The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt PS4 Update 1.04 is out!

Seems like every patch makes the game worse. Aside from the camera rotation being smoothed out I'm not sure anything else has improved.

Well, the XP glitch has supposedly been fixed too. But yeah, it does seem like for every thing they fix they break something else.

Funnily enough people forget that this patch was not meant to improve the performance but to fix certain quest and gameplay bugs.

They said they are looking into those issues which should mean a stand alone patch for the PS4 in the upcoming future.

That would be fine if the performance wasn't getting worse with each patch.

It shouldn't get worse tho.

Played for about 3 hours tonight (pc patch 1.05) and I could finally read about 90% of the text that was awesome, really wish I could make it even better but at least I can read most of it now.

Can't say anything about the preference because I never had problems with it (1080p/60/ultra).

Jeez how do you even mess up main menu music? It's stuttering like crazy since the patch.

I'm actually pretty angry with CDPR right now, or at least really disappointed. I feel like they're ruining what should have been the best gaming experience of the year (possibly one of the best ever) with their clearly rushed release and shoddy testing & QA work. Yeah, entitled gamer and all that... But I did pay ~72 USD (that's what a new game costs in Sweden) for this game, and I do expect it to function properly. As it is right now, I can't fully enjoy this experience, and that really sucks because I know how great it is underneath the jank and brokenness. I don't want to get angry when playing this game, I want to love every minute of it. So I'm thinking I should maybe just not play it for a while. Let them get a few more patches out first.

That is what I am doing. I am just trying to play something else until another patch or two releases.

So the stuttering during cutscenes is because of the patch then? I started it up for the first time and that opening cutscene was pretty crazy with the stuttering.

Well, no, that's been happening all along. What's new is that the damn main menu music stutters.

No, you're right. The game should perform reasonably at launch. It's an amazing game which gets spoiled by things that shouldn't be there. Looks like people will have to wait and hope they'll fix it.

Yeah I also noticed that. Also, this game makes my ps4 work it's ass off. Did cd projekt fuck up the optimization or something?

I don't think it's very optimized at all. I mean, what they've done is very impressive in so many ways, but it's clear that they haven't done everything they could have to get everything out of each platform. A game shouldn't go from locked 30 fps to 20 fps just because a few torches appear on screen. That just screams unoptimized multi-platform code. Which I can understand in a way, because this is the first time they've ever released a game on more than one platform at once (and they've never made a PS game before), in addition to this being by far the largest game they've ever made. But still, this game feels rushed, released before it should have been. They delayed it once, guess they felt they couldn't delay it again, so they took the "good enough, let's fix it later" approach.

This makes me nervous for fallout 4 for some reason. WELP, THIS SUCKS A FAT ONE GUYS.

Is the performance supposed to be better on the xbox one? The frame rate on the ps4 is starting to kill me
Yes. But the resolution is 900p

I'm really thinking of trading my ps4 version in for an xb1 copy now. Waited for this patch and it's still performing bad in novigrad and the bog

It seems like entire textures like just dropping from the game now. Half of Novigrad just vanished on me and took a good 20 seconds to come back.

Annnnd to top it off I get a fatal error as I type it.

EDIT: Wtf?! After fatal error game carried on as usual?!

Number one reason I'm gaming on the Xbox one for this game. Performance more than makes up for minor screen blur. Game is still very beautiful.

Since 1.04 i've seen :

-Part of NPC bodies that were fully loaded (missing legs and/or torso )
-Several furnitures that didn't load at all ( resulting in many candles floating in mid-air )
-Several late textures loads ( horrible reminder of the old unreal engine days )

But the game is smoother in many areas (towns) , however outside of the towns you can see where they gained some power , the lightning is now dull to anything that is outside a 15 metter radius around geralt , and the flames look quite dull ?? ( less impressive ) at night.
The night framerate in town didn't bother me before ( nor the swamps areas ) but those optimisations are now breaking the visual immersion for me. i DO NO WANT.

hopefully most things are ironed out once i buy witcher 3 whichever month of the year it will be.

ah, one of the perks of buying a game late. cheaper, and has all the patches necessary for a better experience.

then again i could just wait for the inevitable goty version which might contain the 40-dollar expansion packs. hmmm...decisions.

I really feel for you that are having huge issues with performance. I've been lucky so far. Hopefully CDPR gets it patched up for everyone. Now that the XP glitch is fixed the game runs better for me and is more polished than pretty much any last gen open world game.

Man, I just did the Tower of Mice quest line and it ran like a slide show in there. Combined with the fact the area takes place in a bog, it was night and the game decided it would be rad to have a big storm roll in. Couple that with the fact I had to use a object that illuminated the dark rooms in a eerie color, the frame rate tanked. Took me right out of what should have been a very cool quest.

Only time Novigrad has problems is when you either fast travel to the city or try to speed run through the city. Yeah audio takes awhile to load but whatever.

My apologies if this has been answered already, but have they revealed their plans for expansions or larger DLC? While I'm excited for additional content, I'm concerned this could end up like Fallout 3.

Fallout 3 became much worse performance wise after the DLC, especially on PS3. The game of the year version was atrocious.

I like the game, but the glitches and poor frame rate certainly are frustrating. Each patch fixes some problems while creating new ones. Obviously the game will always have some issues, but hopefully they will be minor and the end product will be much better than it is now.

all that trouble for a few fps in specific areas? someone else in one of the previous threads did this too and they immediately regretted it.

They've announced 2 larger dlcs/expansions that are supposed to provide 10 and 20 hours of content. The first adds content to oxenfurt and I assume unlocks the second island that we can't access. The second adds a new area.

I'm wondering if with these large dlc plans if they plan on making an enhanced edition like the first two.

BIGTIME TV MOGUL #2
What are people playing this game on that they can't read the text? Are the TVs too big or too small? I think the text and HUD are a little too big already.

I find performance in Novigrad to be nauseating still. Oy.

Novigrad is just awful in my game. Just running somewhere in the city will result in smeared unloaded textures on walls and the ground, people walking around with invisible body parts, and up to 10 seconds of waiting for NPCs to become interactive at all. Is this universal or is my replaced HDD slowing things down? It's so bad at times I have a hard time believing it would have passed QA like that.

Whatever they changed in 1.04 for lighting has made the game run noticeable worse. Mostly talking about lighting from fires (pits, candles, etc) Overall, as a whole the game runs better, but areas that feature a few of those things bog down,

I think it has to be a hard drive issue. I have a SSHD in my console and barely see any pop in outside of a couple NPCs and have never seen any unloaded textures.

Yeah, same here (I've finished the game) and it sucks that there's apparently so much variation in what people are experiencing.

Novigrad is just awful in my game.

Even my experience in Novigrad is in direct contrast to some of the last few posts. Runs smoother than ever for me after patch with no strange pop-in. I really hope CDPR can get this sorted for those with problems.

What?? Lucky?? I dont know what drug you are on but it is imposible that your game runs at a higher framerate than everyone else
