Glad to see so much Shanoa love here. OoE was the best DS Castlevania.

The best DS Castlevania, and the fourth best game in the series overall imo. Really underrated!

Anyways, I am so ready for more Castlevania, this will be the second game ever I kickstart (the first was the disappointing Double Fine Adventure).

You are probably right on them running the campaign, but I mean literally whose name will be on the created by field on the website, since Kickstarter isn't directly open to Japanese creators yet. Have my doubts that that part is 8-4.

But who knows.

Igarashi will probably just set up a US LLC like Inafune did.

Real talk: if there's a Kickstarter, one of the physical rewards has to include some variant of this as a retail box:

I'd back the shit out of that tier.

To me it is the best Castlevania overall. So damn good.

The fact that you could say that about any GBA or DS game AND still be wrong because Symphony of the Night exists really speaks volumes on the quality of this series.

Screw you Konami. Screw you oh so fucking hard.

Take the following with a MOUNTAIN of salt, but the following comes from /v/. I will quote it verbatim.

"It's real. Game is going to be called Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Kickstarter goes live May 11th. Main character is NotShanoa named Miriam. She has rune tattoos on her body. NotAlucard will be named Gebel.

Screen cap this."

The same user mentioned Michiru Yamane is on board as composer.

Aside from the name (barf, but whatever) EVERYTHING about this sounds fantastic. This better be real because now I'm hyped. Hopefully they got good artists and programmers working on this as well.

Best Castlevania games I've played (no particular order):

Classicvania: Super Castlevania 4, Rondo of Blood

Metroidvania: Symphony of the Night, Aria of Sorrow, Order of Ecclesia.

So what's happening tonight if the kickstarter isn't going up?

I think they're going to give a bigger tease for the game tonight, and that'll be it. Current ideas is the KickStarter is next week, and I can imagine the only way to create hype is to reveal the game.

I mean, Mighty No. 9 and Yooka-Laylee had footage and interviews about the games before they got crowdfunded, right? I hope that the reveal today wasn't the website, which I found on legit accident. :p

Saying Order of Ecclesia is the best is not wrong, though. Symphony of the Night is fantastic but I still put OoE a bit above it.
OoE art was a step up from the awful generic anime look DoS and PoR used.
Yup. I wonder whose genius idea was to change the characteristic art style from the series to generic anime look in PoR and DoS.

I'm just glad I picked up and played the DS Castlevania games + The GBA Double pack when I did. Brought me back to Castlevania after all those years since loving Castlevania 3.

It kinda sad it has come to this... Still. Lets see what it is.

Yeah, for me it's impossible to choose just one 2D Castlevania since SotN, they're all equally fantastic. It's kind of weird, but my personal favorite is Circle of the Moon for whatever reason.

I've never played OoE due to my reluctance to handhelds so I'll welcome a successor with open arms.

My list goes SotN and then OoE. What is your top 4?

They did it because the handheld userbase skews younger than the core CV fanbase, and because Ayano Kojima apparently works pretty slowly and couldn't be spread too thin.

Remove Aria (which is great, but not on the same level as those others), and I am right there with you! Castlevania 3 might need a mention too.

This is something I can agree with.

So younger userbases like shitty art styles nowadays? Because I remember liking pretty drawings as a kid.

IIRC the main reason for the change was because Kojima was too busy doing the artwork for Curse of Darkness to contribute to the handheld games being made at the time.

This is always hard and changes frequently, but here goes:

1. Super Castlevania 4
2. Symphony of the Night
3. Rondo of Blood
4. Order of Ecclesia
5. Draculas Curse
6. The Adventure Rebirth
7. Aria of Sorrow
8. Bloodlines
9. Dawn of Sorrow
10. Lords of Shadow

Is probably my top 10. Still lots of other games in the series that are also amazing, which really says it all about its quality.

Ah. Too bad they couldn't get Masaki Hirooka to work on Dawn of Sorrow and Portrait of Ruin then. Those two games are really solid btw, but man does the characters look bad.

I'm one of those weird people that liked Lament of Innocence and Curse of Darkness, but I doubt IGA would say he knows what the fans want and then make a 3d game in the style of those. And I really wouldn't expect anything like Lords of Shadow with Kickstarter money.

Edit: Where's the Whip Sword!? Sadness.

I'm so excited! OoE is one f my favorite Castlevania games! It introduced some really cool mechanics and ideas that I was so sad would never be followed up on. Can't wait to see what this new project looks like.

I was given the name Naberius the Nameless.

Is this some kind of game as promotion? I don't follow the point of voting..
