Star Wars Battlefront Alpha leaks

Went over to my dad's place (he's a big PC gamer) and watched him play it for about an hour. Seems pretty cool even if it's just the hoth map. The explosion and gunfire effects were pretty amazing looking, and no the grenade launcher is not broken. You essentially get one burst of grenades to shoot out and they're really inaccurate and not all that powerful, and then you have to wait a while to even use them again.

I also thought it was pretty cool how once the AT-AT explodes and crashes its wreckage becomes a permanent landmark on the map.

Overall it seemed to run and look great. I just want to see some more maps.

Come on man, I love metro but it doesn't come close. And this is a bad looking gif, the game probably looks insane in person.

They're.... very different games. Kinda hard to compare them really. Metro looks amazing for the environments they use. And I still think that the volumetric fog in the original game (seemingly removed from Redux) is the best I've ever seen.

That Hoth map looks cool, but.... there's not much going on visually. It's pretty barren. Based on what I've seen, I'm actually not expecting this game to require a lot of GPU power to run. As such, I'm more easily impressed by games like Metro that pack each scene with a lot of detail and atmospheric effects.

(we really need more gameplay footage from that forest level)

Managed to play a couple of rounds via VPN, first spawn a spawn camper kills me, GG DICE.

I don't think the game looks that good either, it does'nt look bad that's for sure, the hoth map is not that attractive at all. Particles are by far the best thing visually.

The sound is on another level, wow.

I do agree with this a bit. I think the game looks damn good but a lot of the disbelief in it's visuals is confusing to me because of all the locations they have, only Endor isn't a barren area. I think Hoth looks least impressive just because it's Hoth, nothing but snow. Hopefully there are more times of day and locations that flatter it better. I really want to see some uncut Endor footage. The E3 footage of Tatooine looked much better than Hoth as well.

I agree Tatooine looks better than Hoth. From the brief snippets Endor looks gorgeous as well. Seriously looks are not going to be a problem. I am very cautious about piloting the X-wing and stuff. Impressions from the show floor were that the flight controls sucked right? Hoping some one can provide impressions on that. Also I really wish they played a little bit of music during the matches. Would really add to the atmosphere.

To be fair, we hardly seen much from Battlefront so maybe there will be maps with more going on. I do agree with you though. I do like how Tatooine looks though when it comes to detail on the rocks and such.

The forest level is probably the best looking map in the game. Metro does have a very different aesthetic.

I heard somewhere earlier that it's like the original Battlefronts where it's a health bar and to get health back you need pick ups. It recharging by itself is incredibly disappointing.

"maxfile.ro" is just the site where the images were hosted (I changed them)

So this is one of those games that won't even boot if you don't meet the requirements?

I seen someone say they can play on Ultra @ 60fps with a 7970 with a few dips here and there. So I won't even be able to start the game on low settings on a 7950? o_O

Snow effects are the new swaying greenery.

I love the videos not just for the absolutely gorgeous visuals, but also because this game looks fun as hell!

Same here. I have a feeling that I'll get this game, play all the maps a couple of times, take tons of screenshots at 4K and be done with it :/

It probably looks this good because the resources normally focused towards a campaign have been put elsewhere.

So I read an article where they are targeting 60fps across both consoles, is this still the case ? I'll be pretty impressed if they pull that off

The Thermal Imploder sound is glorious, the only reason i boot the alpha lol. Got 2 co workers big fans of the movies at my house to show them the game and they went nuts when that thing explodes lol.
