There's a new news item in the launcher. It says they're aware of the issues and they're working to resolve them.

You only need the VPN to load into the launcher. I recommend shutting it off to patch, for obvious reasons.

I have a paid VPN. Is there a way that I can use it to play this on PS4 using wifi? Wired is not an option for me. :(

a) configure your router to use the VPN
b) if you have two wireless devices, you can share VPN'd internet from a computer for your PS4 to connect to
c) you can connect to a VPN on your phone and share internet via hotspot, but this will use your phone data since the wifi chip will be used to share your VPN

Man I really dont want to dick around with fan translations and vpns like I had to with PSO2 but I really, really want to play this. fuck.

Downloading the game now through the PC launcher. You can also turn off the VPN when the download starts. helps quite a bit with the speed.

Thanks. I'll try b with my laptop if the method below doesn't work.
Can anyone confirm that this works and does it add lag?

Made my character and went through the tutorial. Priest has some interesting abilities that were totally useless in the tutorial scenario. Looking forward to playing with real players...

When you log in, make sure to pay attention to the chat log. I got a free code for 3 days of adventure passport service.

Is anybody interested in making a thread? We really need to move to a different thread and stop using this. I can create something but I don't have the time/energy to keep it updated with resources for players, so if someone wants to take that task on, please let me know.

Did several of the first few personal quests, including the little priest tutorial dungeon. It's pretty cool so far, and I like the charging aspect of the abilities for priest. Looking forward to checking more stuff out tomorrow.

watching numerous vids, the enemies are health sponges designed around the monetization.

Seems like a big monster hunter game just doing the same thing over and over and looting. Nothing wrong with that, but will it be enough to keep people hooked?

Already spent a good amount of time in the game. Got a Shield Sage up to 16? and am working on the Hunter class that is 12.

Crafting is done with your pawn and real world time. So basically you need to sit there and baby things if you want to keep up a continuous output of items. But it saves you slightly some cash when it comes to making your own stuff vs buying it from vendors. Also you most def will be downing potions a lot so it helps being able to make your own that saves you about 50 G per potion as its 100 to create + resources.

Getting a pawn and being able to craft does not open up till you progress more in the game itself.

Your HP bar will slowly be chipped away the more damage you & your allies take and the only way it seems to recover that is by heading back to town and paying to rest at the Inn. Inn prices vary depending on location. Ones outside of the main city are insanely expensive in comparison to the main towns 50G price. Also when you have "rented" pawns each time you enter such zones like Inns it will subtract a number from the amount of times they can adventure with you. So going in and out constantly is generally not a good idea or you just wind up wasting resources for that rental. If you do rent pawns plan on staying out for a long period of time. You can rent up to 3 (if you are not using your own pawn) or 2 + your own pawn. So max 4 in a party. Dont bother renting a Shield Sage as the AI is too stupid to use it correctly and not take damage, so you will be wasting a ton of potions to baby them.

Overall as cool as this is, am really let down that capcom just did not make a proper retail game as all the resources are there. Dont think they would be doing any sort of co-op game in the future either as it would eat into the userbase of this title. Its similar to how they are with MH vs. MHF on the consoles.

Since I somehow forgot that I actually purchased the LE version (which is not worth the price) was playing it for about 2 days before it went live for the rest of Japan. Apparently there was a delay with orders going out for some folks looking at posts on the net.

Am not interested in linking up with others so dont bother asking what my PSN is.

I tried it with my ps4 and it worked but it's slow. I thought I'd try to switcharoo the proxy settings to off but the game doesn't like it when you back out to mess with network settings.
I settled on the softether method through my laptop ICS.

Your HP bar problem could be solved by grouping with a priest, but it sounds like you're not interested in playing with other people! Oh well!

Already knew that, but it still doesnt matter if you take large amounts of damage which is what happens against bosses on occasion. To make the healing work against bosses you would need to basically have the caster do the healing circle, have everyone else heal first then have the shield sage heal last due to them pulling the monster with them. Otherwise you are just dragging the boss into your group.

Against things like the cyclops for example you would be more busy healing those who are trying to "drag it down" by clinging onto it and hitting triangle. As they will be taking generally more damage from random hits with it thrashing around than the Shield Sage. The Shield Sage usually will only take damage from the grab attack which cant be blocked or if they are not paying attention to facing / stamina. Not too big of a fan of the enraged = enemy stamina bar that needs to be depleted to down them. As even with a party of humans you are taking unnecessary damage trying to drag that stamina bar down. You can chip away at it with normal attacks but its a very small amount. The upside to letting yourself get grabbed though is can have the healer create a healing circle near where you will land after getting released also your allies are pulling at the boss to drain its stamina. Depending on the areas where you are fighting too its possible to cheese bosses also by getting them stuck on areas with height differences.

Have not bothered with the other boss types out there as tested it out a few times and take way too much damage from normal attacks making it too much of a risk. Fairly decently equipped also, so its more a level issue than anything granted we are about the same lv as the thing but as with any MMO never take a bosses level at face value. The sphinx for example does some insane damage with its normal attacks, so have been trying to avoid contact with those. They will start appearing once you raise the level for an area by doing quests and whatnots raising your fame then talking to the area master that is usually in the inn. That is also how you get new dungeons to unlock also by reaching the various tiers for the specific area. All that info can be found out from the area master.

I stay out for hours at a time so work the HP bars pretty low before returning. Most of the time against normal enemies its not too much of an issue with a balanced party of pawns.

Just read this on gamefaqs, thought it was funny seeing how so many westerners are trying to play it with VPN's.

Japan has a very high quality network system and foreigners come in with their long distance sub par connections and not even speaking the language just ends up annoying them and diminishing their game experience more than anything. In a lot of online games, Japanese players simply want nothing to do with foreign players because of lag and the language barrier.

Think of it in reverse. Or more like common sense. No one likes to try playing with others when there is an obvious language barrier / connection issues present. Esp when it comes to things where having one party member lagging and being unable to communicate with them causes everyone to die.

Not exactly a fun way to spend limited downtime honestly.

The thing is too its generally a business decision to IP lock also considering they would not want to lose potential players who would buy the in game currency due to having a poor experience while playing. Makes it harder with F2P games since there is no initial subscription net which at least lands the company $$$ on a purchase + potential subscription fees after the first free month (which was a general standard with mmos). With F2P its basically there is none of that, its offering an experience that causes the player to want to spend $$$. Basically there is no safety net, so only thing they can do is try to keep as many players happy so they stay in the ecosystem and hope that they potentially spend $$$.

Well I managed to get in. Not sure what I selected at the very end of character creation.

My connection is seemingly fine, no noticable lag.

Another heart attack:
Please put JP on the title next time, this post gets me each time thinking the International version is announced.

Hopefully people take a screenshot of everything. I play on PS4, but would love to have references. Though to be honest.. Maybe it's just me but after playing FFXIV, the UI is really familiar.

So I'm assuming no one is making an OT?

I would love to help to make one. :)

Im gonna download it this weekend. Hope there is an OT by then that has a tutorial on how to get a vpn to play this and how we might be able to play this together. Is the multiplayer cross platform? Because i have the choice between pc and ps4; and im leaning towards PC.

This is awesome! The internet is the most reliable thing in my life... Its kind of sad.

Yup, PS4/PS3/PC, just like FFXIV. :)
