Nintendolife: Project CARS for Wii U cancelled

Slightly Mad Studios has confirmed to Nintendo Life that the Wii U version of Project CARS has been cancelled...The official line is that we're awaiting an announcement from Nintendo on new hardware. As of now pCARS is simply too much for the Wii U.

Not sure if this is old news, but, surely a bummer for Wii U fans. Would like to know what took them so long to make the call.

Sorry to hear for those who waited from the beginning, hoping for a it to come to the Wii U. While I was never a backer, I always thought the Wii U was a given, from the beginning. I guess I thought wrong.

Can't believe it took them this long to announce it, everyone has pretty much expected this for a really long time now.

I backed this project from the very beginning because I expected a Wii U version eventually. I am not happy

At least Steam version came out of it

They can't even get it to perform at 60fps on the PS4/Xbox One, there was no way it would've been a decent port on Wii U.

I believe it was originally pitched to backers as a PC/Wii U game before the PS4/XB1 even came out.
This. Devs just aren't willing to put in the effort imo. Nfs on wiiu runs and looks great so I know it can be done. Glad I didn't back this one.

This is why you should never contribute to crowdfunding.

The WIi U version was never a goal or a promise in the crowdfunding campaign, according to the developer

Studio head Ian Bell then clarified the situation by stating that Project CARS on Wii U was always a "maybe", and that the release was not part of the original crowdfunding pitch.

They clearly promised this without having a proper grasp on what the WiiU could and couldn't do, which was pretty scummy on their part. The people who backed this because they wanted the WiiU version were pretty much hung out to dry.

I was always shocked at their intention to bring it too Wii U. Seemed like a desperate promise to gain more attention to the project.

It was obvious that this was never going to work out.

If, however, they're still committed to releasing pCARS on NX, they should call it the Armoured Edition. Take that L and own it like men, Slightly Mad.

Crazy. Crowdfunding can be a great tool but when stuff like this happens, it makes me very wary of the whole process. The fact that they took so long to finally officially cancel the game is really disrespectful to those who backed the game hoping for a Wii U version.

I'm so glad the only project I've personally funded, Shovel Knight, turned out to be a big success.

Expected. Feel horrible for any backer that put money up wanting the Wii U version though. Never put money into crowdfunding you aren't ok with losing I suppose.

They sold it to us as Wii U/PC project

Are you gauys sure? On the Nintendo Life article they say it was never a goal or something like it

Studio head Ian Bell then clarified the situation by stating that Project CARS on Wii U was always a "maybe", and that the release was not part of the original crowdfunding pitch.

I'm confused

This was very expected. What does it mean for the backers?

I would sue them, to get my money back if I was a backer. Dont you usually have to tell which platform you want your copy for? So if you dont get it on your platform and dont got another one, its payback time I guess...

If that's the case, why does people keep repeating that it was promised? Wasn't 360/PS3 versions also in development at some point, but those also got cancelled.
