLC for something like Smash and Mario Kart is great because they're a once a generation thing. That's good post-content DLC.

Good:
Lucas confirmed, NoA has now trolled MOTHER 3 English release TWICE, new Fire Emblem looks good (So long as the "obviously evil" side actually becomes pretty grey if you play as them), Mewtwo looks sleek, and Splatoon continues to be good, Inkling girl amiibo @_@

Bad:
Was actually pretty upset how SMT x FE turned out.
Smash voting will result in an Internet Bloody Kansas
FE games tend to be pretty good at having the evil side grey or at least parts of them.

Heh, 3DS has absolutely nothing for the rest of the year but that AC spinoff. System is in dire need of big games. Pokémon Z pls.
There are plenty of candidates but they're stuck in Japan. :(

Honestly, I was most looking forward to a trailer of DLC pack 2 for Mario Kart.

As Iwata showed the Animal Crossing track, I was like "it's alright".
Then he explained how the course changes, I was like "you have my interest now".

Then the new speed mode.

Mario Maker in September
Wooly World in October
StarFox in November
Xenoblade X in December

What a great time to be a Wii U owner!

Please don't let that be the brunt of their holiday slate. I mean, I'll get all of those (though I realistically will play Mario Maker for like 10 minutes), but none of them are real heavy hitters. StarFox certainly isn't a big enough title to hang your November on.

Once upon a time Nintendo would release a game every month.

Sigh.

I'm really regretting falling for the Wii U hype this past winter and buying one. Glad I held off on the new 3ds.

Oh well, 200cc is a pleasant surprise

Man I am kinda bummed out. Great time still to own a 3DS but the Wii U was so underwhelming. The one game I could always hope for in SMT x FE did not interest me at all.

On the fence if I want to keep it right now. Xenoblade might be the only game I buy on the system until Zelda comes out, whenever that is.

Meh direct, but it's hilarious how the fanboys circle around like vultures when there's an opportunity to poke fun at nintendo.

And keep quoting ninjablade guys. It's real productive.

I dunno, if it's a Starfox in the same vein as 64.... none of that on-land, third person shooting bullshit, I think that'd be worthy of the hype for a November game for sure.
