Of course there has to be a homing missile that just shoots you in the face at the end of E-09 The journey. Because that level isn't super long and difficult enough already. ><

Finished E-10 and I think I have reached a point, where frustration overshadows motivation in some levels.
I will stick to the legacy levels for now to not get myself burned out.

This has been my experience with this game in a nutshell

Finished E-10 and I think I have reached a point, where frustration overshadows motivation in some levels.

Did the same but now I'm getting to the same point with the legacy levels. Guess I'll just be taking it super slow from now on. Just maybe do a chapter a day

I did E-10 in the beta and yeah, one of those levels took a while. Wasn't tooooo bad though. Just beat D-14 in the full game, working across. I'm definitely starting to get a little annoyed sometimes though, I'm not a fan of those levels that just flood the screen with enemies!

Legacy for a while sounds good. I wanted to move onto Legacy but I was four levels into D-14 and trapped there until it was finished like it was some kind of curse or something.

It was the last level of the episode and the problem there was mainly that I had very little time left.

I don't find them too bad. It's quite satisfying to slowly work out a pattern
with many deaths involved
and then avoid all these enemies with ease later, although I asked myself "How the f.. should I get through this?" earlier.
S-E-08-04 'schnorgled' was one of those levels that I tought where just impossible first, but then it was so cool when you know all the enemy-movements and finally be able to beat the level.

Just everything with clones and homing missiles involved is my main frustration factor of the game. I just suck at these.

Homing missiles are my favourite enemy. They're so predictable in a way that turrets sometimes aren't so it's really fun to work around them. Whenever a homing missile kills me it was my fault. Sometimes when a turret kills me it feels like it fired too soon or in the wrong direction or something.

Yeah I don't like laser turrets, sometimes they seem to fire way before the reticle closes and I don't know what's up with that. I can trick them most of the time but it feels like BS more often than not. I hate homing missiles and evil ninjas as well, but it's certainly my fault when they kill me.

Yeah, it's pretty random, I can't repo it at all, seems to be a per-playstation thing since it appears to happen to the same people over and over again, but doesn't happen to 9999/10000 people =/

Does that mean you guys already sold more than 10,000 copies? Way more?

Please tell me yes :)

I played this six hours straight today and it's just about everything I loved about N+ on the 360, with the exception of the missing online play and the absolutely staggering amount of content in this version. I'm gonna be playing this for years :)

No longer boycotting the Wolfenstein franchise
I'm so stuck on E-19, my final episode in the bottom row. I got through three levels last night, in what I felt was a pretty efficient manner, but then I was utterly screwed on time on the fourth level. Tried to restart and really rush, and now I stupidly can't beat level two again. Grrr... I have like 300 some failures on that episode now.

Missiles are the worst. Evil Ninjas probably present the most challenge but I love how they make you really think about what you're doing tactically

Had to restart that episode today too. Almost exactly the same problem: completed Level 3 (fourth one) with just under 2 seconds left :(
Fortunately I'm now on the last level with 34 seconds, which I hope are enough to complete it...

Edit: WOO I did it :D
Edit 2: No option setting unlocked btw

Woah, congrats. I'm still struggling to get through the last D and E levels. Only reason I get gold anymore is to boost the time, I've given up on all-gold. >_>

Fun game! Minor constructive criticism:

  • Honestly, fewer levels would have be nice. I'm never realistically going to "beat" this thing given its scope... so instead it's just something to pass the time until I get bored. I don't have any motivation to really tackle the hard levels since I'm never going to complete this anyway.
  • The music is kind of awful. Maybe it's just not my thing, but... why do like 20% of the songs have beeps and bloops and other sounds that I confuse with sound effects from the game? It's such a crazy design decision, I feel like I'm going mad. Is there an option to turn off the music but keep the sounds effects?
I'm enjoying myself, though!

If you hold L2 and R2 on the main menu you can access the playlist and turn specific songs off, I think. You might have to just press buttons and see what happens.

It doesn't have to be on the main menu, you can do it when you pause in game as well.

Oh wow that's neat. I love the soundtrack though.

The huge OST and palettes are a boon to a game of this length IMO, especially since there's no "sections" for natural music/scenery changes.

Against my own advice I went back again to the E-row of the N++ section.
The result: 344 deaths in E-14, probably 250 of that in the last level alone.

XLloqTw.jpg

Died like 7 or 8 times on the very final corner of the level because I couldn't figure out how to do that last stretch. And I really did not want to quit there, because it took me a long-ass time to learn a save route through this level. So it was either I beat that now or probably never touch that episode again. Five E-episodes left for me in that row.

But still have not reached 5000 deaths yet.

3 times now. Is that a bug? Shouldn't I be unlocking different options?

This was upon completing a column of Solo Legacy and one of Co-Op N++.

note: there are 2 completely different routes, one of which might be easier for you than the other... (sorry if you already know this! that level may be a bit harder than we thought, sort of N++'s version of N+'s "master control")

I love and am really impressed with how much content is in this. Maybe you could settle for completing some of the stages, letters a-c or something and still end up satisfied with your purchase?

