I'm sorta worried to make a new thread because I'm not sure how permitted discussion about these topics are, but the creator of this is currently doing a series on Anita Sarkessian and Gamergate/Angry Internet Culture called "Why Are You So Angry?". I'm watching them now and they are similarly great.
I heard his new game was pretty promising, Chris praised it on Idle Thumbs.

Regardless of the quality of Fez, anyone that thinks this is an acceptable thing to say is downright sociopathic. A shred of modesty never hurt anyone, and it certainly would aid in his artistic merit.
Good on him for being successful and following his dreams and whatnot.

lol good times https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ic1YLkpl1DoIt was a joke from Futurama.
Decided to go check out his twitter page. Still shouting crazy things, but now with wayyyy fewer people giving him any attention given the retweet/favorite count on some of them. Huh.

You should PM a mod to make sure, but I think these videos are definitely worth discussing in a separate thread. Thanks for posting them!
You should see his Twitter feed now. Same dumb stuff, lazily trying to get a rise out of people.
Which twitter page are you looking at?
Part of the behavior of sociopaths attacking him are those who still today continue to impersonate him.
This is his only real twitter page: https://twitter.com/PHIL_FISH/
Check the dates of those tweets. Dude basically shut down his twitter and went AWOL nearly a year ago when he was doxxed and had private company information and financial records leaked by hackers. It was pretty brutal.
Edit: You were probably looking at a fake account. Even now there are people harassing him by making shallow impersonations of him. Disgusting.
It was a joke from Futurama.
We place much less value on shit on the internet/twitter than we do in real life, it's sociopathic if viewed from the lens of someone saying it to someone else's face in person in earnest. Someone telling someone else to kill themself is basically internet lexicon.
Take that snapshot for example, we don't even have context of what the tweet he was responding to because we don't care. We also seemingly don't care about the death threats sent to him to find it worthy of analyzing in the same manner.
Your kind of post is exactly what the video talks about.
Like you've never said something you regret later. Or said something that you thought was funny because it's a direct reference to a popular cartoon, only to later realize the context was lost on delivery.
Phil Fish has done and said some really stupid things, but none of that justifies the hate mobs he's faced, or the doxxing of his entire personal and professional life (and the lives of his colleagues), or the death threats, or anything else.
You're just regurgitating screenshots that everyone knows exists, in order to convince others that he's not a worth human being to have empathy for, because he's said some stupid things on Twitter.
You're not providing an interesting perspective or new information, especially not to anyone in this thread.
You can have empathy for someone and still not agree with the way they act and treat people. Fish thinks that Fez gave him a key to the city - he was always, always pretentious about it. Being famous does not make you a better person.
Now you're calling him "pretentious"? I can't even begin to comprehend how his behavior is "pretentious". At best he's kind of an asshole, but he's acting after Fez released the exact same way he always acted before Fez released, heck before anyone even knew what Fez is.
That is what the entire video is about, in fact - have you even watched it? Because you're literally regurgitating everything it talks about from the perspective of someone who's only read negative things about Phil Fish from sociopaths on the internet.

You seem way too worked up with how Phil Fish conducted himself. Why does it matter if he acts "pretentious"?

Wait... What's the diff... Oh, it's a lowercase L. I guess you could say it's a fishing technique.... get it? Fishing? Phishing? Get it? It's funny.Real account: https://twitter.com/PHIL_FISH/
Fake account: https://twitter.com/PHIL_FlSH/
Subtle use of ASCII characters by sociopathic internet terrorists.
I think he's a good game designer. He's just a shit human being. Artists who lack modesty generally have a similar attitude, though. His game only enflamed an ego that apparently existed beforehand as well (which makes it ok?). Remember the context of his quote:
"The thing with us "tosspots" "hipsters" is that we're not beholden to media leeches like you, and you're right. we're VERY successful. And we're not going anywhere. Get used to it you middle-aged parasite. Compare your life to mine and then kill yourself."
Great pop culture reference! Nothing pretentious here at all. At best, an asshole.
Their sole purpose? Trying to convince people that the accepted stereotype of his behavior is actually real.
Imagine thinking someone is a victim when they tell someone to commit suicide publicly due to their crippling aspergers.
This says a lot about the sort of blind hate Phil Fish attracts, and why you should take anything said by that crowd with an enormous pile of salt.edit: nevermind, the twitter account I was looking at was a fake one impersonating Fish.

We shouldn't place less value on what we say on the Internet because real people exist on each side. As for not caring, that is your own doing and some research might help. http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/126385-Update-Fez-Dev-Tells-Media-Member-To-Kill-Himself is the context.

Fuck this bullying culture we live in. People are so fucking jealous of any shred of success and talent. Get over yourselves.

Phil Fish might be the first game designer more famous for his behind-the-scenes drama than his games.
