Yakuza... Dead Souls as reps!? Well w/e its still Kiryu & Majima!

Vergil but no Nero?! Hope they'll announce him later!

Haseo! 3rd Form at that! Nice. Usually they just pander to his default 1st form. But where's BlackRose?!

Hooray for Leon! Was hoping he'd make it to the party!

That Xiaomu and Reiji teaser smells awfully like "we're the bad guys this time around" or "they kidnapped us pls save us"
I hope i'm wrong, i really want to use them again.

Yeah pretty sure Mii and Kogoro will be in this time around too... sadly i would say, they could replace them with mannequins and no one would notice.

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
I'm 90% certain that Monolithsoft was only there to support Banpresto who was the main developer.
Monolithsoft developed NxC though, and did the original gameplay systems.

The director of all these games is Soichiro Morizumi from Monolith... who is originally from Banpresto. It's pretty much the only reason for the collaboration though.

Soft.

Monolith are the F.E.A.R. guys ;)

That's Monolith Productions. Informally MonolithSoft is MLSI, but people just say Monolith and it's not really a big deal.

Yeah, this looks pretty cool.

Seems like it's still just Namco/Sega/Capcom, which is totally fine.

Looks nice, but it's probably the same old thing from this guy sadly.

Wonder why they're not on the trailer.
Heck, they're not even in the company roll, right below where they're listed.

They don't have copyright on the IPs.

Jill, Erica, and Natsu (and teaser Xiaomu) are the only females shown in this first trailer everyone else is a dude. Guess they're holding out on the other kind of fanservice for future trailers lol.

Maybe they decided to move the franchise in a different direction?

It could happen.

If it wasn't for us, this game wouldn't be happening. It tanked in Japan.

What about no.

PS2 Namco x Capcom 85,427 131,615

NDS Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier 90,248 120,556
NDS Super Robot Wars OG Saga: Endless Frontier Exceed 78,773 100,089

3DS Project X Zone 93,756 130,685

Holy fuck, basically simulatenous release O_O

Yeah. That part is REALLY surprising

Kinda weird seeing Bamco pushing stuff like this and J-Stars Victory in the West

If only they gave us God Eater 2 and Digimon Vita instead

I think it's a really telling thing though. That PxZ 2 is being made with a localization in mind from the start

Ask me about the moon landing or the temperature at which jet fuel burns. You may be surprised at what you learn.
This is actually happening.

Probably gonna pick it up, Hope they address some of the concerns.

I remember it was damn low on the MC chart when it came out. I guess it had legs.

Regardless, it did fantastic here.

Would make a lot of sense, if they really were trying to appeal to the Western crowd this time around (considering the first game sold better here than it did in Japan).

The fact there's now a coinciding US trailer seems to directly hint at that.

It was ranked 3rd, but the sell through was about 60%.
For this type of game, it's pretty low, so I imagine a good portion of the game sold at reduced prices (not bomba bin though).

You know what. Fuck it. They wanna make this the game with 'everyone' in it and go crazy like Midway/NRS did with Mortal Kombat Armageddon

We all know who's gonna be in next

According to Gameblog, Bandai-Namco said it sold 400 000 units in West.

Wait. How much did they sell through? Cause for a niche title like this that sounds extremely impressive

Wow, near simultaneous release. Namco is really serious about overseas.

I'm almost kind of tired of saying this, but Namco's had one hell of a turnaround in those regards in the last few years.

Just saw the trailer. The fact that there's potentially more newcomers makes me even more excited for this.

Strider and Hotsuma? fuuuuu gonna have to break out my 3ds again. They picked the worst version of Leon Kennedy though..

Hopefully Bahn from fighting vipers is in it. he was my surprise favorite from the first one.

Strider is in this one? Awww yeah!

Sega:

Bayonetta
Sonic
Agent G

Capcom:

Gene
Asura
Ryu (BoF3)
Regina
Jin Saotome

Please deliver these characters! (〒︿〒)

Seems to be the worldwide figure (though I'm using a translator, still the 400k figure is in a separate sentence from the Western release bit).
The Japanese shipment was about 150k.

The way I understand it, and I'm a native french speaker, it sold 400k units for its english version, so western one. Also, success in west is the reason for this sequel.

That seems...a lot. It should be shipped, though. But it's still a lot (considering the kind of title). Hopefully, the actual sales are near enough to the shipped ones.

We were told "400.000 vendus dans le monde" which means "400.000 sold worldwide." So it seems that they were talking about games sold to the public. But publishers sometimes get confused when they talk about that.

And they did say that the first one was a big success.

Oh... the article seemed to imply 400k was for the english version.

Maybe! The regular fanservice (characters, injokes/references, remixed music, settings) is more then good enough for me!

Would make a lot of sense, if they really were trying to appeal to the Western crowd this time around (considering the first game sold better here than it did in Japan).

The fact there's now a coinciding US trailer seems to directly hint at that.
Appealing to us first could be bad though... all they need ta do is do what they did with the first game only better! Ruining the magic formula to appeal to a certain group is rarely a good thing!

Man. As neat as this is I really wish these companies would team up to make a fighting game instead. That would get so much more play from me; I got burned out halfway through the first PxZ.

This makes me wonder about the roster. If it sold well because of the west, will they include more characters that're bigger in the US than in Japan? Though perhaps they'll go for a balance, considering the simultaneous release.

Even still, 40k does seem like a reasonable (extremely conservative) prediction from the vantage point of BN thinking they were going out on a hell of limb on localizing the first game.

If they indeed are changing the roster/previous teams because of what they think will appeal to the West, doesn't that say something incredibly interesting about some of the niche stuff that's been more readily localized (NISA stuff, etc.) compared to having to pull teeth for Yakuza 5 to be localized ? I mean, apparently Disgaea 5 is doing the worst the franchise has ever done.

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
Does this have Breath of Fire cast in it?

Also are these guys mostly cosmetic or do they, ya know, like, actually have stories/personalities? never played original
