Uncharted The Nathan Drake Collection gameplay

Despite being a YT vid @ 720p, there's still a noticeable increase in visual quality. Can't wait to play this.

Thanks to E3 preorder discounts and amazon's low-price guarantee, I'm able to get this day 1 and save $31 off the regular launch price.

I know, right? Bringing them to PS4 would grow the community more than harm it. And it would be the one big chance to fix the mistakes made by patch 1.05, or post-summer-beta Uncharted 3.

I'm guessing there's a different reason at the heart of the decision.

They just want the whole playerbase to go towards UC4, including all newcomers without a PS3. And that is why the only MP that comes with this collection will be an UC4 beta.

While it is totally understandable that people are bummed they will not get UC2 MP on the PS4, I think it is reasonable to put all efforts/resources into having the whole UC community focused on 4's MP. And even without 2/3 MP, it is not like this collection doesn't have a great value for it's price.

Looks shmoove. Can't wait to play these again. I been staring at my PS3 copies wanting to replay them for months. Glad I never did.

I'm guessing it's purely due to the fact that they would have to decide which MP to bring over and support or create some Frankenstein version of MP, which would piss off fans of the one that got dropped or altered, and it would probably only be active for a few months until Uncharted 4 came out.

Color and contrast look aesthetically nicer on PS3 -- based on that second comparison gif. But overall, massive technical improvement.

Have they mentioned anything about coop? Or Uncharted 2 cheats.

Co-op gone because it was part of online MP and therefore because they're not including MP no co-op either. Cheats are basically confirmed because they said you can use all 65 skins across all three games and skins were in the Cheats section of UC1 and UC2. Cheats will be new for UC3.

Also, cheats are confirmed from the video because it shows "Reward unlocked!" which you get when you unlock a cheat.

Didn't DF say that almost all assets in the games have been improved or changed? if so that's one hell of an accomplishment.

What realy strikes me here is the geometry of the stones in the front of the second picture. That is not simply a high res texture from the ND archives put on it. We also saw the same in one of those UC1 fragments and it greatly adds to give the environments a more natural feel (which was already great in the UC games). It really seems like there are some good production values in this collection.

This has really blew away my expectations; particularly the geometry on the second picture. And the lighting on the stonework on the left hand side in the first picture, it looks stunning!

One minor gripe though, for some reason, the blue garage door looks more washed out on the PS4 version, as if it's grey - it's messing with my eyes lol. I know it looks more natural, but for some reason, the brighter (and yes more unrealistic colours) on the PS3 version, particularly on that garage door, look a bit more aesthetically pleasing to me.

But again, it's just one minor thing and not a big deal. Can't wait to see what else they've got in store.

I wonder what the thought process was like for this game.

"Guys, you see that curb there? Not good enough. Also we need a bit more white paint on the shutter door".

Well, in the vid the guy mentions that they walked trough the entire trilogy with ND-employees and commented/brainstormed what should be done (especially UC1 seemed to have quite some elements that did not transition well to 1080p).

I think we are looking at is the attention of detail ND is famous for also being there in their remaster. And Bluepoint seems to be the ideal dev to pull that off.

I wonder if they've made the cover system similar to TLOU?

That is well beyond the scope of a remaster. Considering even Uncharted 4 is still using sticky cover after TLoU, there's no way Bluepoint would make such a drastic change to the series like that.

Sticky cover vs fluid cover is not an exchangeable thing, it's a major gameplay (and control) consideration.

Impressions:

Right off the bat, it's obvious developer Bluepoint has made strides to improve the graphics on a game that already looks pretty good. The way the camera focuses on either the foreground or background seems like it is way more noticeable in a good way. The Drake character model also looks really impressive, while everything has a nice, crisp feel to it.

As for the gameplay, it's everything you're expecting. Nothing has changed in regards to the controller layout, enemies, or weapons. Probably the biggest change that I noticed was the removal of motion controls for grenade aiming. Grenades now work like before, but you must aim them with the controller sticks instead of by angling the controller. The reason why I wasn't surprised about Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection was because I already knew that the Uncharted games played great, and seeing as how there's virtually no changes, things are still great.

Yeah I think they going with UC2 aiming across all the games.

Looks like AO has been scaled back, or even gone in some cases.

Looks much better, except the shadows on the plant in the second one.

Now you guys mention it, is it actually the AO or the shadows? I mean if you look at the hanging plant and the plant in the pot, their shadows are gone in the PS4 version? Also, the black outlines/casted from the shadow (depth or whatever you wanna call it) i.e. AO looks to be paired back a little, or am I thinking of something else? (Particularly around the upper ledge, pillars and walls).

Is it the crushed blacks, shadows, AO or what? I'm talking about the second pic btw.

Can somebody please tell me what the hell this person is trying to say at around 6 minutes?

"Now, do you ever have these moments where you go back and look at it, ya know 1080p, runnin' real quick on the framerate, you ever have moments where you're like 'It looks too good'? The frames are too fast? Cuz, that's a thing, ya know! If your framerate isn't in balance with the experience, the bigger number is not always the better number."
