The reboot was terribly overrated. I hope this one fails.
terribly overrated? it's got iirc an 84 on metacritic which is actually really good but not critically acclaimed. what would you say the game deserved? The reboot was terribly overrated. I hope this one fails.
I see what you're saying but it wasn't the same as what I suggested - I don't think QB's timing had anything to do with mS watching Uc4's.
Yes, I'm not disagreeing with you there. but mS has a lot, a lot, a lot of money. they've already invested in some interesting new IPs - scalebound, QB, their fighting series KI, so if they don't have something uncharted like of their own that they'd like to have then that's their problem; denying the competition the opportunity to play a game they were going to get in the first place isn't the right way to handle the offering, but maybe it's just like you said: the mS way.
And Sony way too.. People forget that Sony did the same in the past, like Haze (halo killer)
I'm pretty sure the monetary incentive was enough to compensate for lost sales, else why put out this PR
Here we go again...
By releasing first on a single platform!, by the time they do release it in other formats it will be D.O.A.We’re about growing our IP
The reboot was terribly overrated. I hope this one fails.
Waiting for SF5 and FF7R to come up.
This.passion = lots of money
The reboot was terribly overrated. I hope this one fails.
"Having been working with us on previous games in a lesser sense, they’ve been supportive. [However], for Rise of the Tomb Raider, they’ve just brought this passion and belief that has really enabled us to blow people away.
"It (passion) becomes the most important thing. We’re about growing our IP, this is a long-term decision.
As a PS4 only owner seeing Uncharted 4 and Rise of the Tomb Raider side by side on a store shelf the same year , I'm going for Uncharted first.
The reboot was terribly overrated. I hope this one fails.
I'll exercise my passion for the games industry by spending my money elsewhere.
well, that was different because it was a new IP. i said i don't have a problem with 3rd part exclusives, but tr has pretty much always been multiplatform. also, i didn't know sony paid ubi to have haze exclusive. And Sony way too.. People forget that Sony did the same in the past, like Haze (halo killer)
Square Enix CEO of the Americas and Europe Phil Rogers said:"What we saw in Microsoft, which is probably not as well known, is that Microsoft’s willingness to throw a fuckload of money at Tomb Raider is amazing.
"Having been working with us on previous games in a lesser sense, they’ve been supportive. [However], for Rise of the Tomb Raider, they’ve just brought this huge truckload of money that has really enabled us to blow people away. People should feel that about Microsoft. Their monetary commitment to Tomb Raider is just amazing for us," Rogers said.
"To see Tomb Raider showcased with Halo, Forza and Gears and see Tomb Raider there, it’s amazing for us because we'd normally have to pay a shitload for that type of marketing."
"If you don’t know, Phil [Spencer] lords over Crystal [Dynamics] every time he’s in the Bay Area. Phil is the most welcomed guest, because he pays us, he’ll come talk to the team and tell them how to make the game for marketable and accessible, play the game and [Microsoft] is a very committed organization to our properties. It just makes it that much more exciting for us, as shareholders" Rogers said.
"It (money) becomes the most important thing. We’re about growing our IP, financially, this is a long-term decision for our annual profit margins. We’re going to take Tomb Raider up to the next level of profitability. With Microsoft’s belief, money and marketing muscle to help us deliver, we really think this is going to be an awesome game that people will enjoy for two years until we release the next biennial installment."
the fact that they've said as much about this contract as they have is still baffling to me. alot of companies would just tip toe around the issue that its just a timed exclusive. "ya we're exclusive to xb1 this holiday! please understand"
well, that was different because it was a new IP. i said i don't have a problem with 3rd part exclusives, but tr has pretty much always been multiplatform. also, i didn't know sony paid ubi to have haze exclusive.
sorry, but that is no different at all...Haze was to be multiplatform. I remember because I really wanted that game...
+1 by what phil spencer said as well. something like
"i'm a big fan of uncharted, and we currently don't have a game on our system of that ilk..."
sorry, but that is no different at all...Haze was to be multiplatform. I remember because I really wanted that game...
terribly overrated? it's got iirc an 84 on metacritic which is actually really good but not critically acclaimed. what would you say the game deserved?
Never even heard of this game before. You are stretching here.
Trash is an understatement. It all worked out in the end. That game was trash.
so this likely won't be the last tr, so my question now is, is mS going to by the exclusive rights to tr from here on out?
