PlayStation Network Thread | April 2015

It's amazing what the recent trend of ordering review scores from lowest to highest in those threads does for the perception of the userbase. Almost frightening in its effect.
Yeah it's true. I honestly hate seeing a number put in front of a game. I like what some websites do now the "Buy" or "Don't buy" or "Like" and "Dislike".

Reviewers should tell me about the game, how it plays, what the premise is about, and whether they recommend that I buy it or not. Putting a number in front of a game means nothing, I like more games that get average scores than the ones that get 9s or 90s.

I'm back to hating Sony and their customer support again. $130 to repair stuck pixels on a console that hasn't even been out a full year. It was $70 before, what the hell happened? It's like they piled their entire customer service team together and told them conflicting information.

I have spent literally thousands of dollars on Sony over the years but I am done with them after today. I have clearly bet on the wrong horse.

Does anyone know anywhere else to get the EnglishAsian version of Oreshika on the Vita? I have an order with Playasia that I have a pretty good feeling they won't be able to fulfil and I'd rather order elsewhere, I've had no luck finding the game anywhere else though.

It's a difficult issue, though. A game released at $60 might be well loved, but what if it's not a 'buy' until it hits $20? I almost feel like reviewers should just say 'I'd pay $30 for this!' but even that wouldn't work since people have differing bank accounts.

if you haven't had it for a year, shouldnt it be under warranty? if not with sony, then maybe even with your credit card? anyway, deep breath, you're still on the right horse even if it stumbled in this case.

You're right. I'm overreacting but I just had to vent. I'm sure this is the third or fourth time I've outright stated I'm done with Sony. It takes me feel like I at least have a little control in all of this. I'm just so fed up with their customer support at this point, though. I've been fed conflicting information every time I talk to someone else and it's frustrating.

I haven't looked into doing anything involving the credit card but maybe I should.

Look at ray gigant, doesn't it look uber awesome? :)

Does anyone know if the retail copy of the Ratchet & Clank Collection for the Vita is all on the cart or would the third game be a download code?
.

All three games are on the cart but Going Commando has a very odd game breaking bug; when loading between planets, the game crashes, but when you load it back up, the game loads to the new planet you were going to before the crash. This only happens in the retail version, as the digital version doesn't have this issue (I guess they patched the digital version before launch and the retail prints had the bug pre-installed on them.....and Sony never bothered to fix it :l).

But way, all three games are in one spot and it isn't like the Sly Collection (which had 1 and 2 on the cart but the third game as a 2.7GB download).

Does that mean you can't finish the game when playing the retail version?

I don't own the retail version, but it should still be possible to beat the retail version, as when it crashes, you restart back to the new planet you were traveling too.

If anything, just wait for a sale on the digital version of the collection; it might be cheaper then a retail copy and you will know for sure that it will work.

It's odd people have such differing experiences. I had to have my DS4 exchanged, and it took maybe 5 minutes on the phone to set it up and I had a new one (maybe refurb, but looked perfect) lickety split.

Customer service in general sucks. It's gotten progressively worse since the 80s (in general, not talking about Sony specifically) for several reasons not worth getting into.

I'm not totally sure I understand how you got where you were though -- if the first person quoted you one price, didn't you set it all up and have it done? Or did you say you'd call back instead? If you get a different, more expensive quote, you should just tell them that...and if they push back, just ask for a manager and explain the situation.

RE: credit cards -- i don't know the specifics (my wife does) but many credit cards now extend warranties, the amount of time depends on your card. We've never had to make use of it, but it's definitely worth looking into. Just make sure they don't do a chargeback or anything -- i don't think they do though.

Just finished Bravely Default. Any suggestions on which Vita game to play next from PSPLUS? Really want to tackle P4G but want to take a break from JRPGs.

P4G
Killzone Merc
Rogue Legacy
The Binding of Isaac

Never touched any of these except a little bit of P4G.

You finished Bravely Default?
You poor soul, that second half of the game... Man lol.
Anyway, P4G is a great game, but it is a very long one too. I would say play Killzone. It's a great shooter, looks and feels great, and it isn't too long. You may even be able to find matches online since other PS+ peeps are playing it now.

You can't go wrong with Persona 4 Golden.

If you need a non-(J)RPG palate cleanser, Killzone Mercenary's it.

Was it a mistake to use a CC to fund my Bastion purchase? Didn't want to go out this late and I deleted the info right after.

