Warner Brothers suspends [new] purchases for PC version of Batman Arkham Knight

I'm probably reading into this, but it sounds like this is going to go above and beyond a typical update/patch. Maybe even a version by Rocksteady themselves.

Maybe something like that FF MMO?

The game isn't fundamentally broken like that though, they don't need to rebuild the whole thing.

That's good for people who own the PC version already because it means they will fix the shit out of this because they want to sell more games. Iron Galaxy dun fucked up.

doesn't matter, he's the CEO, guaranteed WB is breathing down his neck

which is probably funny because I'm willing to bet they're the ones who wanted this thing rushed out in this state in the first place

pretty much. RELEASE DAY AND DATE! FUCK IT!

We have no clue.

I just hope I can get good performance within a week. Or at least some missing effects. It's playable on my PC, with the 30 cap in place. Occasional stutter while driving quickly or whatnot but I can live with it. I'm 3-4 hours in and I kind of want to keep playing, but also kind of want to hold off until I can get a better experience.

Pretty amazing to see. They could've just continued to try to make money, but they're actually shutting down their revenue stream for the time being, and attempting to fix the product.

Makes sense to me. The less people playing it the less people that can legitimately complain about it or point out awful shit. Plus, if they just kept selling it and patching it over the course of a few months, they'll hardly get many more sales that way.

If they take it off of the market, fix it up squeaky clean and release it with a bang a month or two from now, they'll probably get a nice burst of sales, as opposed to dwindling interest.

I wonder if they did this mostly for losing money on refunds or to attempt to stop the negative social media spiral they are in. In any case, they made the right decision.

This is great news. Lets see if they can churn out a semi-decent version.

The next game I'm looking out for on PC is MGSV, and am super worried about it now. I hope it doesn't meet a similar fate.

This gives me a slight hope that the major issues (at least) will be resolved somewhat soon since I doubt they want to keep long without the game selling on PC.

I don't have much hope for the missing effects though.

This made me actually cancel my refund request for the game. I hope they can fix this.

Why? Either WB knew and thought they could get away with it or they didn't care enough to do proper testing and blindly pushed out a game. In the former case WB are assholes and don't deserve your money, while in the latter they sold a product from a dishonest developer because money is more important than integrity. Fuck that.

Ground Zeroes runs flawlessly. I'm confident it will be alright. Don't betray us Kojima.

Wow, I did not expect this at all. I don't recall this happening before. Are there previous examples of a PC game being so broken that they actually prevent you from buying it?

Good on 'em, though. It's no excuse for releasing it in the first place but I'm glad they're owning up to it and trying to fix it.

has something like this ever happened before

yep, ashes cricket:

was recalled.

that video is fucking hilarious, I wish I had the game

Hopefully they never use a shit tier studio for ports again. This time it finally bit them in the ass.

Would be funny if QLOC fixed both MKX and this.

Do these fucking devs think that somehow, this will be released to the public, get played by millions and yet no one will notice what a botched job it is? At the least Iron Galaxy knew this was complete and utter shit, if WB or Rocksteady did themselves not check the quality of the port I don't quite know what to say. Last I checked, they weren't exactly strapped for cash and a lazy port would hurt much more than paying for competent developers.

This is developers trying their luck, it's happening more and more it seems, broken games at launch are becoming the norm.

I agree. I'm ignorant when it comes to development cycles, but it sure seems that publishers are really pushing the developers to get the game completed in an un-realistic amount of time. The PS4 version runs great from what I heard. I guess that Iron Galaxy was having a tough time with the PC port. I wonder if they asked if they could delay it and WB said no? In any event, I hope this gets settled quickly.

Surprisingly great news. With Steam refund we can literally vote with our wallets.
Hope that other publishers are watching this and pay attention.

the term "shitshow" seems pretty accurate, who popularized it anyway, Bill Burr..?

oh yea, what a shitshow. this and the whole Destiny thing. gaming industry get your shit together please. asap.

Damn, is it REALLY that bad (PS4 copy here)?!?! I would've been pissed had this been my only option. At least the response means they're likely to fix it sooner.

he's the CEO of IG. he's involved no matter what.

He's like the CEO of Iron Galaxy, so yeah.

Thanks, yeah it hasn't been a good week.. Someone should call him and give him a little pick me up...

yeah exactly. Stop people buying it/then refunding it and leaving a bad taste in their mouth. Instead turn it into good PR and upgrade the game and basically re-release it.

STOP SHITTING ON MY MOTHER'S HEADSTONE
Refund. I bet Valve is also pissed about this.

I don't know if they're pissed, but this is definitely the first big, fucked-up game launch since they started the refund service, and I'm willing to bet a really high percentage of buyers decided they wanted their money back.

Congrats to game journalists everywhere, you have failed your audience, again.
But they have made their advertisers happy. That's the important part.
(That and they weren't given an opportunity to preview this botched port.)

I don't expect free shit, i don't expect it to run on max at 60fps on my gtx 670.

I just expect no vsync, no AA, 30fps, all normal, no fancy gameworks.

It mostly does that already except for the parts where it freezes up for a second at a time every few moments.
