Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Question, guys:

I am eyeing up buying the bundle for $60 on sale right now. I know that Vita game compatibility is spotty, but how is PSP compatibility? If a PSP game is playable on Vita is it playable on PSTV, or is that case by case as well? Thanks.

It case by case, it should be every game, but the white list prevents some games from playing. The biggest ones that don't work are Konami games, Castlevania Dracula X Chronices, Metal Gear Solid Peace Walker, etc.

yeah, sucks bad that Gradius Collection doesn't work.

Werd, I actually cannot believe they don't put a DS4 with it, the DS3 is pretty useless about half the time when you are using it for PS4 streaming, ended up buying a camo DS4 to use with it.
Vita tv came out before the ps4, they copied the same bundle strategy which involved the standard unit and the day bundle, plus the ds4 controllers are still pricey.

anyone have a problem with their DS4 not registering button presses or analog movement because it wasn't in the line of sight of the PSTV? for some reason I need to be in the line of sight for it to work register.

Just picked one of these up and got to mess with it over the weekend. I was ready to take to return it but setting my frame rate setting to High instead of Standard fixed the horrible choppiness and lag. This little block is a beast for running remote play. I ran it wireless and barely noticed lag. Beat two bosses in bloodborne even. Wired makes this the remote play the killer feature it needs to be. Extremely happy with it wired but I am still pleased with it wireless.

I think that's just the DS4. The range is horrible compared to the DS3. I have issues with the PSTV and the PS4. I'm talking less than 10 ft away.

For $60 there's really no reason not to get it. Even it's "spotty" compatibility covers hundreds of games. If you are even remotely interested in playing these games on the big screen just do it.

If you're looking to play a specific game it would be best to find out if it works. If you are not interested in playing any games on the big screen there's not much reason to use it outside of remoteplay.

Go into Power Save Settings and make sure "Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode" is unchecked too.

I started using a DS4 with my PSTV, it was awful. Went back to a DS3 and never had any issue again.

If I stick my hands behind my head (which I actually do fairly often when playing games since it's comfortable) it won't register button presses. I just keep my hands in front of me when playing on the PSTV.

Having a bit of a weird experience on my PSTV at the moment.

Downloading the Killzone patch is incredibly slow, 1MB every 15~ seconds. However if I pause that and let the Harry Potter game download, it is really quick at 1MB per second.

So what is the Killzone patch on a server at the north pole or something?

messing with remote play last night and I realized that direct connect to VITA was not turned on.

I turned that on and now my 60fps Remote play on my vita is like fucking perfect.

will I get the same results with a Playstation TV in my bedroom with a DS4??

please say yes.

Just got through a weird situation. I was playing on my PSTV earlier today, put it on standby and went to have lunch. When I got back to it, the TV wouldn't display anything from my PSTV. It was on, the controller was on, but nothing. Changed the HDMI port, cable, everything, but this TV wouldn't show anything ("no signal" error).

Decided to try it on my bedroom TV and it worked. Went back to the living room again, same error. I wonder if my PSTV and the living room's TV don't want to play nice again.

I just ordered a PSTV along with a few games I've been wanting to play:
-P4G
-KZ:M
-Toukiden:Kiwami

and looking forward to playing some of my owned digital titles PS+/PSP/PS1:
-TxK
-Maverick Hunter X
-SF Alpha 3 Max

I might end up buying an actual Vita in the future too.

Could be something with the HDMI settings, try turning it to 480p before going to your living room/not bedroom tv. otherwise it could be an odd setting on the tv.

If you like JRPGs, get Demon Gaze - it's PSTV compatible

I'll try that, even though it's set as automatic and the TV should detect it.

P4G alone was worth my $99 purchase. Best game I've ever played.

Playing Conception II right now and it isn't as bad as I was told....so far.

I just reviewed it in a different thread, so won't spend much time here - -but yes, it sounds great early on... lots of interesting combat mechanics and systems (chain gauge, positional combat, cool weak points, 3x3 child formations with tons of unlockable classes and hidden skills based on your team composition)... but it all falls apart when you realize you can auto-combat through the entire game, rendering all those cool systems pointless and turning the game into a mindless grind. It suffers from incredibly poor enemy balancing.

If you're considering the PS Vita and are even a bit interested in some PS Vita games, then honestly I think you should just have bought a PS Vita.

You won't need to check which game is compatible with PS TV etc and PS Vita is all around a much, much better device.

Of course if you want to play on the TV it isn't really an alternative. But otherwise, it's superior in every way.

It feels incredibly easy right now; I can OHKO most enemies.

I will definitely look into it, thanks for the recommendation!

Great to hear! I've been wanting to play P4G since it came out, but could never pull the trigger on a Vita. Now that PSTV is super cheap it's worth it to dive in and give it a shot.

I understand completely. I am going to keep the PSTV because I do prefer to game on a TV (I'll be using a Sony 32" 720p TV for the PS TV). When I buy a Vita in the future I will make sure to pick up all the Vita exclusives at that point.

I was going to start a thread about this, but I figured asking it here would be just as good.

Persona 3: FES vs Portable.

I haven't seen a deal since that Amazon Gold Box. Where was the $60 deal?

I really want to know this. Is there a PS TV bundle for $60 somewhere?

I liked FES more because it had a better sense of environment and wandering around the school was fun, especially when the seasons changed. It also has good cutscenes and the extra FES campaign. However, it's hard to deny that P3P's interface is faster, and it has the girl stuff.

It seems like, looking at the list of difference between the two, FES has the most stuff, but...well, how hard is it to really direct your party? That's my main issue. I am not a fan of not having the option to control your party, that just seems like it'd be a pain all around.

I didn't really care (never stood out to me as a crazy huge problem, and I turned it off in P4 sometimes), but most people consider the party control a major selling point for P3Portable.

I did that, my TV still won't display anything from my PSTV. I'm out of ideas here, why my living room's TV won't display anything from my PSTV but every other TV will.
