Dang, the XBO is my second-favorite console right now, right behind the Wii U. My tastes/interest seem to be in direct contrast of what's happening numbers-wise. :p Oh well.

I was thinking a little about...

MS said nearly 10m in November... and now they shipped more ~1.1m.

To ship 13.5m right they needed to ship at least 2.5m in December... not impossible but...

I guess the lifetime shipment not crossed 13m yet.

I'm thinking it's closer to 1.2/400K XOne/360 split. As much as everyone dogs the XOne for channel stuffing, the 360 was also pretty stuffed before the Holidays, as if MS were trying to wrap up production.

3:1 is foolish. If PS4 makes it 2:1 it is already hard enough, but absolutely doable with rest of the world outright ignoring the XboxOne.

Surface Pro 3 putting in work!

Damn fine tablet, best I've used to date. Success is well deserved.

Completely agree on the Surface Pro being a fantastic tablet. I've owned high end Androids and an iPad and they are toys compared to the Surface. Really looking forward to the Pro 4 built around Windows 10.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Any update on the Minecraft acquisition and where it stands/plans?

It's suppose to be part of the Xbox division right?

I just think a lot of it has to do with no real blockbuster titles for the system releasing - like someone said hopefully in 2016 they will have more big titles launch through the year at a consistent pace to keep sales steady.

Maybe we will see some of those plans at E3 since Phil said they want to focus more on 1st party studios. I Think they certainly need to expand and show that they have interest in building a great portfolio, will attract more buyers.

Microsoft reached 10m before December. They confirmed this December 3rd.

We can work out LTD Xbox One shipments to be around 12m (some market research companies estimate 12.4m) before at the end of 2014.

It's highly likely shipments have crossed 13 million. But not 13.5 million.

3:1 is more than I initially thought it was, whoops. Still I don't think 35+ million PS4s after the holidays is completely far-fetched, especially if a pricecut comes.

35 million isn't far fetched at all. It's completely realistic and I certainly think we'll see sell in exceed 36 million.
Xbox One should easily reach at least 18 million at that point though. Hence why I say it'll be 2:1 end of the year. Just.

Nah, Xbone should have a good holiday. It has Tomb Raider and Halo 5. Honestly it may outsell PS4 October - December

It will be interesting to see how Halo 5 will stack up against CoD and Battlefront this holiday season. We've never seen a three-way showdown of this caliber in the shooter genre that I can remember.

And nothing. You didn't mention US.

I dont think it mattered too much though? I was simply stating it is possible that it will outsell PS4 in some capacity. In the US I think that will happen. I was more saying the Xbones holiday sales should be more than substantial enough to prevent a 3:1 sales gap.

Apologies for any confusion

If the xbone is not succeeded by 2018 i'll be very surprised. They are going to do the same thing with the xbone that they did with the OG xbox.. Bury it after 4 years

Crazy. Even though the X1 doesn't even cost 100€ more than a 360 (talking about the blank console after calculating out bundle games/controllers - Xbox 360 = 150€, Xbox One = 220€) here in Germany.

They should think about quitting the 360 and force people to get a X1 because they can't really lower the prices anymore. And we are only in the 2nd year!

Where can you buy a new X1 for 220€ in Germany? I'm from Germany too.
It's around 300€ on Amazon.DE.
But yeah you can get a bundle for 300€ somewhere, too. But 220€ is bullshit.

Xbox One cumulative shipments are pretty decent for be honest. It's just that PS4 is almost a Wii, Xbox can't compete with that.

Worldwide? They're close to that now, already, aren't they? Are you saying the considerable gap in sales throughout the won't increase that ratio significantly?

in order for the ratio to continue increasing, the PS4 has to sell at more than a 2:1 pace, not just continue outselling it

Good thing Halo comes out first. People might have run out of money if it was coming out a month later as stacked as this year is.

Not really a heavy Apple user, but I absolutely agree on the android point. It's just in a whole different league.

I don't see why xbox usage is an issue for their financials. This would indicate more xbox live gold accounts (maybe) so financials there should be rising...but then again it might not be comparable

Oh I wasn't saying it is just that I feel this will be the quote they use for April NPD if they lose.

So you were actually serious with that 1st quote of yours !? I thought it was a joke, but now I'm not sure...

I'd really like to hear your argument if you were serious. Please don't say the sales of last november/december proved it's better to release all your first-party titles, because it was the price and all the incentives that caused that.

Of course i'm serious. It's way better than having a constant output of games during the whole year.

Because it is doing so terribul, rite?

It's doing better than the x360...

I only have an xbone btw. No it's not doing terrible, but it is nowhere doing what the successor to the 360 should be doing and they know it. Coupled with the power gap when compared to the ps4, they will not drag this gen out.

Given that their revenue is down by 24% as well, that's clearly not making up the difference. That bothers me as much as the sales numbers--which shouldn't be going down year-to-year when the Xone is $150 cheaper and has far more games to play--if not more. :/

I think the boldest depends on who you ask! Hasn't it been months since Xbox released an exclusive?

But it is doing that. The PS4 sold through 1.7 million in 2 months of this quarter alone, while the Xbox One shipped anywhere from 1 million to 1.2 million depending on 360 performance through the entire quarter. I'm sure that the holidays will stop the worldwide ratio from growing as much, but I doubt it will reverse it.

This. Anyone saying other wise is being hyperbolic and childish. Xbone and PS4 are both selling ridiculous numbers. PS4 is just selling bananas.
