Playstation TV Thread: Vita Who?

Does it? I've gone in circles on whether I should try this game the fanservicey stuff always turns me off but that's always in my conflict with love of anime styling and JRPG's.

Don't buy it, I fell into this trap. You're better off saving your money and getting a better game.

I would recommend Oreshika if you really want a game where you can mess around with family mechanics, and there are far better anime styled JRPGs out there.

When I connect my vita to my ps4, I often disconnect in under five minutes as it says the connection is bad (even though I'm connecting over if I and my speed is like 125/25). If I get the playstation TV, will I still suffer those same connection issues?

Do you have "use Wi-Fi in low power mode" active?

If you do, clear the checkmark.

So, this has probably already been asked and all, but is there really no way to delete a digital game without deleting your saved data? I mean without having to back it up on a PC or PS3, like you can't keep it on the memory card or move it to the internal memory or....something.

Without a PS+ subscription, no.

What are the best RPGs that work on PSTV? Got myself one a couple of weeks ago with Tales and Persona, anything else I should look out for? Wanted to try Ys but it seems like it doesn't work.

The option doesn't save power, it puts the network interface card into a low powered state. Meaning your wifi is worse.

Well yes, it does. Turn it off and your battery drains a lot faster, because the Wi-Fi chip is working harder.

But in the next Vita/PS TV firmware update, they should remove the option entirely for the PS TV, it makes no sense for a device that requires a permanent power connection to run.

It's not a "traditional" RPG more of an action game but you may like Freedom Wars.

If you're looking for something traditional though there's Sorcery Saga, FFX, and the Atelier series off the top of my head.

Finally, theres a wide variety of PSP RPG's.

Am i the only one who cannot seriously get over this thing's form factor!? ITS SMALLER THAN A DECK OF CARDS AND HAS NO FAN! And plays PS2 level(almost) games?!

I am just...constantly blindsided by the evolution of gaming technology.

I can put the thing literally anywhere and it doesn't even matter. For me, that's unheard of for a console. And i was one who thought Ouya was the smallest thing i'd ever seen when i first got mine.

Killzone looks and play surprisingly well on the Vita TV.

Anyone come up with good headphone options? Just bluetooth? No headphone jack on this thing is a bit of a bummer.

Hey all I asked this in another thread as I couldn't search on my phone but this looks like the place... anyway still haven't gotten an answer, is pstv the worst at picking up wifi in the history of electronics or am I doing something wrong?
I have one / zero bars on my pstv in my bedroom about 25 feet away from my router which every other device works throughout my house, even outside. Basically this thing is useless to me as is, I may return it but hope I am doing something wrong. maybe it has an optional something that boosts its power? antennae? anything?

Do you have the "Use Wi-Fi in Power Save Mode" setting checkmarked in the PSTV power save settings?

Because unchecking it should make the Wi-Fi connection on PSTV much better.

Thanks to both of you, I bet that's it. Excited to give another shot!

Edit - oh I had read that and thought it referred to Vita only... Sweet I'll try this

Right there with you I've had it months and it still shocks me how light it is when I pick it up and it runs on what 10 watts?

For future reference remember that the only thing this differs on is compatibility of games it can play. Virtually everything else the same

I have a Vita 1000 with firmware 3.18 but in the next month some games which caught my attention are coming, so I was considering a second Vita, and Vita TV should be the cheaper solution.

But I have a doubt : if I have a Vita TV with the latest firmware and my 1000 with 3.18, can I switch the memory cards or if i put inside TV the Vita 1000 mem.card the "update your system" message will pop-up ?
Of course I mean to use the same PSN account I already have for all my Sony systems

I sent mine in for repair last week. My game data became corrupted somehow and I couldn't launch any of my games. I tried to restart and I couldn't restart it.
Sony sent me a box to get it fixed.
This happen to anyone else?

I will probably get it back right in time to play Operation Abyss.

I believe when I put a memory card from my Vita on a higher firmware than my PSTV into said console I was prompted to update it before I could use it. I can't be 100% certain I'm right as this was a month ago so keep that in mind.

Correct, if you try to use one memory card between two systems on different firmwares then it will prompt the lower-firmware device to update.

Not only that but if you download a game on the higher firmware device and backup it up to PC and then try to transfer it to the lower-firmware device, you may run into problems too (afaik, vita games will transfer but will be subject to their own firmware restrictions, psp games will not transfer as I think they remember which firmware they were downloaded from, not sure about psOne games).

He asked what the best are and I gave an answer...there's not much else worth playing in my opinion. Still gotta crack my copy of FFX though.

Toukiden: Kiwami is also fantastic if you like Monster Hunter-style games. Plus it's cross-play with PS4, making it easier to team up with friends and such.

Thanks both of you for your answers, so basically you confirmed what I was thinking.

I will decide soon cause I want to buy Hot Line Miami (retail version coming in Japan), also I remember I read that Phantasy Star Nova plays better on Vita TV due to DS3, and a lot of interesting games are coming this summer (Cross Ange, Furai no Shiren 5, Tokyo Xanadu).

uhm... but what about a save file?
I can save on PC by using CMA and then transfer to Vita w/old firmware by OpenCMA or Vita FTP and viceversa
Is that also not possible?

You should be able to transfer saves, yes (but obviously, playing the games is still subject to the restrictions mentioned earier)

Are the PSOne Final Fantasy games actually compatible with the EU PSTV? One of the lists I found seems to say they are but when I try to download them it says they arent.

You can move saves with content manager can you not? So if you have a PC you can back them up without PS+.

For Vita games, you can transfer saved game data to a PC using Content Manager, but only if you also transfer the entire game along with it as a "package". You cannot just transfer the saved data alone.

Saved data for PSP games and PS1 games can be transferred independently of the game files.

I'd like to know that too. But I'm not sure I'd buy 50hz ff games. I think I'll buy the ps4 ff7 port and stream it.

I just bought a PS4 and it came with a free PSTV (as well as a copy of Minecraft and 50€ store credit), is that now the standard?

yes, but for example now I'm playing Freedom Wars so I could transfer save game from Vita to Vita TV

Best way is just to get PlayStation Plus and use the cloud. A few games support cloud saves independently of PS Plus though, such as Toukiden: Kiwami and Rogue Legacy.

So have Sony allowed us to use more than one account per PSTV yet?

If not, how much of a pain is it to switch accounts on every startup? I ask as my son is a pain to get off the main TV so I'm thinking he can finish he game off on his TV but the PSTV is set to my account...I begrudge buying several PSTVs, it's such a shame Sony are being so restrictive.

It's the same as the regular Vita, so nope. One account per system can be used at one time. If you want to switch, you have to do a system restore and input the Email addess/password for your other account. If you want to use any save game data from a memory card, you'll need one memory card for each account.
