Star Wars Battlefront Trailer, game will be 60 fps

i-find-your-lack-of-faith-disturbing-2.jpg

I find the PS4 versions lack of players disturbing.

They better give us a full 64 player count on PC!!!!!

so its not 40 players across the board on PC and console?

Wait, isn't the game coming with some sort of mission based co-op thingy that can be done offline? We have absolutely no idea how much content is actually on the game and let's be honest, DICE don't know how to make stories for shit. If we're getting something to do offline I'll much rather have these coop mission which might be at least somewhat unique instead of "herp derp watch cinematic and play vs AI on MP maps.

I could be totally wrong, but I'm just not going to jump the gun on this.

Also BF3/4 looks amazing on a good gaming rig. This will look amazing as well.

The only true complaint I can see here is no space battles and thats the biggest WTF considering its star wars, but then again there was that silly MMO star wars game with limited space Battles as well.

Also people complaining about the DLC mustn't have played the previous BF DLC. They actually made some decent shit, my only worry is, however, a split player base, but we'll see.

Other than that I just see a lot of people jumping the gun but I suppose I shouldn't expect different.

It shouldn't be up to consumers to have to rough-estimate what percentage of bullshit was used in a video based on their own experiences. The fault for not knowing that isn't on them.

Almost 4 million views already. You see a bunch wondering even here if it's just different camera angles, or believing Dice employees, or just super excited by the graphics.

People who have common sense but not necessarily computer savvy/familiar with the bs, are supposed to know just how much they are exaggerating with a title slated for future release? No way. Unreasonable.

Nor should they be expected to know the difference between game engine footage and actual gameplay quality in a marketing trailer for general public.

"Vastly different" and "fairly close" depends on how much you can notice, and it changes between people but in actuality it's not going to be. All the settings are going to dropped down significantly.

If that was a PC setting - "Max" the actual max possible graphics that would run decently on top-end would be like medium.

People are saying they're claiming this is a damn PS4 target render, with some involved saying yeah that's how it looks, for real!

Deception.

Just placing that seed of doubt is wrong: "yeah...it probably won't look this good." They're gaining off that and a lot of it has to do with saying this is in-engine (actually, they say "Game Engine Footage," which is worse).

If it's anything else, they ought to have to say Not Actual Gameplay.
-lol, they do, right at the fucking end after the playstation logo, with the other trademark crap, in small text.

The vast majority of core gamers already know that gameplay will never look as good as a scripted cinematic trailer. And casual gamers likely won't even notice the difference and will be amazed by the final game anyway. So what's the huge deal?

I mean, sure, I would prefer if developers would stick to gameplay or at least a mixture of gameplay and cinematics for their trailers, but this is damn near a standard practice in the gaming industry. I haven't seen people acting like this about all the other games whose first trailers were in-engine cinematics. Where was the outrage over The Order 1886, Infamous Second Son and Uncharted 4's initial in-engine non-gameplay trailers?

In any case, we're probably going to see gameplay within about a month or two and this will all be laid to rest.

There's simply no way for either of us to completely prove that what we think is true. All I'll say for now is that I bet you are wrong about what you wrote (the bolded part). We'll know soon enough.

48 player BF>64 player BF.

Of course, it depends a lot on map size and vehicle usage and whatnot, but I like the sound of 20 vs 20. Still a good number of people, but not so much that it makes the battle chaotic.

the uncharted 4 e3 trailer was indeed complete bullshit, but the order and second son delivered on their reveal trailers. battlefront has already seen 1 serious downgrade, and id bet for sure once we have the game in our hands we will experience yet another.

Correct. At least for BF3 and BF4 anyway.

And, arguably, BC2 was even better, with a lower player count to boot.

I don't know shit about Star Wars but this game looks like it's going to be great.

Do I need to watch any of the movies before playing?

Oh Jesus. More has never ever meant better. Peoples obsession with numbers is disturbing.

I'm glad it's a tight 20v20, will make it much more intense.

It completely depends on the size and design of the maps. I hope we get some friggin' huge ones where 64 players make sense, would be a rather sad Battlefront game if everything is smaller just to accommodate that limit.

Nice concept trailer. Captured the very essence of Star Wars

But we all know the game won't look like this on PS4 or Xbone especially at 60fps.

That's some The Order 1886 levels of visual fidelity and that ain't happening across multiplatform.

Sony snatched the marketing rights for this game? It is so prestigious a franchise and so North-American at heart (despite the global success) that it always seemed a good fit for the Xbox Universe...

Also true. I have no doubt it'll be huge, but I'll accommodate everything about the planet it's on and therefore feel way bigger. Dust pits, tonnes of snow, heavy foliage, and AT-AT have to fit on the maps somewhere!

What is this 1 serious downgrade you speak of?

I have never preferred a 64 player match in anything to a 32 or 48 player match. Hell, Gears of War is still a golden experience in multiplayer with 5v5.

Uhhh I'd argue Star Wars is global entity not so much North American.

Maybe back in the 70's but those days are long gone.

Also Microsoft have Halo and their old favourite COD to market later this year. Makes sense for EA to partner with Sony who will give them a very big push and focus for the holidays.

