Xbox One Elite Controller Vidoc

So many people complaining about the price.
You get what you pay for.

I still havent heard any definitive explanation on the sensitivity options the controller has. Does that setting affect tension of the sticks at all?

Interesting I thought I heard them say they are working with partners to offer even more thumbstick parts. I would like ones a bit shorter like the 360 sticks if possible.

Why not? It's not like MS has a reputation for manufacturing like Hori or new MadCatz. Even if it has premium materials, they're gonna have to prove themselves first before we all just resign ourselves to the premium pricing.

Looks fantastic.

Really wish I could get used to the funky stick placement of the Xbox controllers, because I'd be immediately jumping on this shit, even just for PC use.
Sadly I'm just way too accustomed to the Dualshock layout. I'm here praying that this controller might be popular enough to incite Sony into doing their own "Elite DS4" style thing.

Like a bunch of other people have already said, for this type of product it is a reasonable asking price. It is honestly one of the bigger announcements out of E3 for me. Pre-ordered one through Amazon today. I'm excited to play all types of games with it but especially Halo, Gears, and Destiny.

Also in the video he does mention working with partners and different shapes. Cant wait to see some crazy accessories for this.

I need to hold it in my hands first. I am definately interested though.

I want to see a teardown, so I can compare components to see if this "elite controller" is worth its retail price.

The plastics in the current build really bother me.

Every time I rotate the sticks, they click at the east and south corners. I think I destroyed them by playing TitanFall as I constantly click on them as a habit.

Eh, I've had some recent mice tearing apart due to some questionable choice of materials.

Microsoft Mobile Mouse 3500: Scroll wheel gunked and stopped scrolling. Middle click hard to press. Side rubber grip peeled off.
Microsoft Mobile Mouse 4000: Scroll wheel lost its rubber and tore up. Side rubber grip peeled off.

Xbox One Day One 2013 controller: Thumbsticks are clicking at weird places after completing a rotation.

Meanwhile, I still own an original Microsoft Wheel Optical Mouse for many years, and that has held up.

I'll say that Microsoft mice have yet to exhibit a double click syndrome that I experience with Logitech mice.

Will be on my black Friday list. I wonder how fighters play with it. Been meaning to get a fight stick but may get this instead.

This controller looks so cool, but Sony showed off the games I want to play. Hopefully they were paying attention...

I doubt the cost of buying the controller this year will impact your funds 2-3 years from now when you will be able to buy and play most of those games. You have plenty of time to save up. Have your cake and eat too.

The fuck? MS and Sony make the most battle tested controllers out there. Any input device MadCatz or Hori puts out there on the same price range cannot compete.

Not true, MS have been making the best controllers since Xbox. Type S, X360 and X1. Top tier controllers, best for racing and FPS, In fact, I'd argue their controller has been a template for other manufacturers for years.

Oh, not doubting the designs (they're great), just the build quality. Of course, it seems that is a very YMMV kind of thing.

EDIT: And just to clarify, I'm speaking solely about their console controllers. I have very little experience with their PC peripherals, save the serial-port Sidewinder controller (whose d-pad was even better than the heralded Sega Saturn's).

I'm definitely picking one up, just waiting for a drop. I already have 2 XB1 controllers, can't justify $150 for another.

They also made the 360 controllers with dpads that almost never worked properly, had analog sticks that routinely drifted, and don't get me started on the grinding from the Xbox One sticks and the creaking sounds from the entire controller after mere days of use. I can see why people would be wary of them. They design nice stuff, but the build quality and quality control leaves a lot to be desired.

Dunno about all that, but for any consumer products quality will go up as product matures.

My X1 build quality is great (white SO bundle).

Up to the DS3 I agree with you. I had DS3's last 6 years of heavy use last gen. The DS4 is awful in the build quality department though.

As for Microsoft, their keyboards and mice have a great reputation, but 360 controllers didn't wear well. My day one XB1 controller is in very good shape though!

My goodness... this control is way beyond what I expected... it almost makes me want to buy an X1 just to use it.... that wrong!? haha, so cool.

Once I saw that this has steel parts in it I was sold. Been looking for a heavier/sturdier controller that won't break down easily. This seems to be worth the price

Did they add a share button like on PlayStation? Can't watch right now.

That's probably the only reason I'd buy one, tbh.

yes share button on a competitive controller this makes sense. some arcade sticks almost remove the pause buttons. worst first posts ive seen in awhile

Yeah, vidoc definitely sold me after initial doubts about the price. I mean when you think about it, at least for me, I'll be using this for thousands of hours so 150 won't seem too bad in the long run. Especially considering the stock Xbone controller has the creakiness/cheap feel after 7 months of hardcore use. But I'm one of those crazies that probably spent more than 150 on multiple XboxOG/360 controllers...

Although, a bit worrying that all the previews were 100% positive with no negatives at all. Sounds too good to be true tbh.

edit: that case is lovely

God that thing is sublime. They took basically the perfect controller, and made it better. So good.

Yep, It is a thing of beauty.... If I am SCUF I would not know how to respond (I have one).

My Elite is preordered and will hopefully be broken in in time for Halo 5.

I want one of these controllers mostly so I can use the paddles for gear shifting in forza.

Same for me. I've never gotten used to shifting with my index fingers on the shoulder buttons, and middle fingers on the triggers. Shifting with the buttons works, but doesn't feel right. These paddles seem ideal.

Shorter travel for quicker shooting in FPSes I guess?

I always wished I could remap the primary buttons in COD to the bumpers for that very reason.

After seeing this controller I went and checked out scuf. Try putting together a controller there and see what it costs.

That's debatable but their hardware division is definitely top notch, for a software company.

I'm having a hard time finding a worthy tablet-hybrid competitor to the Surface Pro 3.
If something happened to my Macbook Air today I would replace it with a Pro 3, no hesitation.

My only build quality complaint with the XBO pad are that one of them is a bit loose on the "seam" between two outer plastic components on the controller. It flexes and makes a slight creak when you apply a lot of pressure and you can sort of feel a slight gap between them that shouldn't be there. The other one I own (which came with the xbo) is fine.

Otherwise their stuff looks and feels pretty damn good actually. Small touches like the micro-USB, HDMI cable and power brick being aesthetically matched the console itself is the kind of attention to detail that you usually expect from something like an apple product. But it's kind of cool. Surface line is great as well.

man, those sticks, must have. Does this come with the USB receiver? 150 is not bad actually, a good plastic made gaming mouse is like 80-90.

Contrary to popular belief, the first post doesn't always have to be some thread derailing "witty" comment. It's an improved controller. A share button is what I would want in an improved controller and there is absolutely nothing wrong in asking about it.

So GTFO with your condescension.

What do you mean? Microsoft make some of the best mice and keyboards. Then theres the Xbox controllers which have been all of great build quality. Theres the surface which has excelent aesthetics and build quality. Microsoft makes some very high quality stuff.

I got to mess with one playing Halo MCC and one that was a demo version.

After coming back from e3 I wish I had the elite controller already. The build quality is fantastic. The controller has a little more weight to it.

I also got a gears of war dpad attachment they were giving out at e3.

I liked the controller announcement, then saw the price and was out, but now I'm back in. I would definitely pay more for a higher quality controller and those swappable pieces.

I thought the video was super cheesy and cringeworthy though. All those "ooo it helps when I snipe" and "its good for pros and esports" talk is a big turn off for me. I see who it's trying to appeal though. Made it feel cheap and silly. I would have preferred it stress high quality and different functionality outside of the FPS dudebro pitch.

That sounds cool can you post a pic of the gears dpad attachment?
