Everyone ends up using the same optimized/specific stuff in SF4 anyway, so I don't really care much about how many varieties of useless combos we can do. There's just not enough reason to use other combos in 2D games aside from like corner carry.

all those basic pathways (oki, corner carry) are still gonna be there, yeah. I like that stun-heavy combos will be more valuable, and resets will be worth a lot more, too.

Pineapple GOAT on pizza though.

Pineapple, salami, ham, onion. Godlike.

As far as fruit tiers go:

SSS+: Finnish strawberries. You'll understand once you try.

Hell, most things picked ripe are just amazing.

Its that time again...

"Fuck all anti-fireball mechanics, I'm chucking plasma"

Best part about SFV is that combo videos will more or less disappear.

and the only combo videos that will exist will be people doing jump in BnBs to horrible music, which is entertaining in a funny way.

You know Faust? That Guilty Gear character who's a combo cripple and pretty much always does the most basic stuff imaginable?

That's what I was thinking

You link me a vid to a game with serious combo extension mechanics (momentum / rc / RNGesus items/ wallstick & wallbounce/ OTGs).

Everyone in SFV will be some sort of combo cripple because the game mechanics aren't there to support combos for the most part.

If that's true about all light attacks then Ryu's st. lp can still be useful it it's at least +4 on hit. That's enough to link into st. lk which does combo into any of his tatsu's unlike the crouch light attacks. If not then I just don't understand their reasoning for these changes.

Well if it is still linkable to st.lk then it would just be a damage nerf in this case, while Birdie is unaffected from this change.
For what's worth. Right now I just want to play the latest build :/.

SF4 is the only SF with crazy combos, anyway. I guess people have it twisted since it's been SF4 for so long, and before that a long time before an SF was even released.

Alpha had crazier combos, though.

Only custom combos. Otherwise Alpha 3 barely even had links at all. Alpha 2 had very few links and combos, and CCs in that were just a few seconds long.

Mostly footsies most of the time in A2. A3's other system mechanics detracted from that a bit, but there still weren't a ton of combos (outside of CCs).

Let's just ask capcom to throw the SF4 fans a bone and give us SF3 stun juggles.

Ah, the good old days.

Street Fighter Alpha 3 tho?

The last game had a ton of characters, but no one I found fun. I worry.

Though I could settle for maining Bison at this point. His V-Trigger is Zzz Zzz, but he is otherwise pretty solid.

Tell me there is at least one option for dedicated zoning that won't be gimp, and I am happy.

Find it in your heart to play KI when released on PC lol

Alpha 3 had practical infinites.

Usually one move repeated over and over that was possible due to a glitch that wasn't even in later versions of the game.

But fine, let's say Alpha 3 is a crazy combo based game. Two entries out of all of the SF games do not make it a norm.

I don't really agree with this statement that's been floating around. I feel like even with the comeback mechanics in SF IV it still was a lot harder to get to the pro level. I feel like SF V feels very noob friendly at the moment and that because of the high damage, decent players could potentially beat pro players. I may be horribly wrong but it feels that way at the moment. Between the easier to perform links, target combos, and simple movesets SF V is really going for the mind game approach than one of tight execution.

High damage isn't going to help people beat players way above their level because as it is now SFV doesn't offer ways to circumvent footsies or to safely random your way out of things for massive damage. I expect better players to win even more consistently in this game.

damn thats way too many bad tumblr gifs bro

I know I must be getting old but I just don't get these shitty TV show gifs with the yellow subtitles thing at all

I know what you're saying, but I think it's hilarious that none of those have yellow subtitles.

If SFV is the fighting game where the more experienced player always wins I don't see how you can call it kusoge. SFV's biggest problem is that it's just too safe with the roster selection at this very moment.

That statement Valle made makes 0 sense to me.

He's acting like a newbie even had a chance to beat an experienced player in SFIV. They never did. In fact newbies probably have a better chance at winning in SFV due to the lack of the 1000+ hidden OS' that are in the game. In fact, any competitive game that allows an inexperienced player to actually have a legit chance at beating an experienced player at all times is a very badly designed competitive game. That isnt even a thing in Hearthstone and that's the closest to RNG: The game you can get.

Now if Valle meant experienced 09'ers and others that started with SFIV who hinge on DP FADC's and ultras to get random wins vs older players then who gives a fuck about them lol. Those dudes gotta learn to adapt as they've been playing FG's for 6+ years now.

God Jack'O is looking so damned fun.

  • has a quadruple akuma air fireball
  • her minions take 2 hits to kill at max level but attacks appear to push them super far away making it so you can't just light mash to kill them because it knocks them away...this will be scary since she can have 6 at a time
  • she can trigger a countdown to detonate all 6 of her minions and her minion spawning bags and it does half a health bar of damage. It has friendly fire but damn this is useful because it fills so much of the screen.
  • minion bags take legit work to kill and she can pick them up , throw them or put them away at will
  • leveled minions hit 4 times...she has a low minion. 2 of them, summon 2 flyers and then start airdashing around throwing her quad fireballs. Fuck your life.
  • Looks to have decent speed normals and general pokes.
  • Awesome animation.

This character may fill my missing Testament "bullshit factory" niche. I missed his shit a lot and without Bridget or Zappa all my backup bullshit tier dudes were gone. Yay bullshit!

What the hell is that shield bubble she does at 30:23?

Edit: Holy crap, she has a DP? Alright, I'm trying this girl out. I am now in for Revelator.

That's exactly who he meant. Players who stuck with SF4 because its "uniqueness" is what kept them good (and kept them -playing-, which illustrates what Valle is precisely worried about).

I want Jack-O so bad. I fucking love minions. I enjoy Puppet characters but the ones in Blazblue aren't visually interesting and a lot of work. Ken and Koro is amazing though.

Well done as usual but I hoped they would have changed it up. For the past 3 years or so it's been the same format. Slow tempo that gradually builds with a time lapse every 30 seconds.

I'd like to see Desk do an Evo Moments video