Make no mistake this is basically Sony's big holiday game right now, I think we'll see Destiny levels of marketing/association.

I guess they learned from that by stating this trailer wasn't gameplay in any way.
Except they were saying "Really looks like this!!" and it says representative of PS4 and then already are like "well not 1:1 chill guys"

They are setting up disappointment for some people.

Right....right at the end after the playstation logo, on the trademark screen.

During the actual video of star wars stuff it says clearly "Game Engine Footage."

No one would be confused at all. That's why they did it clear like that!

"EA Presents"
"A DICE game"

No wonder everyone is clear on things.

that statement doesnt even fucking make sense

"representative of playstation 4"

lmao wtf does that even mean. does it mean the prerendered, horribly compressed videos ala bf4 will look like that on ps4? god dice is a joke.

To me that implies that the visuals are supposed to realistically imitate the visual output of a PS4 running the game, but I think we can all see that isn't the case.

It's PR speak for "this is the game running on PC".

Don't get super excited about the game visually based on this trailer. It'll probably look pretty great on consoles, but just remember to keep your expectations in tune with reality when it comes to AAA PR media.

i expect the same thing from dice everytime. their lousy coders doing a bang up job at ruining the great work done by their designers. bf4 designers working with COD coders would be sick.

it wont look like that on any platform. game engine is not the same as in game. think of this as more of a tech demo like the unreal engine 4 demos which show what the engine the game is running on could do without hardware limitations. use of the term "in game engine" is dirty marketing bullshit.

if the game looked this good in gameplay they'd be showing us direct gameplay

The whole reason for these over the top, cinematic, choreographed scenes and montages is because they know the layman or casual observer will just share this shit on Facebook, get likes and get sales. Even though I've no doubt DICE magic will make this look great, it's not about showing off an engine, it's more about cynical marketing IMO and I find this practice misleading and disgusting.

I'm not sure what you're trying to show here. The Battlefront teaser looks essentially the same as the new trailer.

Then I watched the first Battlefield 4 video and it didn't seem different in any meaningful way from my memory of playing through that section on my PC. So I lined up the second video and watched them at the same time and I still don't see anything but fairly minor differences. Nothing I could even conclusively call a downgrade.

I don't understand why more people didn't point this out.
The "game engine footage" is shown for ~4 seconds and clearly visible, the "not actual gameplay" can only really been seen if you stop the video and look for it in that wall of text. Now EA and DICE want ppl to pre order that thing without even showing a second of gameplay. Hmmmm.
We all want the game to be great, but my alarm bells are ringing. Hard.

WRT bf4, i guess cutting out half the light sources, reducing the quality of lights remaining, simplifying the precomputed GI, axing all the reactive particles, removing all of the reflections, removing the water on the floor, downgrading the shaders on the ocean, and reducing the geometry of the level cant be conclusively called a downgrade

Was talking to a friend about this last night. He was really excited to see the footage and then went off on a personal interest. He wants the Star Citizen guys to go to EA and say "hey we have this space engine, why not let us make an XWing or Tie Fighter game". Hadn't thought about that, but now do I want it :3

Did someone at DICE kill your dog and you're super bitter about it?

The first Battlefront shots look like near CGI. The new screens look like near Battlefield 4.

Well that's a killer for me. I love ADS and not having it makes no sense to me. Of course it is a video game so realism isn't exactly high on the list, but as someone who plays a lot of PC FPS, ADS is too natural for me to not have.
Strange you say that, since ADS is more of a console FPS thing. Non ADS shooters are still pretty popular on PC (CS:GO, TF2, UT, etc) You still have lots of ADS shooters to choose from (hell, pretty much all shooters released on consoles have it now, even Halo, sadly) so I'm sure you'll be fine.

Personally I'm really happy about it, since ADS is my most hated mechanic in modern shooters. I'll still play in 3rd person most of the time, but it's nice to know I won't have to deal with that awful ADS filth when I go 1st person.

Salt doesn't mean what he's saying is automatically untrue. Plenty of people have the right to be a little bitter after the shitshow that was BF4.

Quite true, DICE can't let that happen again

However saying that, BF4 is being supported to a rediculous degree, some of the best post release support in an FPS in a long time (if it isn't DICE Swe doing it now).

So there's that as well.

yeah, damn my unjustified bitterness towards dice

You bought a $60 video game, yet you sound like a jaded lover who posts a tirade on their ex's every Facebook post.

Sure, DICE fucked up BF4, but trying to put down everything they're doing going forward seems just a wee bit extreme.

DICE LA's communication with the community is fantastic. Stockholm has always been the opposite.

When you say the Uncharted 4 E3 trailer was bullshit what do you mean exactly? Are you saying that it didn't deliver on the graphics because we were shown pre-alpha gameplay footage that didn't look exactly like the E3 trailer? This is from the in engine trailer of The Order 1886. This was the pre-alpha gameplay. And this was the final build. Infamous was pretty much the exact same way.

So why are calling bullshit on Uncharted 4 when we are no where near the final build? I wouldn't be surprised if that's why we aren't being shown Battlefront gameplay yet to be honest. Because then people would be complaining about downgrades that don't even exist, kinda like the claim you just made saying there's already been 1 downgrade.
