What Does Sony Have For The Holidays?

We don't know about any big AAA game Sony has for the holidays. We don't even know of any AAA marketing deals with 3rd party games.

In comparison, here's Microsofts plan.
Exclusives:
-Halo 5
-Rise Of The Tomb Raider
-Forza 6

Multiplatform Marketing Deals/Partnerships/Bundles/etc
-Black Ops 3 (Assumed)
-Battlefront(???)
-Assassin's Creed(Assuming last year's deal wasn't a one-time thing)

We literally know know nothing about Sony's plans except the following.
-Ratchet & Clank Reboot (I don't think this is confirmed either)
-Uncharted Collection?(Rumored)

It's unlikely they'll announce something at E3 and release this holiday. So unless I'm missing something big, I think that Sony is in for a rough holiday.

EDIT: It's come to my attention that Playstation related official accounts have been tweeting out Star Wars images lately so that makes it very likely that Battlefront partnership is indeed with Playstation.

Lackluster selling copies of Ratchet and Clank and Tearaway that simultaneously make me happy with their whimsy and sad that they don't pull the numbers that cartoony platformers used to...

Unless some people really got their shit together which is unlikely, Ratchet and Clank will be the big Sony published game this holiday.

Maybe they will at least have some co marketing deals though. Last year was a bad combo of SCE C tier games + No 3rd party deals. Not a good look for them. They normally dont have that many games for the holidays but 2014 was especially rough.

At this point I doubt it matters. I personally think they had weaker line ups for the past two holidays and they did great. Feels like PS2 Momentum but without the glut of great exclusive titles.

Didn't we just have this console war thread just a couple of weeks ago?

Anyway, it looks like Sony will be nabbing marketing exclusivity on EA's Star Wars: Battlefront.

Can't really say much more except wait for E3. Doubt there will be any wide scale pleasing AAA title to be [ugh] 'pit against' Halo, but who knows.

Edit:

We could get No Man's Sky this holiday. Could see something from Santa Monica and Guerrilla Games at E3, though neither will make holiday 2015. That horror adventure title Until Dawn hits sometime in the Summer.

Nothing wrong with putting the ball in the third-party's court, depending on the players. If they have a Battlefront and have the proper marketing behind it, that'll likely already go a long way.

For Sony, right?

Exclusives:

-Rise Of The Tomb Raider - Hmm...
I know Tomb Raider is coming to PS4,but we don't know when. Could be 6 months later or even a year.

Sony has Battlefront marketing

They also have marketing for Metal Gear TPP.
That hasn't been confirmed and considering that EA/MS partnership, I would assume this one would go to Microsoft, no?

The official website makes no mention of either.

Sony really seems to focus on getting games out in earlier parts of the year and just getting through the holidays on the usual AC, CoD, BF hype and I'm OK with that. They won't have to have their big games fight off the heavy hitters and will get more attention when they do release because of that. They have a good number of smaller, interesting titles coming this summer and will be riding high off of Arkham and MGSV comarketing sales boosts going into the holidays.

There's one of these threads like once a month now. I don't understand the focus on holiday exclusives. Sony makes use of the entire calendar.

Why would Battlefront be a MS thing when Hardline was a Sony thing?

Hardline wasn't really a Sony thing. It appeared at Sony's E3 conference but it never really anything past that. There was no exclusive mention during Hardline commercials and it appears in Microsoft's recent montage commercial.

That said if anyone was getting exclusive marketing rights to Battlefront it'd be Sony. They'll need it much more and I can see them throwing almost everything at it.

Other than the better versions of most multiplat games and a system people are buying more of, and paying more for, than an Xbox One?

I think we're going to have some nice surprises at E3 but honestly I'm not sure Sony needs any.

On the topic of Battlefront comarketing, Playstation accounts have been tweeting about Celebration a good deal while no word has come from MS. Seems likely that their presence at the con means that there will be some sort of deal there. We'll find out tomorrow.

It's not a console war thread, iits a "WTF Is Sony doing for the holidays" thread.

If they really do have Battlefront then I do think I jumped the gun. We'll know tomorrow right?

Don't worry, I'll vouch for them.

Not sure why you think MS is a shoe in for the Battlefront marketing. It has just been heavily rumored that Sony has it.

That'd be awkward considering it's playable first on Xbox One. Maybe this means EA Access on PS4

Hopefully they have a big game ready to go. Going up against Halo, Tomb Raider, and I'm assuming Forza is kind of ridiculous. I mean I'm far more interested in Tearaway and Persona than those games, but as far as sales this holiday is going to be a serious test.

But if Sony's sales lead in the first 9-10 months is completely erased in the holidays, don't you think there's a problem with that strategy?

In terms of sales, the biggest games this fall will yet again be multiplatform and that's what will sell systems.

Halo's impact will only be felt much in the US, where I think it's largely expected MS will lead for 2-3 months as usual.

I'm disappointed Sony doesn't have a big title revealed for fall, but I'll gladly take a better end product with Uncharted 4.

There will be plenty of other games to play on the system though, it's certainly not going to be lacking content.
