It's playable, but don't expect to pull fancy combos or 360s reliably.

I feel keyboard works better than the standard console controllers, with the exception of 360 moves.

Mike recently added more leniency to 360 input specifically for keyboard. As in Beowulf patch recently.

Also, they are super easy if use a hitbox like keyboard setting for directions. (a = L d =R s = D space = U

Yeah, that did seem to improve it. It was way too inconsistent before that, to the point where they weren't even viable.

I still think 360 moves are inherently pretty shitty inputs though.

I got pretty decent at doing 360s on keyboard, but I'm rarely in a position where I need to do it. That, and I use a gamepad 99% of the time. :p

Oh hey, I just booted up the Beta and the patch notes says there are tutorials on Combo Stages, IPS, and Drama now (separate from the Burst tutorial).

Oh snap, this is even getting into burst baits.

I don't know if this is a me/focus problem, or because I don't play Parasoul, but I kinda wish I could freestyle this combo for the Drama tutorial. I've done a few already, but I can't seem to do the one I'm supposed to do for some reason. (It's definitely a "me" problem; I started over and had trouble doing the ground chain. :p Guess I'm having an off day.)

My local scene had this up this week. I haven't played in over a year, but I decided to play a few. Even though I was handicapped by having a ball top on someone else's stick, I wrecked a lot of face. It took two matches to get my muscle memory to do my Painwheel bnb fluidly, and a third for Parasoul.

SO GOOD.

I got folks QQing about Painwheel, and I was pretty damn amused. I still love this game, I just have so much else going on. Plus MikeZ still has me bitter for nerfing Peacock's item drop assist. >:-( Had to change teams because of that.

Maybe one day we will see Brain Drain...

Next event is going to be a 16 man bracket composed of the top placers in the previous event.

Thanks for these.

I realized when watching that I'm pretty sure I went up against one of the guys in that top 8 a few times. Just in quick match (and lost extremely quickly).

Even though it was mostly stuff I knew I actually learned some things about the cast in the second part of the show. The whole thing was super detailed which I enjoyed, but it did feel like a bit too much at some points heh. : x

As passionate as he is about his work and the amount of depth there is to dig up in SG, its simply way too much detail for that format. If Mike Z was able to do so, he could probably go 30-45 minutes per character. And thats not even talking about general system changes from vanilla SG. Might be a good Idea to have a series of videos for this stuff anyway, though I doubt there's much time for him to do something like that. It still was interesting as all hell, I just couldn't process half of what was coming out of his head.

After getting my ass kicked last night by a extremely strong player, do you guys have any tips for getting better at the game? I'm only "okay" with combos (just easy bnbs that don't end in a reset at all), need to work on using assists better, but people who have mastered endless resets can kill me in what is basically one giant long combo. Are resets what I should be looking to incorporate/improve? For defending I suppose it's a matter of getting familiar with where the openings for each character pop up then reacting correctly (high/low/throw)?

I've been having a tough time finding players at my skill level online too. :( It's either obviously new/casual players or tournament level combo monsters. Just a fact of life if the community isn't all that big I guess.

does anyone know if the ps4/ps3 driver works with ps360+ circuit boards? I use a custom hotbox with a ps360+. Want to make sure i'm ready for sf4 and sg on ps4.

Yes, but you need to get the latest firmware.

We worked directly with them to make this happen, building up to the USF4 announcement.

Hey, Rav. You need to school these AAA developer fools on how to use the ps3 stick driver. This dualshock tethering thing sounds...unnecessary. I am glad they're at least using the driver though.

We're hoping we can get MKX to fix it in their next patch in time for Evo.

USF4 might be a harder sell, but I'll see what we can do.

Summer Jam 9, TFC and NEC 16 are all picking up on Skullgirls, too.

Combo Breaker done good.

If Summer Jam 9 (Aug 28 in Pennsylvania) gets 64+ entrants for SG, they'll add $500 to the prize pot, AND Big E Gaming will add $500, so a total of $1000.

SG was also added to The Fall Classic (Sept 11-13th in North Carolina). No mention of pot bonus stuff AFAIK.

SG was alllllso added to North East Championships 16 (NEC XVI - Dec 6-8, again in Pennsylvania) with a $500 pot bonus.

Rav, I'd be interested to hear your take on the usfiv port glitchfest. Has lab zero had similar difficulties porting sg to the ps4?

I don't think we have - most of our difficulties stem from a lack of resources, not an inability to handle the system. We also weren't able to get the contractors that handled the PC port back, so the new guys had to learn the SG code from scratch, too.

Multiplayer is always a bear, though, and getting lobbies from PC to PS4 has been the most difficult aspect of the port for us. There is the occasional hiccup we need to iron out, but the graphics and performance stuff was pretty smooth, I'd say.
