Well that could be true, I guess I was just looking at a potential positive. I didn't freak out when he was announced, because I thought he could bring something really cool to the role. It sounds like that's not the case, but again I have a hard time pinning that all on him alone.

I think it was evident from the "Keptchawaitinghuh?" in Ground Zeroes something was off about the takes that they were using for the dialogue. That would be a director choice to either have him read it that fast, or to use that take.

You'll have to refresh my memory because I don't really recall his performance sticking out one way or the other. If you mean it was lackluster, then I would say yeah, probably applies the same way.

Also people who keep repeating the whole Big Boss always had a different voice, stop playing dumb. Most Big Boss incarnations are considered and often called Snake (MGSV Included), Hayter voiced him in three fucking games already. Also the Japanese voice actor did not change, there is nothing to suggest your bullshit claims are true. All signs point to Kojima's hard-on for Hollywood being the reason behind this.

It's fine if you don't like Hayter's VA but stop trying to justify or give reason to Kojima fucking over Hayter. Hayter was a long term series institution, also a huge advocate and fan of the series. To remove him and do so without even informing him is downright pathetic and incredibly disrespectful.

I'm still getting the game and will buy anything that Kojima puts out but I won't defend him over this or any other bullshit move he pulls.

He should be in as Solid Snake.

I get the idea that this game takes place during the early period of les enfantes teribles, yet it may span years? If Snake does make an appearance, he should be voiced by Hayter.

But he won't be. And thats a shame.

The only thing is he should have never been BB. Couldn't get whats-his-face (Bauer?) for MGS3, but there should have been a different BB VA. But Hayter IS Solid Snake, fuck the haters.

Yeah. Kojima is brilliant, but it's a shame that he disregarded the tradition that a generation of gamers had become accustomed and attached to. Good with the bad, I guess.

Agree, but I'm waiting for a sale instead of first day buy. Kojima axed Hayter for no reason except probably butt hurt that Hayter criticized MGS4 ending. And his obsession with being accepted by hollywood/american media. Really upset me as someone who grew up with the series.

After years of being in the game, and Kojima practically giving this guy a career, I REALLY REALLY doubt he would tell Kojima to go fuck himself, regardless of being passed over for the role. Its highly unprofessional and extremely disrespectful.

Which is why this practically confirms hes in the game in one way or another. Hes part of the ruse.

That is the simple reason he snubbed Hayter, he own selfish self interest.
He has constantly been trying to be associate himself with Hollywood and TV people he has a hard on for.

I'm sorry. I'm so used to years of MGS marketing being giant attempts troll its audience that I can't believe anything. I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't in the game but at the same time wouldn't be shocked if he was.

I'm sure Konami will bring him back. Their Metal Gear Solid without Kojima is going to need to connect itself to some fan-following, and I doubt they'll try creating a new character out of the gate.

I could see a Metal Gear 1 and/or 2 remake being their first non-Kojima Metal Gear to ingratiate fans into the new direction of Metal Gear, and I could see David Hayter being cast to cling to some fan support. And I think that would be great.

I agree, it's fucked up.

MGSV with Hayter and good vocal direction (his normal voice lowered a few octaves) would have been good enough for me, and I think leaving a mainstay of the series out in the cold like that when he has been nothing but an advocate of Metal Gear is cruel. And a person who cannot speak convincing English deciding who would make for a better voice for Big Boss is quite ridiculous.

It was Hideo Kojima's attempt to cling on to some kind of Hollywood relevancy by getting a low B-tier / high C-tier actor to pretend like he gives a shit about the series. I'm not going to knock Kiefer's work but David Hayter earned to opportunity to at least be told he didn't have the roll, Christ.

I think the meltdowns are going to be really bad.

"But Hayter must be in it somewhere. Must play through the game within 1 1/2 hours, using no rations and without dying to get it. Yeah, that's it!!!111"

Hopefully Konami will be greedy enough to create Hayter-Voice DLC 6 months later. Maybe even release "Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Hayter" edition 2 years later.
