Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition Announced (PC/XB1)

If it's not free for current users then I don't have much interest. I think this is a way to try and sell a Windows 10 version as a fresh version though so I'm expecting them to charge for it

edit: Ah, Major calls it an expansion, so that's a good sign

Right. Expansion means we can probably just buy the extra content.

there was one area that we were locked out of which prevented me from getting 100%. hope they fixed that. also I hope they added fast travel back as originally planned.

Welp, beta testing the game was fun I guess. Hopefully it's a free update for people who already own it.

Good, but I hope they release a free patch to address the glaring problems of the game (mainly the ability to revisit previous stages and areas in a Metroidvania game).

It's cool the game is getting more content as I've heard great things about it

That being said that name isn't very good, shovel knights method of naming the DLC something is much better and conveys what it is better I think

Hmm it's pretty obvious 'definitive edition' just means main game + expansion bundle onto one download or disk. I'm 100% sure you'll be able to buy the expansion separately if you already have the game.

Highly likely day one for me, Ori is one of the best games I've played this year.

It's a fantastic game and was well worth what I spent. If I need to spend more (up the the price of the original game for example) to get more Ori goodness, I'll gladly do it.

This game is MUCH better than a lot of the $60 AAA titles that are out there.

Not that I was a huge fan of the story (as it kinda disappeared completely after the intro only to appear near the end), but I really wonder how they'll handle adding more things to it.

Silly name imo, why not call it "Extended Edition" or sth like that? After all the remasters, "Definitive Edition" sounds like graphics update for new platforms to me. But maybe that's just me *shrug*

I recently bought it on Steam but I'll hold out for this version, I hope the update/DLC (?) is priced accordingly.

Yeah, confusing naming. I'm fine with an expansion, just don't want to spend money on a game if a better version is coming out in a few months.

Been waiting to play it.

It should be a free upgrade, the game isn't really that old. :/

This. Or should've been DLC. A definitive edition of a game not even a year old and probably coming out this year too.. What?

Yea let me pay cost plus a bit extra for stuff that should be a patch or dlc.

Still loathe no new game plus and no backtracking whatsoever after final area.

Bullshit design.

Awkward choice of name but some freaking out for no reason. Getting an expansion pack and rebundling the base game+expansion pack is incredibly common (see Diablo 3, Civilization 5, etc). Long as they are letting you buy the expansion by itself, which they are, I don't see how anyone can be upset with this.

Well good thing I waited I guess.

Wait, so why is this game considered part of that genre?

Corpekata I think that's why some are upset. If they charge people to add that stuff then it's understandable why people would be upset. We don't know that yet though

Also, like you said calling it "definitive edition" so soon after release is strange

On the Xbox show, later this year with new mechanics and levels. Yay!

Thank you for making this topic. I was literally going to try to beat this game for the first time in one sitting today. Looks like I'll just wait now until the extra content is there. Now I can move on to other backlog stuff hahah.

What? It's DLC? Five months is too early to announce paid DLC? Do you feel like you didn't get your money's worth with the initial purchase?
Name indicated it was a re-release with a few new bits, not an expansion. My reply was from another thread that didn't have much info.

If they are releasing an expansion that is fine by me.

Probably should've announced or come or with the DLC first. Look at all the confusion in here. Unless I missed something.

Will definitely get any DLC though. Amazing game.

This is a $20 game not some $60 disc game that was rereleased less than a year after release. Stop getting hung up on the word "definitive" because a bunch of money grubbing publishers have used the same word with some of their shitty re-releases. This developer deserves my support.

Because it is, you have a huge interconnected map, search for upgrades, gain new abilities, backtrack to get hidden items with abilities earned later in the game, etc.

A definitive edition of a game that was released five months ago? Really? They should just release the extra content as free add-ons and that's it.

Yeah, it was a confusing announcement. Hopefully Thomas clarifies things soon.

You don't think they should sell DLC at all?
