I had absolutely no idea this was coming so soon.

Guess I just suddenly got plans for the next few days.

Hope being in Japan doesn't create me issues of buying the game, though my account is still connected to the Portuguese store.

Unlocked already? Quicker than I expected. Have fun guys, I won't be able to play jack-diddly until the weekend, maybe.

You can buy and play via GOG from anywhere in the world, so I recommend buying that if Steam gives issues.

can't believe I took a day off for this, never done that for anything else

15€ pricepoint in EU is pretty nice. Don't really have time to play it right now but I honestly just bought it to support XSEED. Love everything you guys are doing.

Bought it, I'm not gonna jump into playing it tonight though, I have 2 other games I'm in the middle of that I want to finish first.

Buying on my phone right now.

Will play a whole bunch this evening.

Edit: Oh wow.. The %15 off brings it down to 19.54 in CAD. I hate you low currency value..

Anyway, still glad to give my money to these guys (and girls too of course)!

Hm...I saw that it was up and got excited, bought it on mobile. Spent 5 mins wondering why I couldn't remotely install on my computer and realized I didn't leave it on at home. Guess I can't play it immediately when I get home. =(

Does this game support the DS4 on PC?

It should. Not "natively" (as in, you won't see PS-style button icons in-game or anything), but it should support it as an ordinary... DirectInput controller? XInput? I don't know what the DS4 counts as, but either way, the game supports pretty much any controller you can hook up via USB, so you should be totally fine.

Hmm with those system specs, the new Surface 3 could techinically run this correct? I am debating getting one of those tablets and if I could play Ys on it on the go would be neat.

This is a PC game from 2003 that wasn't even high-spec back in 2003, so you, too, should be fine. ;)

And you should also be fine! The game is available worldwide, including in Japan AFAIK, so there won't be any IP blocks or anything of the sort.

Finally, just brought my copy.

Interestingly enough, it comes with a "Material Collection" DLC, what's that?

Digital art book disc from 2004 that we were able to throw in as a bonus. Contains a bunch of PNGs and even PSDs of early development concept art, in-game character art, etc. It's good stuff!

Game bought!

Thanks Tom, for being around! I watched a bit of the stream last night but didn't really want to spoil too much.

Tom, do you think Falcom loaned the omake as a one-time addition to a release or is there any way to guarantee more digital pack-ins like this for upcoming titles?

Oooh, PSD's. Do they come with multiple layers?

I can confirm that everything went all right!
Game is downloading as we speak!

And this is a very nice surprise.

This was prooooobably a one-time thing, as these aren't just random files from Falcom, but previously-published files -- Falcom released them on disc as part of "Falcom Special Box 2004" back in... er... 2004. ;) So we were able to specifically ask Falcom if we could include the Ys VI Material Collection contents with the game, which they readily said yes to.

In other words, these were files that were already cleared for release to the public 11 years ago.

For other titles, we'd need to specifically ask Falcom to gather and send us their pre-release development materials, which would involve getting clearance to release those materials, finding them all across their many computers, making sure they're all in usable non-proprietary formats, etc. It's certainly possible we could pull that off, and I'm sure we'll try, but the extra work and legalities involved for games that haven't already seen art materials released in Japan means the likelihood is much lower.

Oooh, PSD's. Do they come with multiple layers?

I actually don't even have PhotoShop installed on my computer, so I'm not entirely sure. I think they do, though!

I can't buy it until I get home, but I'm definitely going to pick it up. It's a good enough game that I'm going to play through it again even though I've already beaten it twice.

Sorry if this has been asked already, but does the Steam code that comes with the Humble Bundle version include the bonus art?

All versions of the game come with the bonus art. We've attached it to the game on all three services as free DLC, to my knowledge.

Well I won't be able to play this til tomorrow...if ever! Got some stuff to do after work then I'm watching Avengers 2, maybe I can squeeze in an hour of play before heading out.
Still will be having a blast with this come the weekend ^o^

Slight correction: the Material Collection contains BMPs, not PNGs.

Not mistaken on the PSDs, though. ;)

As a newbie to the series, should I start here or with Oath in Felghana?

In all honestly, I personally think Oath in Felghana is a better game in terms of gameplay, music and level design -- but Ys VI is slightly easier (in non-Catastrophe mode, at any rate) and has the better story and characters. So it's up to you.

I think Oath in Felghana is a better introductory work to the series, personally, but they're both fine choices.

Bought, downloaded... might play a little tomorrow. I've only played this game once and don't remember all that much of it. So it should be pretty fresh.