Second half is where BD:FF shines. Haters claim that they have to do the entire game over again multiple times but that's just not the case. Shit's different! All of the fun fights, best equipment to steal, the best dialogue, all there. The true ending is 100% worth it and even if you wanted to rush through it you could get there in an hour no problem.

Regarding the Mega Man series on Vita, I think all Capcom has to do is port over the PS1 versions of MM5 and 6 to the West and add Mega Man X 3 and X6 as a PS1 Classics to 'complete' the Mega Man PS1 series collection.

Sadly, that excludes the Legends series; Capcom couldn't port those over even if they wanted to due to VA issues (apparently one of the US/EU VA's was involved in a crime or something, so they don't want to associate with them or something). They could localize the PSP ports of the Legends 1 and 2 that JP got but it still wouldn't be that great due to missing the NA/EU VA (a big highlight of the Legends series was its cast of characters; losing their VA would be a sour compromise in getting the games on PSN :l).

A good thing is that if you have a CFW Vita, you could load the PS1 ISO's to the Memory Card and play the game that way, but that opens up a whole other set of issues (downgrading firmware, losing access to PSN, ect).

....At least we got the first 4 of of the Classic series on PSN alongside X4 and X5 :). Those two were very recent additions to PSN too, so their is home of Capcom releasing more PS1 classics or PSP games in the future on PSN :D.

It breaks my heart megaman legends will never be officially on my vita. Both games are great especially megaman legends 2( one my favorite psx games)the somewhat erie exploration of megaman legends 2 is one of my favorite things ever.

I feel like it's a case of people who suffered through FFXIII and think it's a masterpiece.

So anyone knows if the physical Asian release of chaos rings 3 for vita has English subs? I'm actually very interested in getting this.

Pretty sure Chaos Rings 3 was the only one of the Chaos Rings releases without English subs.

Edit; Was reading around out of curiosity and it looks like the game was scheduled to get a patch in 2014 that added languages other than Japanese (doesn't specify to what extent, though I assume it'd be subtitles). Not sure if the patch landed or not, but worth asking around to find out.

The first two is in english but the third is not.

Thought it seemed to good to be true that they would just add English subtitles to the game through patch, but they only added the text for first games? Pretty odd, I hope 3 follows, maybe too late though to hope for that.

Probably is chaos rings 3 , well this is interesting for sure I'll try to bring a copy to Argentina. Wish me luck!

The first 2 games and prequel were patched for English. However the 2 games and prequel games are download codes only redeemable on Asian PSN. The cart only contains the third game.

I could help you w the LE if you so desire
btw, when you boot the game - does it say SCEJA or SCEE or SCEA?

It just says

"Sony Computer Entertainment Presents"

The title screen shows read this though:

Oreshika: Tainted Bloodlines 2015 Sony Computer Entertainment Inc.
Published by Sony Computer Entertainment Europe. Developed by SCE Japan Studios.

It's not quite so black and white. While I agree that I had the most fun gameplaywise in that phase, it is also a really poorly structured, asset recycling boss gauntlet that messes up the overall pacing. The game just stumbled over its own story ideas in the second half and cheaped out on the budget side of things.

I feel like it's a case of people who suffered through FFXIII and think it's a masterpiece.

People are crazy, yeah. But let's not compare an average-to-good handheld RPG with one of the biggest failures of last gen on consoles, the games, and the perceptions surrounding them, are on a completely different scale.

idk man i don't think it's anything special

best combat in a turn based system that's not smt. ya'll crazy

I think the combat system is an absolute masterpiece, though the plot and pacing are a wreck at times. The story is pretty much incomprehensible, actually.

But the combat system is brilliant -- a major issue that plagues most turn based combat is that every move is rote. You know exactly what you need to do - hit the ice monster with fire spells, or just attack/attack/attack/heal. It's extremely rare in most games that you're actually provided with meaningful choice in combat.

So FFXIII let's the AI handle that level of combat (for example, once your characters identify an enemies weakness, they know how to intelligently attack it) and moves the player's tactical decisions 'up' a level -- controlling at a high level who is attacking/buffing/healing/etc and letting the AI take care of the obvious stuff. Brilliant. Not perfect, and some areas need fixing, but it's just such a smart take on combat.

Does that mean you can't finish the game when playing the retail version?

From what I understand, you can't get some treasure finder item because you can't land on the planet that you get it from without the game properly crashing.

Supposedly there is a work around involving pressing the PS button at an exact moment, but I haven't tried it myself.
