It's just ridiculous to base the idea of cross gen on the existence of icons. There are also icons for Android, Instagram, Twitter, Vine, and more. OMG BETHESDA WILL RELEASE THE GAME ON INSTAGRAM.

Its not just that. There is also Bethesda's E3 listings and Kotakus original report said they heard it was cross gen.

That doesn't mean it is, and hey it could 100% be current gen only, but there is some evidence to make people think its possible

Just highlighted my last pic on the last page because I think we're placing too much emphasis on the existence of some icons in CSS in the OP. If you want the counter argument, around like 4900 is the classes for "big-lead-in-preorder-platforms" which only has classes for .icon-ps4, .icon-xbox-one, and .icon-pc

What's missing? no .icon-ps3, .icon-xbox-360, or .icon-mac... Take it for what it's worth, who knows. Point being I don't think we should freak out about the existence of some .icon css.

No way it's crossgen. Even the previous Bethesda games were crippled by the old consoles. It would be a crime to do it again.

I remember a Reddit post recently actually on a Fallout board where a go who works at Gamestop (or somewhere similar) said that he noticed 3 listings: Something called The Institute (obviously Fallout 4), Dishonored: Definitive Edition (before we found it through the trademark) and a Fallout: Anthology collection.

Yeah, Fallout 3 and New Vegas are pretty much just like the Elder Scrolls. The older games are much different.

It depends on the game but yeah, there would definitely have to be cut backs. As far as this game is concerned? It's way too early to tell because they shown off the game yet. But, for example a game like Infamous/Order? It would be purely cosmetic. A game like Witcher would be more significant like draw distance/AI on screen at one time/less foliage/props.

There's this fear that it's always last gen that holds back current gen, a developer has to always cut ideas from their vision because they know it has to work on the last gen... when there also developers on the other side that will push current gen and throw that game to a port studio and let them do a port and pay it no mind.

That's a fair point, my fear is that it would be more like The Witcher example in that the game world itself and the ability to interact will be limited if crossgen is confirmed.

I would prefer the lesser of two evils being that they'd go all out on a current Gen version and be upfront that the version they port for 360/ps3 will be down scaled and missing features, rather than cutting those features entirely from current gen just because it couldn't be done on last gen.

Cross-gen would be dumb from a business standpoint, since previous cross-gen games saw the old-gen versions completely crater. It'll be a total waste of money. I would be entirely unsurprised if Rise of the Tomb Raider and Persona 5 would be the last major cross-gen games.

This thread has reminded me I really want to get back into NV.

I was lttp and got a ways in then stopped. Bought on PC a year or so ago and the graphics killed my enthusiasm.

I tried to mod it but ended up with desktop crashes and haven't had the energy to give it another go.

At this point I REALLY need a good enb to get me through it but I am not sure I want to waste the time again only to get another mess.

We're getting a new XCOM, a new Battlefront and a new Fallout all in the same year. This might end up being best year in gaming since 2010.

Fallout will probably be 2016. Seems too late for a 2015 release when you consider how long the typical announcement-to-release window is for games that are this massive, took this much time to make, and can gather this much hype. It's marketing. They want to maximise attention. Skyrim was a 1 year wait, so there's no reason for this to not be.
