Ryu on the other hand... I can understand why he is exciting, but I cant get over how non-nintendo he is. I mean at the end of the day whatever more chars is more chars, its just Ryu is such a weird direction when there are still a handful of fun and neat nintendo chars to throw out.

None of my friends have a wii u but they all own smash on their 3DS's and aren't the type to come over *just* to play the console version all at once. It sucks since SSB3DS is sorta 'Smash-lite', but it's the version that sold a ton and probably takes a slight priority when it comes to Smash's DLC life.

99% of the people clamoring for Roy probably never played his game and/or don't even care about FE and are going entirely off Melee nostalgia.

Which is fine and all, but if you get anal over representation and being 'fair' it's really awkward FE has 5 reps over Kirby, DK and Metriod.

I'm a tournament player. Most tournaments aren't even bothering with the 3DS version anymore, which is what I was going with. I don't keep up with sales numbers.

Yep. After all, we fondly remember all those great Konami games for Nintendo after Snake appeared in Brawl.

Nope everyone wants to have one of their characters in smash BELIEVE me... but on the flips side they could give a fuck about supporting Nintendo. We got snake in brawl.... where is that Metal Gear game for Nintendo console (crappy 3ds port doesn't count)I am talking home console.

Konami released like 20+ games on Wii after Brawl was out, and Silent Hill: Shattered Memories is one of my favorite games on Wii.

I agree they should have just added Chrom if they were going to add Roy and give him a new mechanic to set him apart.

I do know what you mean. I remember I think Sakurai saying that he wanted less 3rd party characters cause it kind of takes away from the charm of Smash to have too many of them.

However one thing that I can say is that at the very least Mega Man and Ryu both have a lot of history with Nintendo. Mega Man got his start and big break on the NES, with 6 titles that are considered classics on the NES.

Street Fighter II is basically the game that reinvented the fighting game as we know it, and definitely put Street Fighter on the map, and I believe it's most popular iteration was on the SNES. I believe Ryu has more connection and history to Nintendo than, say, Pac Man.

I'm not saying the 3DS version is bad, I'm just sad that Dreamland 64 is 3DS exclusive. Same with Smash Run. The amount of money I would pay to get Smash Run on the Wii U version...it ain't even funny.

Lucas and Mewtwo have trophies in the base game(s).
If they wanted to make Inkling a DLC character, having her as trophy wouldn't matter. But I doubt they'll make Inkling DLC.

It goes onto October and it's not to determine a winner. They're using it to see demand and see who could work well. It won't be decided by "who gets the most votes", it's decided by "Oh, this character seems popular and we can get it to work. Let's do it."
