Batman: Arkham Knight - Review Thread

There are less than City had but are said to be harder to get. so more of a challenge which is good they were mostly easy to get.

Cool. And for the first time in a long time, i media blacked out this game. Sure I saw a trailer or 2, but no gameplay demos of any kind. Should be a lot more fun this way.

Gamespot:

Forced use of the Batmobile puts a damper on fun and freedom

That was exactly what I was afraid off.

This is gonna be just like Bayonetta's motorcycle chapter forced and boring isn't it?

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?
Suspected the batmobile wouldn't quite be the most natural fit.

The forced repetitious battles sound...not so great, especially if the Gamespot review is accurate in the vehicle combat coming in repeatedly.

Other than that, hopefully it gets evened out by the freeflow.

I was going to hold off a while but I got this game free with my graphics card so I guess I'll be jumping in earlier than I thought. The issues brought up in the reviews seem pretty inline with what I've been hearing from impressions on podcasts and what not. I personally prefered City over Asylum so outside of the lackluster batmobile segments, I think I'll be ok with this one.

I understand Kevin VanOrd's complaints, fortunately I don't believe I'll share them, still buying, 7 is a good score -- maybe coming off Witcher 3 hurt this game, but I think he's more transparent to have that influence this review.

Thanks for posting our review. Just for what it's worth, it's the easiest 10 I've ever given.

Sublime game.

Cool. I rarely (never) preorder games...but Asylum and City were two of my favorites from last gen so what the hell. As long as it's as good as those I'll be happy.

Perhaps its only repetitive if you don't like the vehicle combat? I see no reason why it would be heavily weighted to one encounter style when City and Asylum both had a great balance between stealth and freeflow.

Great scores, so I'll jump.

I never finished Arkham City, allthough I liked it. It was one of those games the open world in my opinion worked against it. Asylum is one of my favourite games ever because it presents such a great adventure in a tight but believable location. It has awesome pacing, but lots to do on the side as well. In City I just, I don't know. Got sidetracked all the time, and lost the motivation to funnel trough the story because of it. It was the main reason I skipped Origins.

So I'm a bit wary about this one. I would give everything for a Asylum-esque tight adventure. But I can't skip on a seeminly awesome sequel on one of my fav games...

I'm not sure what "forced" means. Clearly they built missions and riddler challenges around the mobile. Not sure why that's a bad thing? I never expected getting 100% completion without playing with Bat tank

Either way I'm hyped as fuck. Great scores.

I hope this is the year where we finally decide, as a collective human race, that the Batmobile was never good.

This. Also, mentions of the story being the weakest of all the Arkham games and the dialog being weak...Origins will remain king I guess.

I have this pre ordered already though so I will enjoy myself.

I was going to replay some of the Arkham games before Tuesday -- Maybe I should just play Origins -- the writing is probably the best out of the three, I only have time for one -- most of my days before then will be taken up by Jury Duty, what do you guys think? Which one of the three is worth a replay?

Some hate on the story, others say it's exciting and fist pumping. Guess it's just gonna depend on your personal preference, go figure.

Delighted to hear from Digital Foundry that the game's launching in excellent condition, it's a shame it's become something to commend but fair fucks to WB and Rocksteady for giving it more time in the incubator and shipping it in a fit state.

I think that undermines GameSpot's review a bit; how they can give Unity a 7 in the sorry state that launched in, and then give this a 7 as well.... seems a bit harsh, no?

And I'm surprised Kevin's review didn't go into more detail about just how fucking incredible the game looks visually, really quite astounding.

I love how some people hate and lack confidence in what Polygon reports, but then are perfectly fine to accept their findings in a review

Need to beat Witcher 3 asap then turn to this...I wasn't going to but the reviews have just pushed me to purchase this

At least wait and play it for yourself before making that judgement, lol.

I loved the first 3 games, but I have no interest at all in this one.

And after the new look, that let's this seem like a reboot, the batmobil is the biggest reason for this.

And funny enough, the batmobil seems to be a con in a lot of reviews.

That Batmobile stuff looked shit from the very start, it's in no way, shape or form surprising that it's the weakest aspect of the game. I've not played the previous Batman games so the gameplay will feel fresh to me, can't wait to get it next week.

People only hate Polygon reviews when it's a low scoring Sony exclusive. They never lived down TLoU lol.

Better than I expected (though I thought the plot would be dissapointed now Paul Dini isn't involved). Better finish Witcher 3 then

The concept seemed kind of poor initially but the implementation is amazing. The act of driving the batmobile through the city feels really REALLY good. The camera work, motion blur, and control are all very satisfying. It could have felt awful but it doesn't.

What reviews says about the PS4's version visuals? I hope it's close enough to the PC version from E3 (that they played during the PS4 party), anyone knows?
