Fallout Shelter: Phone game from Bethesda studios where you are the Overseer, out now

This is definitely more involved than something like tiny tower and there are no timers to build rooms.

I'm not exactly sure what to do though. I had a guy exploring the wastelands who had killed a few molerats without dying so I'm calling him back to give him a gun I got in a lunch box and some clothes.

I have one too and knocked up two dwellers now.

I made all the women pregnant, cycling them through quickly with one guy who had high charisma. Seems like a nice little time waster, and more involved than tiny tower type game.

That's bound to create problems lol.

Does that mean the stats of all those babies are going to be mostly distributed towards charisma?

Base-building Q: Tutorial said you can connect "2-3" same-type rooms to make them bigger? Can you only connect them side-to-side? Which ones can you connect 3 of, of the starting rooms? Wondering if I should try connecting a third room to my living quarters or just elevator up.

I do know it doesn't work vertically. Already tried that myself.

This actually interests me quite a bit

If you had told me a month ago I would be excited for a Fallout mobile game I would have laughed at you

Hope it comes to Android soon though. Tablets android, phones ios. Going to be hard to play on a tiny screen I bet

Sorry if this has already been mentioned in the thread....anything from this game actually import into Fallout 4? Rewards etc? Or is it purely standalone with no connection to Fallout 4?

I've downloaded it, but not given it a crack yet.

As an aside, the Android port begging is way out of hand. Android is to mobile gaming as the Wii U is to console gaming. That title you want probably ain't happening and if you care about mobile gaming, move over to iOS.

If you swapped 'Android' for 'Wii U' and 'Fallout Shelter' for 'Fallout 4', the thread would be a graveyard. Except it wouldn't because Wii U owners have accepted their fate.

Except for the fact nearly all the big games eventually make their way to android.

Well, if there is anyone who could be considered an expert on failed gaming platforms.......... ;)

Seriously though, I think everyone has vented for a bit. I'd like to hear more impressions about the game.

I have played for a couple of hours. It's an enjoyable game. It's some kind of mix between the sims and some old maxis game.

The performance is fine, but that was expected given that I am playing it in an Ipad Air 2. Maybe I'll try it later in my old Ipad 2 just to see what happens.

Some do, some don't. Either way when it's obvious that a current announcement pertains to iOS and only iOS, Android chatter should stop.

Precisely ;)

That said Android is by no means a failure, it's just that iOS is totally dominant in mobile gaming.

The diner is the only one I've set three together for. Those join up instantly and become a restaurant.

How do you recruit dwellers?

I haven't tried, but my guess is send someone with a lot of charisma either via their own stats or clothing found in a lunch box. I sent a guy out with high intelligence and perception and his activity log talked about patching up a wounded guy and that the guy then left. I bet if my guy had charisma, the stranger might have joined up or been directed to my shelter.

"eventually" being the key word. I really do like Androids, and they're serviceable when it comes to mobile games, but I recently had to make the switch to iPhone because it's always the lead platform when it comes to mobile games.

Android is really not that bad when it comes to getting the same games as iOS these days. You're speaking as if it's a wasteland. It's not a very apt analogy to compare it to the Wii U.

I can add the living quarters, the power generator, and the water treatment to that list. I'm pretty sure all the ones you can place except the elevator can have three connected. Don't forget to level up the rooms too! I have a level 3, 3-room living quarters (barracks) and it houses 40 dwellers. Also, it looks a bit snazzier.

Downloaded it on my iPad, hopefully the game data will be able to sync between my android phone and the pad in the future. But Vault 114 here we go!

Android phone and iPad is the way to go.

It's very charming to look at. I'm not normally in to this style of game but the license and the look might keep me playing a while.

I'm not sure how I can tell who is suited to which room yet but it seemed cool with where I placed people so that's no biggie.

PC vs Linux then. Doesn't really matter. Fact is that a lot of games are iOS exclusive or lead on iOS and Android users really ought to be used to that by now. Both this thread and the OT are just fucking littered with 'Android?!'. It wouldn't stand for any other platforms and it shouldn't stand here either.

Thanks for verifying the water treatment -- mine didn't merge into 3, but it's because 2 were level 2 (upgraded) and the third one wasn't, so gotta watch out for that.

So far I haven't seen any room that can't merge into 3.

One downside is that unless you have way too many rows of elevators, you can't fill your base with 3-sized rooms. So personally I'm using two vertical rows of elevtators and using the vertical row that can only accept 2-sized rooms for ones that aren't manned (like the storage rooms).

That might be one of the worst gaming comparisons I've read in a long time.

Congrats on not understanding the mobile market at all.

If you want me to tell you:
Click on the dweller, then the stat bars. It'll show the seven stats with numbers. Find the highest number(s). Then, either click on each individual room or go to build room and cycle through the list. Each room will have one letter that corresponds with the skills.

Off the top of my head:
Power: (S) Strength
Diner: (A) Agility
Medi + Science: (I) Intelligence
Supply: (E) Endeavor????
Water Treatment: (P) Perceptiveness
Living Quarters (kinda): (C) Charisma
???: (L) Luck

That's all I have unlocked at this point. Basically, just put them in the room that corresponds with their highest skill level. If they're tied, try both rooms out.

No prob, I had the same problem with different levels! As far as the organization goes, good for you for thinking it through. I haven't worried about filling up the space horizontally yet. I just have one column of elevators with three-fors on each side.

By what definition is that port begging?; the Android version is confirmed. It wasn't clarified in the beginning, hence the confusion and questions. There is no need to port beg, when the port exists. Unless there is an exclusivity deal, no major mobile game isn't going to be released on Android.

I understood the mobile market before most of this site even acknowledged its existence. That's why I'm on iOS.

Ah cheers dude. I'd missed the room side stuff!

Now they're still going to die, but at least they'll die in the best possible room.

All I know is that every iOS only game thread is full of people whinging that Android got left behind. Again.

Not sure what your referencing, but it shouldn't be an issue in this thread, since an Android version is confirmed. Problem solved.
