Metal Gear Solid Community |OT4| God Bless the Chopper!

Same here raj. I was in my final year of primary school and my mum got it me on release day, after a year of buying every single magazine with a single mention of the game. Been here day one for every single title ever since.

I played MGS1 over my mates house when we were around 11 years old. Took us about 2 hours to get to the lift undetected...

I think I first played the game at one of my dad's friend's house. I think it was shortly after the game actually came out in '98. I was roughly 9 years old at the time. Being born in '89.

My uncle bought the game for me as a Christmas present some time later though. Or he just gave me his old copy and pretended it was new and unused, which I suspect is what he did.

My CE came in today...

Only problem is I sold off my PS4 a month ago because I ordered the LE MGSV PS4 bundle. And of course that thing will be delivered on release. So I have 3 days just to stare at my CE...

I first played MGS1 on Christmas morning 1999 when I was 7. Took the entire day and the next day to get to the elevator. Then after that, me and my brother didn't know how to save the game and did it all again the next day. We eventually learned how to call Mei Ling. It took us months to finish the game. Unfortunately, this will be the first MGS me and my brother won't play together which is a shame because it's basically the only common interest between us.

You know... you got that arm now...

Edit: I played MGS1 rather late, I think after MGS2.

My first PSX game was RE3:Nemesis. ( I was 9 in 2000, lol)

My older brother got me into the series. He is 6 years older than me and I believe my first play through was when I was 10 back in 99. I would watch him play and be so mesmerized, then I would stay up late and play when everyone else was sleeping.

I'm enjoying reading everyone's stories! MGS has created such an unbelievable legacy.

if anyone cares the game in the UK CE isn't the day one edition
for the weirdos like me that hate that damn day one edition banner

found it looking through the store twitter accounts, hopefully the PS4 version doesn't have that annoying bundle edition badge on

It's weird think MGSV will be some kids' first Metal Gear. I was already lost in Shadow Moses at that age, can't imagine how Afghanistan and Africa would look like to my young eyes.

Where did you get your CE? Bol.com?

I ordered mine from 12game and haven't heard anything yet.

Hey guys, been trying to find a 100% confirmation on this, sorry if it's been asked repeatedly: on PS4, do I need to complete/S-Rank Jaimais Vu for 100% completion? I know that you don't need it for the trophies, but wanted to know.

Yes, you need to S rank Jamais Vu for 100%.

Maybe ebay at this point but if you didn't pre-order back when they first opened up, you might be out of luck as of now.

It was 1999, sometime around April and it was almost midnight.
I was 7 back then and i remember we were heading home with my father after we left from some family friends. I then saw the OPSM #42 with Gray Fox on the cover and asked my dad to buy it for me. He did and as soon as i got home i booted it up and chose MGS!
Man i was so young that i got scared from the menu of MGS so i closed it and gone to sleep. After that i always made my uncle play the game so i could watch because i was too scared to play it myself.
MGS is the reason why i took the English class seriously, because i wanted to be able to understand what they were saying.

It's been a part of me since then and it will always be.
Thank you Mr. Kojima!

I think I was 15 when i played MGS.

We were at the Gurnee Mills Mall near chicago, I had decided to buy Metal Gear Solid because i read all the good reviews. I actually ended up returning it before leaving the mall and bought Xmen vs Street Fighter for Saturn instead. (this was when EBGames sold import games!)

I ended up renting it a few weeks later and marathon played the game. I actually never owned a copy of the original until years later.

Think I was 10 when I first played MGS and was sad that I couldn't keep Meryl alive because I sucked at button mashing.

I also loved that the icon on your memory card would change depending on how many playthroughs you were on.

Most memorable thing for me would be finishing MGS 3 at half 4 in the morning with school the next day. Really wish i could go back and play them all again for the first time .

Not sure where to ask but has anyone tried the ground zeros companion app on an android emulator? Only devices i have are my phone and this surface pro. Would prefer the bigger screen for that. I was able to get it to run in Andy but it cant connect to my ps4. Was hoping to get this working in time for tpp.

I was eighteen or nineteen when I first played Metal Gear. One of my best friends lived in the dorms at the University of Arizona, and my friends and I would all go down to campus on Saturdays and hang out at his dorm, since he was the only one of us not living at home. One Saturday he was playing Metal Gear Solid 1, and I was totally enthralled by the plot of the game. (He was somewhere around the Psycho Mantis fight, I think) He handed the controller off to me at one point while he took a break, and I started a new game.

I got caught and died immediately. The idea of a stealth game was so new to me that I couldn't wrap my head around it. I bought the game a few weeks later, and I've been a fan ever since.
