That car following cut that corner like mad, was that AI?

Lol that was me in the Honda trying to catch the Williams.

That's not the Mclaren. The AI are super fast on the straights. It's either a bug or to make up for their lack of cornering speed.

The McLarens speed isn't helping though. I'm 1-2 seconds slower with that than other cars. It peforms like a Marussia.

For me and doing laps times I'd say this is the fastest to slowest.

  1. Mercedes
  2. Williams
  3. Ferrari
  4. Lotus
  5. Red Bull
  6. Force India
  7. Toro Rosso
  8. Sauber
  9. McLaren
  10. Marussia

Edit: Anyone notice that they are slower than the AI on straights? I had the Manor pull away from a DRS'd Mercedes today.

Yep, on the back straight at China i had a Caterham waltz off from my W05 as if i was standing still, lol. Also, anyone else not able to shift out of 2nd coming out of the pits?

Just about as it should be, except Toro Rosso needing to be a little higher maybe.

Yeah, I'm getting that too. It doesn't happen all of the time, but definitely quite often. It seems to unlock gear changes once you reach the end of the white line on pit exit from what I've noticed.

Having a weird thing happen every time I enter the pits. It's like the car loses all power and I have to coast to the point at which the pit assist picks me up again. Anybody else have this?

Lots of neat little touches with this release, skipped 2014 but I own 2010/11/12/13 on PC. This is definitely the easiest to get into, I dunno whether the cars are just easier to handle now or whether its something they've done to assist gamepad users but it was actually really easy to jump into where previous versions had a lot of over or understeer depending on which year you played. I also found I could completely turn off Traction Control without much of problem, in some of the previous titles with a gamepad you had to run Low TC at least or you could find yourself spinning a lot.

The game looks kind of bland in some places, you can see there is an overall improvement and the car models look great with the heat haze out the back etc, but I did Singapore in Stormy weather for a quick race, games seriously look next gen there. Utterly amazing.

Love the torque of the new motors, getting caught up a gear isn't much of an issue, the cars pull hard, where in the past you had to be ringing their neck it is less of an issue with these cars. I do find I have to adjust to the 8 speed though and knocking down through more gears, I also usually do it too fast and compression lock the rears.

The only thing this game needs is the old Career mode, I jumped straight into Lewis seat as he's my favourite driver, but really I think you should have had to have started at lower teams and worked your way up through contracts like previous games.

Overall though, a solid title imo. No it's not super hardcore but I think it does enough to please a larger audience of fans; not too hardcore for casual fans and not too easy for the hardcores.

Anyone managed to get the hang of starts without TCS? I'm getting mugged every time...

Hold revs at the point where redline kicks in but don't let the last third of the dial turn red at all. As the tyres bite just modulate the throttle ro minimize wheelspin and then shortshift. Takes a bit to master it but the car will launch lovely once you get it...

What kind of controller are you using? I am finding the opposite with this game, that it was much easier with the previous versions with a controller. I didn't need TC at all for the previous two versions, and now I feel that I do when I used the Xbox one controller. I have to be extremely gentle otherwise the car just keels to the left and spins out.

I'm looking for car setups for F1 2015. Maybe the community is invisible or slow, but I can't find them.

Only found a general video about car setups in F1 2015: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGm12H9Uq1c

And setups/track guides for the first 9 tracks:

Australian Grand Prix - Melbourne: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGm12H9Uq1c
Malaysian Grand Prix - Kuala Lumpur: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNHNlj05Q5Y
Chinese Grand Prix - Shanghai: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VPvUrD5GH58
Bahrain Grand Prix - Sakhir: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EaUNfzPYNiY
Spanish Grand Prix - Barcelona: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4Ffkz2WWus
Monaco Grand Prix - Monte Carlo: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JPpC5ztvwxg
Canadian Grand Prix - Montreal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yLH8IHBF5K4
Austrian Grand Prix - Spielberg: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYE6a8yYvQE
British Grand Prix - Silverstone: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vxE1ZltL66c

Does anyone have good setups here? Or does anyone knows a active community where people post them? Back in the day with Grand Prix 2 there were a lot of setups.

Did a custom match with a friend with a few tracks, second race in we should have been racing together but he was seeing one thing and I saw another. Took the entire race and then half the next to sort itself out and he kind of appeared where he said he was.

Isolated incident or is the online janky?

Odd. I am using a 360 wireless pad. No changes to the standard controller settings, all assists off except dynamic racing line for corners.

I put it to TC Medium the first race and thought holy hell this car is on rails, I couldnt believe how neutral it was, no under or over steer. Decided I would do a few laps of Singapore in stormy weather and turned off TC to just see what it was like, of course you could light the rear wheels in the wet easily but it never felt ridiculously sensitive, went back into season mode did a race and was really comfortable with it, decided to turn TC off again only to find I did the previous race of the season with TC off already. Never even remotely had a problem with lighting the tires, even in the wet.

Conversely in previous F1 titles from 2013 backward I used TC medium or low because I just found applying power with any sort of lock on the wheel just wanted to kick the car about and it was hard to pull out of corners without the car wanting to twitch all the time or I had to apply power so slowly everyone would pull away.

