Xbox One adds Xbox 360 backwards compatibility

I'm gonna ask here as the Xbox support really haven't figured it out, it's slightly off-topic but maybe related to the preview program I'm guessing a lot of you also are using as you are in this thread. My screenshot function is not available. I simply do not have the Y and X optiosn to either take a screenshot or record when i double tap the Xbox guide button. I'm talking about these options:

screenshotxboxone.0.jpg

Anybody else have this problem?

I had this happen as well. In my circumstance, it had something to do with not having a box "checked" in my settings if I remember right.

I had to turn an option off during the Battlefield Hardline beta because it was recording a gameplay clip every thirty seconds. Make sure your box is checked under settings to record gameplay. I know it doesn't sound like screenshots and recording video would effect each other, but I'm about 90% sure that's what the problem was.

This should not be the case.

Do a hard reboot and try again.

If this does not resolve it you can only let the MS support know of it or as a last resort factory reset your console.

EDIT: Just read it again, and as you are already in contact with MS basically your only option would be the factory reset. Sucks, but I really don´t see anything else you can try on your end.
Dude, the factory reset worked! Thanks for the tip!

this may sound dumb but can you be part of the Xbox Preview program without owning an XB1? I just want to avoid the wait between picking up an XB1 and being able to play 360 games on it.

Don't think so, you need to run an app you download to the Xbox one to join the program.

It's been a while since I signed up, but I believe you have to download an app, open it and register the console. Several days pass before you receive your first update.

Just in case anyone else is looking for it, it's Settings > Preferences > Allow broadcasts and game captures. It controls broadcasts, game clips, and screenshots for the local console.

I'm sorry if this has been asked already, but does your XBLA library come over, or just select games? It sounds like its basically running a virtual 360, so if that's the case, it sounds like all my XBLA games would work?

I believe once they have made a game backwards compatible it automatically shows up in your library. You would just need to install it from there.

Eventually they may all make their way over but it's in the hands of the publishers to give Microsoft the OK. It's just select titles for now and eventually all first party titles that don't use Kinect ad the primary input.

Any XBLA game that the publisher has allowed BC, will automatically show up on your Xbox One.

It doesn't work like that. Each game needs to be tested because no two games are alike, regardless of them being on XBLA or Retail. An XBLA game can be just as hardware intensive as a retail game for the 360. They're built on different engines, use resources differently, etc etc. So just like retail games, they would need to make sure the games work well before allowing BC. And it also needs to have publisher approval as well, just like other games.

As much as they say it's all one emulator, given that some games seem to be having issues I'd imagine that they at least configure the emulator to different settings for each game.

So why did people buy Ghosts then if IW was already dead?

I didn't know that AW flopped, people seemed to really like it.

Not saying you are wrong in your assessment of the games but to think that newer games wouldn't sell because of old games being playable is really weird. You also have to realize that older COD games like MW, MW2 are infested woth hackers and Activision/IW/TA doesn't care one bit to maintain the MP.

Wasn't ghosts the lowest selling COD ip?

I think finally people are getting sick of CoD. It's still selling but I think in general the population realizes it's bored with it.

I have a question. So, lets say I bought a game in my peruvian XBL account (xbox one is not avaliable in Perú yet, so there is no Xbox One Games Store in the Peruvian Xbox Store). If I log in with my peruvian account on my Xbox One while this is set on en-US, would I be able to download my digital BC Xbox 360 games on my Xbox One?
I don't have any BC 360 game on my peruvian account yet and I'd like to buy some game on sale in this account to avoid regional locking problems with my US account.

I would think so, as long as the version of the game is identical. For example if the peruvian version of said game isn't a different UID or SKU to the US version.

With Rare Replay and Mega Man Legacy Collection coming out this year it'd be awesome if some other game compilations like the Genesis Collection be made backwards compatible.

Even so, people still buy it and its still the best selling game every year in spite of it not changing. People buy it, see its not as good as the older titles and just put it to the side. But they still buy it, so it wont "cannibalize" sales.

Is there any way to force the Xbox One to sync cloud saves? I finished Mass Effect last night and hopped over to my 360 to import my save but my latest save file isn't in the cloud.

By the way is there an option To change the language from the emulated Xbox360 menus as for some reason I am stuck with german. Tried going through menus but for no avail.

Bought lots of games on demand titles yesterday. Still frustrated how lots of games are behind IP/region lock.

For example RE6, Soul Calibur IV.

Keep in mind that certain games dont let you take screens or clips - its really rare but there are some. Gears of War beta doesnt let you for instance. Another example: Im pretty sure they patched Ground Zeroes so you cant record the cutscenes - when it first came out you could but it didnt let me the last time I tried. Perhaps to avoid spoilers in the game hub clips?

For the guys requesting OG Xbox emu, I'm totally with you (we finally get a decent D-Pad and we find the stinker that's THPS5? Nah, let me play 2X, 3, 4, or, uh... any of the good ones!), but I'd really, *really* see a native emulator for that platform, than an emulation of an emulation.

Idunno, seems like it would be way easier to have issues that way than it would be difficult to build a separate emulator. Plus, you'd get better compatibility, and not have to rely on the existing 360 emulator profiles.

Can you elaborate more please? I have a pal 360, and I got pissed that Dead Rising was region locked as the one I had was NTSC, I might be getting an XBO soon and I don't want more region lock crap.

Edit: I also changed the region of my account from UK to US, it wouldn't let me buy some games like Persona 4 Arena.

It syncs Xbox One games' cloud saves each time you close the game, maybe it works the same way with 360 games.

Did you try a few minutes after closing the game?

Yeah I waited, even left it overnight and it still has older saves on the cloud. I'll try it again after work hopefully it syncs otherwise I have to do Ilos and the rest of the end game again on my 360.

I'm sure it's been mentioned, but since certain Xbox originals worked on 360, if there is a digital version and it's being emulated on the 360 emulator...... you'd think it should work.

edit: yup -
I would think that's what Grabbed by the Ghoulies in Rare Replay is doing...

X1 is cool, fully region free.

360 is still behind IP lock with some titles.

X1 is region free even with region locked 360 games? I can download all my 360 games that are backwards compatible right? My 360 library is mostly digital.

Thanks.

I've played Mass Effect with BC on Xbox One for about 4 hours and I only noticed framefrate drops a couple of times when entering bigger areas in the Citadel so far. Works better than I expected from reading some posts in here.

That I don't know. I asked the same question when they first announced BC but no answers so far.

Who would of thought people on forums would blow things out of proportion?! Haha
All the BC games I have tried so far have run flawlessly and if there are any issues I'm sure MS is working to fix them before the official launch later this year.
It's in the preview program for a reason.

I hope they are updating the list of games pre-launch. And also include Dead Rising 1.

They are for sure. They said there should be around 100 games when it launches properly, so that gives us a few months for more games in the preview. I wish they would hurry up and get some more in pretty quickly though! I want to play Burnout Paradise again!

I'm not shocked with people shitting on the feature, but there's also general confusion with people frequently asking the same questions or dismissing it thinking the current list is all there is.

This is probably true, but my problem was that the prompts simply weren't there under any circumstance. I fixed the problem with a factory reset!

It can get real bad in combat when teammates are using biotics, I found it got particularly bad when fighting Rachni and using biotics.

With modded Xbox, you could alter the color of the X. I wonder if it also allows custom images?
Indeed I had a yellow X. Loved my modded Xbox, was so amazing all the stuff you could do back in the day :)

Anyway, is N+ just as fucked for everyone else? It stutters bad and being a twitch platformer it is pretty much unplayable as a result on my XBO.
