cross post from pick up tread.

Got 2 watches for my bday. A Sony Smartwatch 3 from my GF as my daily user, and I got myself a Tag :)

I have my eyes on the Casio Protrek PRW 3000. Anyone got this watch and can give me some impressions? Seems to have gotten pretty good reviews but would be nice to hear what owners have to say.

Not possible to compete with pwack's GS from a few posts ago, but here's my pretender; SARB035 which I got a couple of weeks ago.

Also an awesome watch!. Speaking of which, I got a well used one for sale right now. I'm the third owner and its four or five years old and running a bit slow. Trying to get $215 or so on the forums, but I'd do $150 for a Gaffer. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f29/fs-seiko-sarb035-$215-2336066.html Bracelet looks way more scratched in photos than real life. I'm a shitty photographer.

less than 2 days left on this watch auction and im the highest bidder. Sweatin'

Which one? For what? Come on stop teasing us!

It's that period again of the year.
I'm a little down in the dump and i'm thinking about buying a tacky expensive watch i don't need to compensate :(

It's that time of the year when I tell you not to :)

Seriously though, the new Rolex Oyster Perpetual is ridiculously cool, not so expensive, and 'fun' (not tacky, but it could work :D) with the color dial...

So when will i be able to buy my Hublot and look like a russsian oligarch?

oh sure like im going to tell you guys! i'll let you know after the auction is finished!

Now I hope to see a crazy cool piece for peanuts :)

You don't get to, that's the beauty of it!

Seriously though, try the Oyster Perpetual and the blue milgauss at your favorite AD, at least you'll forget about your problems while buying something cool :)

It's not going to be for peanuts, sadly. It will be an overpay.

Edit: Auction over, I won. It was for a Steinhart Ocean One Vintage Military (their Milsub homage) v1 which has skyrocketed in price ever since it was replaced with a v2 that is not as good.

Sure, it's an homage but its something that you will never, ever own an original of or even dream of doing so. So doesn't feel so bad!

Edit: arrived this morning!

Really impressed with it. looks great, feels great, case feels like quality. Machined clasp, but the buckle is kind of cheap. otherwise the bracelet is really good.

Ok, so after a couple of days with the watch - the buckle is the most uncomfortable thing ever. bracelet good quality, machined joint, but shitty buckle and fliplock. rough edges on it, too. This thing is destined for a NATO I guess.

I just picked this guy up yesterday after almost a full year of reading forums and doing research. I always thought Rolexes were for the older generation and never thought I'd buy one, but the more I read and researched about the company the more impressed I became.

I love the two tone black and blue since I first saw it about 1.5 years ago and I was able to find a local dealer that gave me a great price and secured the watch for me within 2 days. Funny thing is when I went to pick it up my wife saw and tried on the green Submariner and is now in love with it...

I haven't owned a watch since I was a child and I am still a student so I don't have much money, but damn if I don't want to be wearing a watch. Are lower price range watches even worth it really? I don't want to wear something on my wrist that screams low quality.

Nice! The 1.0 looks so much better than that brown-ass dial on the 2.0

What kind of price range are you thinking about? As a fellow broke af student, there are some good looking entry-level watches out there.

The Srp637 has arrived!

So happy I pulled the trigger. It bigger and heavier than the 007 but just as comfortable. And despite its appearance it is very refined in its appearance. The tooled shroud and recessed bezel make it feel like a high precision tool. I love it!

Probably $200 max, but I am expecting a large scholarship in November so I might be able to push it a bit higher.

Citizen, Seiko 5 or maybe the SKX divers, Orient, and if you stretch the budget just a little bit further maybe a Hamilton Khaki Field. Take a look and see if any are to your liking.

New acquisition. really super lovely craftsmanship and finishing.

I've been meaning to reply earlier, they all look great.
Hope you're all enjoying them.
Apparently, I can't stop buying Universal Geneve watches... (Polerouter Sub, 1960s).
I can't stop drooling at this one.
I love the Polerouter subs, and this configuration (12 hour bezel and funky numerals) seen here is my personal favorite and I hope to find one someday: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.php?196641-Universal-Geneve-Polerouter-Sub

I've really been looking into getting a vintage watch next with divers being on the shortlist:
-Seiko 62MAS
-Seamaster 300 (first gen, or it's sibling the Seamaster 120 first gen)
-Polerouter Sub

I'm just so paranoid about getting fakes or frankens, especially from eBay.

I clicked on the link. And of course, it's just 4 years old, but the prices are already completely off... :(

Stay away from Seamaster 300 for now. They are either 'ok priced' and then most likely franken/assembled from NOS pieces, of crazy priced, and then all original :( Those were always
overpriced
errr ok, sought after, but since the re issue, they've gone crazy (like even crazier than the market...).

The Polerouter Sub 3rd generation (which is the one you want, the guy on TZ is wrong, it's a 3rd gen with the acrylic bakelight bezel, like mine) is much (MUCH) less franken-ed / faked than the 1st generation (or a seamaster for that matter). And the one you want with the numerals is not the most expensive execution these days.

What to look for in this particular model: bezel material (stainless steel or acrylic), case (symmetrical or asymetrical, this one being much more expensive), inclusion of an original UG bracelet (those stuff are worth hundreds alone), and all the classic stuff (the dial must be untouched, even patina on dial and hands, crown/dial/movement signage, etc.).

These little boys are rapidly gaining value, if I were you I'd shoot now :)

This is also the main reason I haven't been able to get myself to try a vintage watch.

Nobody knows enough to be able to spot everything on any vintage piece. There are few rules but all in all, there are too many brands to be a specialist of all things vintage...

So make sure to be part of groups of hardcore specializing in this or that, and share a picture with them before. They will always help and confirm it's the real deal (or not).

Hey guys!, i bought a Tissot prc200 from eBay a couple of years ago but its just been sitting in its box since then. I decided i would start wearing it today, but after googling about this watch it looks like i may have been sold a fake. Is there anyone here who could tell if i post photos? should i just email Tissot with the serial number?

WUS has a dedicated topic on spotting fakes. http://forums.watchuseek.com/f62/how-spot-fake-tissot-234250.html

I bet some knowledgeable people are able to spot whether it is a fake or not. But post those pics anyway.:)

It's a $300 new quartz Tissot chronograph, those are (very) rarely faked. There is not much money to make faking it :)

Most probably the real deal (and it looks ok).

I appreciate the tips hehe. Yeah, their value along with many others are going up so fast.
I'll be very careful with my purchases and have a few saved threads to help me make a smarter choice.

OMG, the 6309 has arisen from the grave! Will it replace the 007?

Apparently the 007 is discontinued now so most likely.

Here's two more.
Black/Blue and Black/Red with matching minute hands.

I've been wearing this Armitron for about 14 years now:

Still looks nice and does the job well. Blue has always been my favorite color.... always has been a little too large for my wrist though haha. I've always liked the design.