I do have a few minor complaints of my own (one similar to yours):

1: I'm getting a little eye strain unless I sit really close to the screen, because the camera is zoomed out too much, unlike N+ on the 360. Maybe I'm just getting old (39), but it would be nice with a zoom option.

2: While I applaud the decision to go with something other than classic chiptunes, a lot of the music is quite forgettable. When it's good, it's really good and there's certainly enough of it, most of it just isn't that engaging.

Other than that it's still such a lovely well crafted game. We need a new N++ every generation :)

Ahh, Master Control is probably the level I remember the most from N+. I played that level so, so many times before I beat it. It's in the N++ retro section, right?

Music is very much a taste thing, so it's totally understandable that you may not dig N++'s music selection, but I'd say overall it's a fantastic selection of low-key techno that does a excellent job creating a distinct mood for the game.

Finally, as per Shawn's post, can it be assumed that creating a level, saving it without publishing it, then exiting the game is what was causing the save bug for those of us who encountered it? Close to being fixed?

As someone who really loves this kind of music, it's such a treat. Most of it is really underserved in games, and as you mentioned, it really helps round out the game's identity by matching haunting sounds with stuff on-screen that you should be very afraid of.

I can't stop listening to it. I listen to the spotify list when I'm at work, even.

Only on the A- and B- rows of N++ selections... and I'm so hooked again. I'm streaming every time when I play now and I'd imagine that the 1 or 2 people tuning in probably think I'm such a masochist since I always try for all-gold on my first attempts at any given stage. Usually takes me 50 deaths or so until I stop going for all the gold and merely try to finish a stage.

I like the music but I can see that some of it is pretty annoying. Like there's this one track which I could like, but the first minute of it has these random noises all over the place and it's unlistenable.

I'm in the same boat, even though I'm fully aware that collecting all gold immediately isn't the 'ideal' way to learn the ropes per new stage.

Train-of-thoughts where I tell myself to give x or y level 5 more tries... only to constantly move the goalpost out of sheer stubbornness exasperates the situation too.

If I try to get all the gold once, that's it, I'm fucked.

I can look at a stage and go "nooooooooooooope" and run to the exit, but as soon as I try to get all the gold once I can't stop until I've done it.

The satisfaction gained is proportionally equal to the frustration you're subject to in arriving at a perfect all-gold finish. Multiplied by 1000 if a great song is on when you finally get there, or course. :)

Cannot stop listening to Rival Consoles's "I Left The Party." That stuff is my secret weapon in going for all-gold runs.

That just looks incredibly evil. Are those missile launchers or the slow lock-on snipers?

Missile launchers. Still took me 200+ tries. I basically had the level on lock except for the ending, which was very hard to time right. Low ceiling + so many mines + robot = hard to dodge those missiles!

I always find the strategy with missile launchers, if you have enough space, is to jump back in the direction it's coming from, hoping it will go under you and then curve up towards a ceiling if there's one nearby. That level looks really tough since they're basically flying at you, at player height!

My favourite part of the complicated levels is figuring out your moves, composing your set pieces, and then executing it perfectly. Sometimes you die time and time again to add another set piece onto your chain, but finally figuring out the new piece you add on that allows you to advance is really satisfying. Then you get into stuff like improvised moves that somehow work, in a pinch, when small parts of your strategy go to the wind because of something like a homing missile that manages to track you further than you expected, for example. But you manage to wall jump and dodge it by mere pixels and feel like a badass ninja, threading the needle.

This game... :D

Had fun trying to figure out the first hard section in this level, decided to bail instantly after nailing it just to finally finish the level. I think getting all the gold involves going down to the bottom (before the jump into the box with the door/goal), jumping above the 2 trailing shadow ninjas as they catch up, and finally double backing all the way out at the top of the stage to get the big box full of gold. Then making it all the way back down again. Yiiiikes! I'm gonna go back for it eventually.

First I was trying to jump between the mines to the right of the switches as a shortcut. It was a tight jump and I was so happy when I got it working consistently... just to find out it didn't leave me in a good position to get all gold effectively :D

I finally got it by
jumping down at the triggers, then quickly back up into the box above with a wall jump to the right. Hung in the right side waiting for the shadow ninjas to clear, jumped to the left and made my way up and to the right.

Also, I hate you devs. This level is just pure mean:

I wish there was a global leaderboard rather than a global ranking. To be honest I want to creep on those that get the high scores and learn their ways rather than hoping that someone posts a video on how to do a level.

you can do that, there is even a trophie for that!

Go to the level you want , switch to global scores, choose a name of a player and push X

ps: finished ALL solo levels with legacy too and have only 3 secrets. Wish they would give some hints

Been constantly playing this game the last couple of days. It's so much fun. Can't stop playing.

Never going to get the platinum trophy, though. Some of the levels are made by satan I think.

Yes! I've beaten all of the bottom row levels.
One of the biggest plattforming challenges I've ever done.
Such a troll you unlock even more difficult expert levels after that. Won't touch these anytime soon.
