MAD MAX |OT| Beyond Thunderpoon

themadcowtipper

Smells faintly of rancid stilton.
Question: Is Max Australian? I remember some of the earliest previews having him with an American accent and was worried that between that, and the game not being anything like the outstanding Fury Road in tone or context, mean that the devs did Just Not Get It.
If it is anything like the films, he should hardly speak. He had lke 30 lines spanning four films.

I tried starting it and the patch downloaded but quit because the files are still encrypted... 15 minutes or maybe more depending on if I start right away.

I think they changed his accent after everyone complained about him being American

So to those of you who have already played a fair amount of the game, I have a question about those upgrades you unlock with the tokens from the mysterious dude.

Can you eventually max out all those upgrades? Or do you really have to pick and choose wisely? I was under the impression that you will only come across that dude every once in a while, so probably cannot max out all the upgrades. If so, which ones are the most useful? I picked Health upgrade, get more water from the water sources, and get more scraps while scavenging. Was thinking about the one that allows you to stay in Fury Mode for longer, and the one that conserve gas.

Unpacking after I restarted Steam.

I wanna say that's what I've heard too. Kinda reminds me of Excitebike 64, you could drive on the dunes endlessly just doing jumps and tricks and shit. It was a lot of fun.

Whaddya mean?

Basically wondering if the game starts out fun and losses it's steam over the course of the game due to the repetitive missions. I haven't played it, just speculating as this could be Dying Light all over again for me or I could really enjoy it like Shadow of Mordor.

Damn I forgot how long it takes steam to decrypt games.

It's basically the only thing I'd see a boost out of if I upgraded my cpu.

I think that depends on whether you find the side-missions compelling or not. It's hard to say for you personally as I don't know particularly know your favorite flavors, but I think what's there is compelling enough. I'd say just like Avalanche's last game, it's probably about as much fun as you make it. And by that I mean, taking the tools of destruction they give you and your ability to use them creatively.

I was surprised to see all four Mad Max movies go up for sale on Steam simultaneously as the game unlocked. Major surprise and it has the splash page on the main store screen covered.

Game runs smooth as hell on PC. Getting 90+ fps at all times with max settings on a 980 at 1440p. Great work Avalanche. Also looks amazing.

I've only played about 30 mins as my MGSV download just finished but man I'm so hyped to play more of this as from what I have played it just seems like it's gonna be amazing, definitely has a high production feel to it.

It looks and plays great. It's a more brutal Batman meets Far Cry, with strong and fun car elements in an atmospheric as hell wasteland.

WOW.

Mad Max PC version Max settings is the truth. Not only is the game really fun and easy to pick up, but the sound design is just as amazing as the lighting and graphics. Buttery smooth 60 fps even on a mid range system like mine at max and 1080p.

This game is the definition of a sleeper hit so far...people really don't need to sleep on it.

That shotgun blast sound...the engines roaring...the feel of impact from heavy hits...OH BLESSED BE I AM IN VALHALLA!

Cant agree more. The first time I popped someone with it (during the tutorial) I accidentally waited till they got too close. I'm glad I did. Capcom needs to take a page from this game's gun effects book.

I like the game for sure. I'll be going back and forth between this and MGS. Performance is great, and it's a nice price if you go Greenman.

The Ripper DLC isn't showing up for me on my DLC list and a lot of others on the Steam forums are having the same issue...is this a problem?

Anyone rent from their local redbox?

Doesn't show any in -stock around me nor any zip code in the US I look up. Can I just rent it if I go to the kiosk, good chance it's there?