I mean I doubt I am pulling great times by multiplayer standards but even compared to the other games, I just found I could turn every assist off, jump into a race and not feel like I had to tip toe it around, its just always felt really planted.

I wanted to dominate the living room. Then I took an ESRAM in the knee.

I guess the problem has nothing to do with Monaco, but more with the AI's behavior under blue flags. Same happened, rather appropriately, with Maldonado in Melbourne when I was about to overlap him.

Went into the pits to put on inters as it started raining. Got to the pit box and my pit crew were facing the wrong direction. My car just sat there outside the pit box and had to quit.

This is on xbox one with no patches installed. Just thought it was hilarious.

I had it happen once in the same place actually. In general they slow right down and get off the racing line with a little less gusto! 8)

My first 3 races. 3 punctures...one in each race 8)
Playing on hard, assists off aside from TC which is on full.

Driving is to die for. The way you feel the grip on your tirel and then feel it disappear is sublime.

I've noticed the AI getting off the racing line when you're lapping them like this. Sometimes it works beautifully, and sometimes it works horribly. I lapped Alonso at Catalunya and he briefly lifted off the throttle and went to the inside between T3 and T4 and I thought "wow, that was actually pretty nicely done". Then at Monza I came to lap Merhi and he parked his car on the apex of T8/Variante. Not so good.

Then again, when Merhi pulls stuff like this I'm not surprised :p

GIF of me lapping Alonso, sorry for horrible size and quality, Imgur converted it to webm (I'm new to making gifs, someone please help me :p)

I've been running constant 60+ fps at 2560x1080 on Ultra (FXAA only and reflections on High) with a AMD 290. No crashes either apart from when alt f4ing the game which causes it to txry and recover which I cancel :p

Doing some trials in the wet at Melbourne. Fastest lap on the leaderboard is 1:11.

Good to see lap times are broken.

Edit: It seems the Xbox One version is missing the tire damage panel. It can be turned on through controls with the option Info being enabled but on Xbox One its missing wheres on PS4 and PC its there.

Glad you pointed this out. I thought it was dumb that this feature was missing, I didn't realise it was on other platforms. I just figured I didn't know how to activate it because I'm using the TM Leather 28 wheel and the button mappings are weird and unlabelled :p

But seriously, why the hell is it missing?

Can't find it on Ps4.

Just can't get the hang of driving with my controller. I don't want to use TC due to the increased tire wear, I'd much rather have it off. It just feels like one I push down on the trigger it goes from 0 to full on in a second.

Now if setting up my G27 wasn't so much of a hassle I would be using that. I need one of those wheel stand pros.

And for me, the PC performance is fine. I am running it with a 980 Ti though.

Was using TC in all F1 games, but decided to turn it off for 2015 (now driving without any assists). However I do not feel the slightest difference between full and no TC.

Hm? There is a huge difference, especially in low-downforce corners or in the rain. It's normal that you can go flat out on the throttle in high downforce situations, if that's what you mean.

If you really don't see any difference, that has to be a bug then.

That's what happens when I press the controller's trigger fully in a low downforce situation with no assists:

There is a difference in the rain most definitely, but mostly raced in the Dry thus far. Haven't done something like in your gif yet though.

Had a race online and it was all clean. Raced at Singapore and started last but got into first by the last chicane. Managed to squeeze through since I wasn't sure if opponents can be driven through. Won the race 9 seconds ahead.

Wish it offered replays so I could see how my overtaking looked. Also turned off all traction now and it feels so much better going into bends where you maintain speed. Had a go at Pro Season which the race was in the wet. For now I can't be bothered with it so quit lol.

The game is too easy with pad and wheel with all assists off Hard AI. Im about 1-2 sec quicker in quali with both peripherals at Melbourne and im on Primes vs them on Options...

In the wet (spitting to medium) you can drive nearly as hard as in the dry even with slicks. Again this is with all assists off.

I am doing the same as you in a Williams on Legend and I can do p6 for Q but in the race I really need to be faultless to be able to get within p4.

I hate to be that guy, but, umm.. turn the difficulty up? :p

Finding this too.

I moved up to expert and qualy times it was down to around 0.7s in my favour.

On race day it was close up until the first set of pit stops and then boom fresh tyres and mix 3 = 20 seconds ahead.

Was raining in Spain for me, using inters, had 2 stops planned, Nico was up my arse the whole time up to the first stop. Nico and Vettle pit, I stay out for a further 2 laps with Bottas ~ 2.5s behind me.

I pit for fresh inters, Bottas does too.

Come out of the pits and Rosberg has undercut me so I'm now 2nd with Bottas right behind me.

Catch Rosberg after 6 laps, take him clean and a few laps later he pits for fresh inters. I check the weather and it's supposed to stop raining in 10mins.

Take a gamble and put on the options. Rain stops, start lapping 8s faster than everyone else and beat my best lap by 5s.

Build up a massive lead of 40+s due to everyone else having to put yet again to put slicks on.

I get a free pitstop with 3 laps to go. Put on the prines, mix 3 and smash in some low 1.20s

Won the race.

I hate Catalunya too.
